Capítulo 9: Sparkly Sam

"I'm definitely haunted!" A blond man shouted at the man wearing a robe sitting across him, jumping up and smashing his hand on the table for effect. The other people in the bar looked at them strangely, although there weren't many people at this time of day. It was 3pm and the sun was shining, most people were working.

"Calm down Mikael, I believe you." The man dressed in a white robe replied.

Mikael sat back with his arms crossed, slightly embarrassed at his outburst. He looked around 20, around 170cm tall and lean with a decent amount of muscle. He wore leather armour and had a short sword strapped to his waist.

The man dressed in a short white hooded robe looked slightly older, only mid-twenties. Beside him was a small wooden staff. The food they ordered arrived on the table in no time. He took his hood off revealing his rough brown hair and kind sage green eyes.

"Marcus!" Mikael, sensing sulking is ineffective, started whining again." You're a priest, right? Help meee. I feel chilled and heavy all the time. And I always feel like someone is watching me from behind, but when I turn back there's nothing. Once, I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a faint shadow of a man during the night. It scared the living daylights out of me."

Marcus nodded while putting another piece of steak into his mouth. "And what do you want me to do?"

Mikael's eyes lit up at this offer. "You're willing to help me?" He stared at Marcus like a puppy. "Can't you exorcise it or something?"

Marcus sighed at his idiotic friend. "I'm a priest but I focus on healing. I don't have many purification spells, those things are expensive. I'll try."

The two of them were like siblings and Marcus didn't really want Mikael to die to a ghost. As good a warrior he is, he really lacks brains. Heavily deficient in brain. Does not possess a brain.

"Aaaah you're the best! Thank god I thought I would die because of this." After gaining his approval, Mikael became shovelling food into his mouth. Suddenly, he froze. "There it is again." He spoke shakily, mashed potato falling out as he spoke.

Marcus, as if sensing the creature, suddenly grabbed his staff and started chanting. "Dweller of darkness." He began in a grave tone. At this point, Elise sat up on her hay bed and muttered a soft "Crap," while she tried to pull Sam out.

"May the holy light purify you!" Marcus yelled sending soft yellow light towards Sam. The light on grazed him but it took out a small chunk of his ethereal arm. Immediately a ghostly howl could be heard throughout the tavern.

Elise panicked slightly, one could hear her muttering an endless chain of 'crap crap crap'. She gave strict orders for Sam to retreat as fast as possible.

Marcus sensed the ghost's retreat, which was way above its level of intelligence. Quickly, he chanted another spell and sent a small light orb towards Sam who was almost out the window. The orb exploded when it came in contact with Sam, splattering light all over him like a paintball.

By the time the others reacted, Sam was out the window and gone. Mikael almost cheered for getting rid of that ghost when he saw Marcus's grim face.

"There was someone controlling that ghost. This might be bigger than we thought. I marked it but we will have to wait and see."

Mikael gulped in fear and nodded quickly. He knew Marcus worked for Emerald Grove Security and was in the city police. He himself was only a small guard employed by the local tavern.

Elise, on the other hand, had obviously noticed the bright golden splotch on Sam. She couldn't brush it off of or get rid of it. Helpless, she told Sam to wander around the woods for now. She didn't think she'd get caught so easily, Mikael was an easy target because of how little brains he possessed and the people he interacted with weren't that low level. On the other hand, it seems the ghost might be a good way to lure people over.

Elise felt like the time she had before opening up was getting shorter and shorter. Heaving a short sigh at the somewhat dangerous situation that had just passed, she lifted herself up and decided to get some work done. She was already 5 days into her 3 month grace period.

The inside of the dungeon had already been expanded and became a decently big area, it was a rough oval around 100metres long and 60 wide. Expanding this much with the power of the dungeon would have costed a few hundred no doubt. Taking a deep breath, Elise commanded the Skeletons to split into two groups and dig two tunnels at the end of the oval, one to the right and one to the left.

Although she had a vague idea of how she wanted to run the dungeon, she really had no idea how construction works. She studied business in university, not architecture or construction. Not that she learnt much, she generally visited the cookery university across the road and ate food. She looked at her remaining balance, 650DP with a frown.

Grimacing, she purchased a vital aspect of her future development and swallowed the scroll. It tasted on par with the skeleton scroll, if not better.

[Magical Crafting 120DP]

It was the ability to manipulate material with magic to craft. Zwei had explained this skill to her earlier, although it sounded amazing, it was somewhat useless. Only the rich would use this scroll to supplement their crafting as it is kind of useless. It doesn't mean you can become a blacksmith, nor does it mean you can suddenly create weapons and armour and whatnot. The only aspect magical crafting encompasses is shaping and manipulating material to the user's will.

This meant that a sword she made with magical crafting wouldn't have the same sharpness, durability and balance a sword a professional blacksmith's made. The sword would look like and sword but that was about it. It was only a piece of metal in the shape of a sword.

This was enough for Elise, however, as she really had no other options. Judging by the condition of the town's buildings, the craftsmen here probably wouldn't be much better and a whole lot slower.

Looking around the dungeon area, she saw a large cleared out area filled with piles of dirt. She walked towards the first pile of loose dirt while connecting with the magic. After creating so many skeletons she was much more accustomed to magic. In fact, she could even feel her magic power growing a little stronger.

She held the soil with her magic just like the Magic Crafting scroll had dictated and felt the soil. She spread out her magic to cover as much as she could until she could feel around three basketballs worth of soil under her control.

Channelling all her remaining magic, she willed the soil to converge and form a ball. She kept crushing the soil together firmer and firmer until it was barely the size of one basketball before she stopped, panting and sweaty.
