"The basement is clear."
Han Meixiu heard Zen on the other line. She was carefully walking in a deserted corridor on the third floor. This abandoned building has only four floors.
Except from Zen and Han Mingxia, there were only three other people. She strictly told them that if ever they encountered any possible movement, they should hide. Never face them off as it would attract attention.
Currently, the three teams that were blocking the exits were still on stand by as they wait for the command or probably the arrival of the other two teams.
Thus, they only have ample time to search the area. The monitoring around was already taken care of Zen. But then again, if the reinforcement arrived and the police would not see them, then they would know something tampered the system.
Since the building has been scheduled to be demolished, it was given that the area surrounding has been cleared already. Inside the building itself was total darkness.
But Han Meixiu was wearing night vision goggles equipped with thermal imaging. Although it was a bit uncomfortable, it was better than using other source of light.
Walking silently in a deserted corregidor, Han Meixiu was replaying the words of Zen.
This building was previously owned by White Peony Agency. Their very first office was located on the 3rd floor, room number 303. Although from the legal record it was owned by another company, Han Meixiu believed it was just a cover up.
The record of this building was actually doubtful as revision was done several times.
Arriving in front of the door, Han Meixiu breathed silently. She moved to the side and pushed the unlocked door using her foot.
There was no movement inside.
Using a debris nearby she rolled it inside the room.
There was still nothing.
'Am I wrong?'
She muttered on her mind.
Instead of coming inside as usual, she actually crawled a little at a time.
Sure enough, she was someone hiding in the dark.
But the posture was somewhat weird. It wasn't moving! Based from the image she could see, it was standing and leaning. Learly, the person was hiding from plain view.
Her heart thumped loudly as she moved slowly and carefully.
Suddenly, a thing flew! By instinct, she moved aside losing the focus she originally had.
In a blink of an eye, the image disappeared from her vision and she felt someone on her back. She felt the sudden force of grip on her neck.
"Ma..dam B...?" Han Meixiu said as she struggled to speak.
The force started to loosened and she was sprung around. The long goggles almost hit Zhang Huiling.
"The Hell! Why are you here?" The woman whispered angrily.
Although Meixiu couldn't see the woman's face she could vividly imagine her reaction.
"The police are outside! Majority of the exits of this area has been blocked. They are coming to get you." Han Meixiu answered in a soft but eager voice.
Zhang Huiling didn't answer as her she breathed erratically. She knew that the police were waiting outside. But based from her calculation, they would go to the next building.
She planned to take action after they would move inside. She missed the time earlier as she was dizzy. She decided to move when its already dark.
But she couldn't implement her initial plan as she was getting weaker.
"Amm, are you okay?"
"Let's move." Zhang Huiling managed to say suppressing the pain she was feeling.
Her attack earlier took a lot of her remaining strength. Now she felt dizzy. "Lead the way." She continued as she didn't want Han Meixiu to find out.
Han Meixiu nodded but after they reached the door Zhang Huiling leaned abruptly and hissed.
She lost her balance but before she tumbled, she forcefully moved her body towards the wall. It was better than suddenly collapsing on the floor and hitting her head.
It was also the time Han Meixiu looked back. Her own body moved faster than her brain. "Mom!"
It wasn't just Zen who heard Han Meixiu's exclaimed. Han Mingxia also perked up. The two were connected with a small communicator device attached to Han Meixiu.
'Mom?'
Han Meixiu realized what she just blurted out. But since she already did, she spoke once again. "I think I need more time that what we planned. Stun whoever comes in this area. How much time do we have?" She asked as she moved to her mother's side trying to check her condition.
"15 minutes. I'll send the others to assist you."
"No need. Tell them to make another distraction. Mingxia, come here."
Since it would take a longer time to leave the area, they needed more distractions.
The three men were immediately ordered to deploy around while Han Mingxia walked towards the building from her original post.
It was hard for Han Meixiu to move Zhang Huiling and she was also worried about her wounds. Although she didn't know exactly where as she could feel the dampness on her mother's body, she knew it's not good to prolong her here. She needed immediate medical attention.
As she tried to wrap her mother's arm around her shoulder, something fell down.
The thing must have been inside her clothes and Han Meixiu was pretty sure it's important.
But if she would pick it up now, she would let go of her mother as she was supporting her to stand.
She tried to kick the thing to the side to hide it from view. She was planning that once Han Mingxia came, she could pick it up.
She wanted to bring out the small flashlight she has as it would help them better to navigate back to the stairs but she was also worried as the police were still stationed nearby.
Han Meixiu could only grit her teeth and walked small steps at a time.
She managed to walk for only a few steps when she heard Han Mingxia over her ear piece.
"Meixiu! Someone is coming!"
Han Mingxia saw someone with a flashlight when she was a few meters away from the entrance.
She stopped and heard another voice seemingly calling the person.
"What?!?!" Han Meixiu irritably asked in a soft voice. "Only one?"
"Yeah. There was one coming but the other person shooed it away. And.. Meixiu, I've heard the person was called officer Li." Han Mingxia continued as she hid from one of the posts.
"Officer Li? Did you see that person properly?" Han Meixiu stopped moving and her heart pounded really hard.
"I didn't see the face but based from the silhouette, the officer was a woman." Han Mingxia also started to worry. She could actually stun the person if she would sneak attack but, if she was really someone they both know, she thought it would be not good. Besides, she didn't know if someone came in earlier than that officer Li.
"There's another way to climb to the third floor. Do you think you can arrive before her?" Han Meixiu nervously asked. She didn't want to confront the police officer but it seemed she didn't have a choice now.
"I'll try." Han Mingxia answered and moved faster while looking around.
"Then I'll give you the details where you should pick up my mom. She's wounded. Bring her out first. I'll deal with the officer." Han Meixiu said and turned around.
Zhang Huiling was getting heavier. Or it was probably Han Meixiu was getting tired. Either way, she knew they should move faster.
The other possible exit was in another direction. It would be farther from the entrance where their car was waiting but it's a safer choice.
With all her might, Han Meixiu tried to conceal the woman who was now semi conscious. She was carefully placed back in the room and was partly covered. There was still a faint breathing and Han Meixiu could still hear a soft murmur that she couldn't understand.
"Mingxia is coming." She whispered before leaving and walking briskly towards the stairs.
Since she couldn't move too far from where they were originally, she planned to face the police officer head on.
She would distract her until Han Mingxia could leave safely.
Picking up the thing her mother dropped, she started to walk towards the stairs.
Soon enough, she saw a ray of light after glancing below. She cautiously went up to the fourth floor while controlling her breath.
