Stephanie arrive and stood in front of her dorm room, a bead of cold sweat trail down her forehead as she took a deep breath and enters the room.
Within the room she sees a girl with fox ears, her roommate Luna. The girl was staring out the window with a look of longing as the sun's ray of light shine upon her, leaving a beautiful golden glitter on her golden brown hair.
"Ah you've returned." Seemingly to notice me she turn and greeted me with a small warm smile, her hair fluttering slightly from the gentle breeze outside.
"I have returned, your highness." Slightly bowing, I return her greeting while holding out a smile from appearing on my face.
"May I ask where you could have gone to? I have not see all morning today." She questioned with a gentle tone.
"I had to attend an appointment but it is nothing too important, just a news bearer." As I answer her, I snuck a glance at her. Her smile is quivering, seemingly holding back a laughter.
"Oh? Would you mind to share the news?"
"I certainly wouldn't mind your highness, but would you care to drop the formalities? You are not too good at it."
"Pff fine I'll drop the act but just to be clear, you're not any better than me at it." As if all the charm and gracefulness from before was all but illusion she is now having a cheeky and cheerful smile on her face.
Hearing her respond I could only roll my eyes at her but at the same time I could no longer hide my smile.
"Well what are you waiting for then, what's the news?" She urge as she come and pulled me to sit beside her on her bed.
"Calm down, it is nothing exciting just some news from my parents and couple of rumors. It is like this..." I began telling her about how my parents are doing, about my father rising in rank and become a bishop, about the new life that is now in my mother's womb, and rumors about some Welsburg spies stirring troubles within my homeland, the holy kingdom of Rosenberg.
In the end I decided not to tell her about my little investigation on Vayne, I couldn't. Seeing her happy smile whenever she talks about him or when she talks about meeting him again, I couldn't bring myself to tell her the news.
"Oh that reminds me, how did you get the news?" She ask curiously
"Hm? Oh, I used the courier service, they are pretty handy." Hearing my answer she squinted her eyes and her expression turn sour.
"Oh it is those cloaked creeps, they creep me out with how the could find anyone anywhere and how they can "talk" without saying a single word." She shudder a bit as she said that. Seeing that I could only shrug and said.
"Well at least they are reliable and your privacy is guaranteed."
"That's true I guess, anyway have you heard about the tournament? Seems like it'll be fun to watch, you wanna come with me?" She pouted then change the topic and look at me expectantly.
"Oh the tournament, when was it again? Was it 12th Nova? I think I'm free that day so sure, I'll go." After pondering a bit I decide to accept her offer.
"Great! it's a promise then." She said as she smiled widely.
Returning her smile I said "it's a promise."
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
"Aren't you going to train?" I asked Lucas.
"There's no need, I'm just facing small fry." He answered with a smug smile.
Sigh... Since we returned to our room he only slumped himself on his bed and laze around as he told me what happened in the office.
Who would have thought that this trouble maker would be forced to represent the academy in the tournament, the tournament is something the king uphold every year for both the young and the old generations. Supposedly it was only for sport created by the past king but who wouldn't want talents if they are available, so it started to become some kind of talent gathering and competition.
"Don't draw attention to us, you know what we are and what our "other work" is. It'll be difficult if people keep an eye on us all the time."
Hearing my reprimand he only wave his hand then turn to his side and start snoring. Sigh... Sometimes I question why I chose to be his partner.
"Don't let more than 30% out of the limiter." With that I turn to my own side of the room and do my own things.
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
"Shit shit shit! What the hell is that thing, there is no way it could get this strong so quickly!" Passing the large double door of the core room, the young man drags his legless body towards the crystal sleeping pod in the center of the pedestal.
He keeps desperately moving one hand after the other, his face wet with tears and snots. As he reaches halfway through, a voice come from behind him.
"I~♪ found~♪ you~♪ fufufu."
"Aaaaaaahh!!" The young man scream in agony the moment the voice finish it's sentence as he felt pain on his arm as a chipped and battered sword nail it to the ground and standing on the handle of it is the incarnation of his fears.
"Where do you think you're going? I'm not done playing yet." That monstrosity said with a beaming smile before coming down off his sword and landing one foot on his other arm, breaking it in the process.
"Tag, you're it! Now come on, play with me." It says as it pulls the sword and took a step back, creating a 30 meter space between them.
He knows he couldn't over power that thing, he knows he can't run from it, now there is only regret in his heart.
'oh goddess, why must you send such abomination into this world.'
