Capítulo 7: Connection and Resolve (2)
"You sure went fast." Pan said looking at him weirdly.
'Quit thinking like that, I didn't pee all over the place, I spread my aura and scent everywhere instead.' Chaos said feeling aggrieved that she would think he'd do something so disgusting.
Not missing a beat she responded "Who said i was talking about peeing everywhere?" In a teasing tone with a laugh.
'While I was out I could feel the aura's of several beasts in no way inferior to me, so you must be careful.' Chaos said seriously changing the subject.
"Yea don't worry I won't go out alone anyways." Pan said a bit annoyed that he was treating her like a child.
"Alright, move away from that, I'm going to roast it for dinner." Without needing any more encouragement she moved away and he shot a flame onto the corpse incinerating it.
'Shit, sorry here I'll try another one.' Chaos said moving towards another corpse, It was only after seven incinerated corpses that he started getting control over the temperature of his flames.
But still the next four were way too charred to eat, with the last edible beast corpse in front of him he sent a very, very weak flame out cooking it slowly, feeling excited he let the temperature slip nearly charring the beast and forcing him to stop.
In from of them was now a cooked rare beast, well, a cooked extra rare beast.
'Sorry, I'm stilll getting a good handle on the fires.' He said apologetically towards Pan who was now absorbing gems, completely not paying attention to his struggle.
"You can have it all, these gems fill my hunger." She said sweetly opening her eyes for a moment before getting back into focus trying not to hurt his feelings.
Like this a week past, Pan becoming stronger via the stones and training using the great ax and Chaos going out to hunt more beasts and perfecting his flame control on them for dinner.
By the end of the week, Chaos was already almost completely in control of his powers being able to roast beasts well-done on the first try and even have his mind on other things while doing it as well as changing his flame breath patterns, as for Pan she was now swinging the great ax with ease, slicing through the air, with her current speed using the ax she could easily fight five of the cannibals from before slicing them in half with a single swing.
It was also today on the mark of the first week since establishing his territory that a large group of ants infiltrated into his territory.
The first to notice was Pan who was training with her great ax,.
"Chaos! We've got trouble!" She yelled out in her loudest voice, a mile away Chaos who was stalking a gazelle suddenly stood up out of his hiding place running back back at blinding speeds scaring the poor gazelle half to death.
Chaos arrived back to Pan fighting off the ants, 'their must be more than a thousand of these bastards!' He thought, but these were not the soldier ants from before but rather worker ants, half the size of the soldier ants standing at half a meter tall.
"AWOO!" He howled jumping right into the battle, in only a few seconds the tides of battle had changed, with every low intensity fire breath tens of ants would be incinerated, this is the intensity of the breath from when he first encountered the soldier ants, he could shoot more than fifty of these without getting tired.
Battling towards Pan, he arrived beside her in a few seconds, she was being swarmed by the workers ants who did not fear death, but for an area of affect damage dealer like Pan who could kill them in a single swing this strategy would not work on her unless she got tired or careless.
'I'm going to let out a full power breath, get behind me!' Chaos said opening his mouth for the full force shot.
Pan hearing this was already behind him killing off the ants trying to bite his legs, in a moment he let it rip, killing hundreds of the ants, setting the forest on fire as well, incinerating everything that touched the flames.
Because of this the ant army was cut down to only a hundred sparsely spread out ants.
It was also now the from the forest came a angry roar.
A massive ant as big as Chaos came charging out with fire all over its body burning at it with one of its antennae gone, this ant looked towards Chaos with hate filled eyes.
With a swift charge towards him the ant arrived right in front of Chaos biting towards his head, but he had already moved out of the way, once the ant had reached five meters in front of him he had sent the message to Pan to get out of the way and dodged.
The ant on the other hand was incapable of making such complex movements and kept running for fifty meters before finally stopping, it was also at the moment that it stopped and turned around that Chaos shot off a weak fire ball towards the ants face to blind it.
But the ant didn't dodge but rather smashed one of its legs into the ground causing an earth wall to appear in front of it dispersing the fireball.
'Shit he has a special ability!' Chaos said to Pan, telling her to get out of here in the process.
He then charged towards the ants wall directly jumping over it to attack the ant, but just as he jumped over the wall the ant sent earthen spikes flying towards him, with nowhere to run he shot flames out to course correct but despite that he was still grazed on his soft underbelly cutting him.
The ant at the same time started forming small earthen shards to fire towards Chaos who was now with less than half of his previous energy.
Seeing these small shards he paid them no heed as they wouldn't be able to penetrate his hide, charging straight through the shards at the ant.
Surprise flashed in the ants eyes before quickly raising a wall in front of it, but Chaos had expected this and course corrected, jumping to the side and around the wall before the ant could do anything and fired off a breath at the ant incinerating its legs, and in the next moment chomping down on its head.
At that time a earthen spear stabbed into his chest just before be finished biting into the ant.
Moving away from the ant body Chaos lay'd down on his side with his eyes closed trying to absorb the huge influx of energy from the ants crystal.
Pan also ran over at this time, she had already finished off the remaining ants while they were spread out and had seen Chaos being stabbed in the chest.
Checking his injury over she sighed in relief because it had missed his vitals, it would heal in a few hours.
Chaos on the other hand was having a mini war going on all over his body, the energy from the ant, a creature on par with himself was truly huge, the energy was trying to take over his body, giving the very real threat of becoming a mindless creature run purely by instinct, essentially, a zombie wolf.
Because of this battle between the two energies he was unconscious for three days, during these days Pan had stayed by his side at all times fighting off any creatures that tried to pick at him, sustaining injuries in the process.
It was also during these three days that Chaos' body noticeable became much more firm, his muscles more bunched together giving off a feeling of power.
The pressure he was giving off was also increasing, now the lower ranked beasts wouldn't dare to get close, his energy became more fierce and aggressive, injecting just a small amount when howling would make weak creatures die from shock, as his howl alone made the illusion that they are on a battlefield against thousands alone, of course this wouldn't work on suicidal hive mind type creatures or creatures stronger or on par with himself.
During these days of combat Pan had also become much stronger, her battle senses improving by leaps and bounds, the ax now dulled from continuous use was being used as more of a blunt force weapon, killing the beasts with just the impact from the strikes.
Her energy was however much more vibrant, circulating through her whole body at speeds that she would never have dared to believe had someone told her four days ago.
By now the gems were doing less than half they were doing several days ago, and the time needed to absorb each of the low quality gems was also less than half of before, now being able to absorb ten gems every day.
Today was the day Chaos' awoke, his whole body healed and impurities released, his pores opened absorbing the energy in the atmosphere constantly.
When Chaos woke up, Pan felt it through their connection.
Through this same connection a mass of energy passed into Pan, and with a crisp shattering noise her bodies pores opened as well, sucking in copious amounts of natural energy converting it into her own strength causing her strength to get another leap, now with her speed and strength she would have been able to take down the entire cannibal village bare handed.
