Capítulo 52: Going to be Fine

Hours earlier, Li Feng was warned by his mother not to meet with Liu Xiaodan anymore. He had been thoroughly cleansed even if he had to bleed for a day.

However, when he heard that the Ren family was pressing charges for real, he went to see his father. Even if Li Heilong wanted to grant his son the peace he asked for, the father didn't want to let it go. His only legitimate son's life was ruined by these events.

Li Heilong could only blame the Mian family for dragging his son into their god-forsaken business, but those were only words. Right now, someone was begging to be punished in their name so he wanted to push it. Even if it was Liu Xiaodan, son of Wu Qianqian...

This solidified Li Feng's resolve to try and help Liu Xiaodan one last time. He didn't succeed in taking the demon away from him. The least he could do was to make sure he wouldn't die because of its actions, right?

Who knew that, at this very moment, his wound would suddenly heal after being touched by Liu Xiaodan?

Li Feng couldn't help but scream as he pulled his arm back, his phone flying out of his hand. He was so terrified when he felt that miasma crawl onto his arm again.

He had been through so much pain because of it. He didn't want to be whipped to death again.

His eyes grew wide as he darted a glare at Liu Xiaodan... the other man sharing his expression. It seemed like even he was shocked by what happened.

"Hey, what's going on?" A guard picked up the phone and checked the screen to see a photo of a scripture. He glared at the man across Liu Xiaodan and then decided whether to interrogate him or not.

Based on what the prison personnel had, it seemed that Liu Xiaodan was into some occult shit and could be planning to test out a pagan ritual that needed at least fifteen students for a sacrifice.

Seeing these old-looking scriptures on Li Feng's phone, the guard felt like this man was an accomplice. "You, come with me."

"Ah, shit..." Li Feng cussed as he was troubled. How could he explain everything to the guards?

As he was getting up, Liu Xiaodan stood up. The guard was startled by it, but he only glared at Liu Xiaodan. His gun was already at the ready so this fifth-level inmate should be very careful.

However, physical pain wasn't existent to Liu Xiaodan anymore. Even if he was shot, he wouldn't care. The young man only stared at the guard and spoke using a voice with strange coldness.

"Let him go."

His eyes locked with the guard's gaze, and the guard felt like he was being collected for the Underworld. His mouth ran dry, and his heart raced in terror. Looking straight at those eyes was like staring deep at a dead person.

"Right, I'm leaving. I'm sorry." Li Feng wanted to collect his phone, but he couldn't just snatch it from the guard. What he didn't see was that the guard would walk to their table and drop the phone on the table. He then stood there even if his knees were trembling.

"I'm going back." Liu Xiaodan broke eye contact and left even before the four guards figured out what happened. They were so sure something happened, but no one wanted to open their mouths.

From the aura oozing from the young man just now, he could kill them in one second. They were guards; they should control their inmates. However, at that very moment, they felt fear like never before.

Li Feng took his phone and left as well. He just checked his arm when he was already heading outside the prison. He rolled up his sleeve and saw that the wound was indeed gone. Scared to be purified again, he didn't want to go back to the Mian residence for now. Just nice, his father's car was waiting for him outside.

Everyone who went to visit inmates stared at the luxurious Bentley at the side. Soon, they saw a young man go to the car and entered it before it left.

Small-scale media actually followed Li Feng as they covered the running story about the Ting University murders. They knew he went to visit Liu Xiaodan, but they couldn't get near at all.

Inside the car, Li Feng didn't even talk to his father who was driving the car. He was seated in the backseat, but he just kept his eyes on his lap.

Li Heilong, who glanced at him through the rearview mirror, hummed as he tried to get something out of his son.

"Feng..." His voice was low and soft, but Li Feng still caught it.

Li Feng never heard his father call his name most of his life. In these days or minutes that he did, Li Feng was like an excited dog who just heard 'walk' from his owner.

His father continued. "Do you want to stay with me for now? Your mother would surely come home soon."

"Can I?" Li Feng pulled on his lips a little. He was now a disgrace to the Li family, remember? Why would his father still want him around?

"Of course. Don't worry about the others. If they don't want to see you, they could either lock themselves inside their rooms or leave the house." Li Heilong knew that he wasn't perfect as a family man.

He had misadventures that fruited into illegitimate sons. However, Li Feng was his only son in his eyes. Those 'others' could live in his house only if they showed that they knew their places.

As for Mian Bingbing, Li Heilong was still clueless about how to take her back home. Perhaps having Li Feng there, instead of his stupid dorm, would make her go home.

That reminded Li Feng. "Father, do you remember meeting... someone named Wu Qianqian?"

"What about Qianqian?"

"She once said she wanted to see Mother again. Then again, her son is... Liu Xiaodan."

Li Heilong looked at the rearview mirror again. He then resorted to only grunting. "That Qianqian is really problematic. Don't even be acquainted with your distant relatives from the Mian family. Only Bingbing is the one worthy of attention among them."

The son then sighed. "Father, if Liu Xiaodan survives the trial, what are you going to do?"

"Hmph, I don't have to think of that what-if. Even if he does survive, he would still be crossed out of our lives." Li Heilong had a lot of plans ready in case things go awry during the trial.

To be honest, no one had enough evidence to incarcerate Liu Xiaodan. Everyone was just relying on his testimonies that he indeed killed those people.

"If he's not going to die, I'm throwing him out of this country."

...

Liu Xiaodan was back in his private nook in the library. He was sketching all the cinematic scenes in his mind since he couldn't get them to be digitized by Xu Disung and Ruan Jin. Thinking about his friends, he wondered if they were even allowed to visit him.

Then again, since Li Feng came, maybe they would show up soon. However, they were still students of Ting University; maybe they received orders from the school not to see him.

"Wow."

The father heard the librarian's voice behind him. He turned to the librarian who was gawking at the finished sketches. This man had never seen such visualizations this good. If only Liu Xiaodan could color them in or even paint them, he would certainly hang them somewhere in the library. It was too late for him to shy away when he caught Liu Xiaodan looking at him as well.

He only cleared his throat and left the trolley of unreturned books behind them as he sat on the vacant seat next to Liu Xiaodan. "These sketches...they're all from 'From the Moon Rabbit', aren't they? I remember this scene where the girl watched her father leave through the ship named 'Metal Mongoose'."

Liu Xiaodan only chuckled as he reached for his completed sketches and spread them across the table. "I didn't think you'd remember all the books here, sir. You're right; these are sketches for 'From the Moon Rabbit'. I'm... I used to study cinematography so..."

"Oh? Someone like you?" The librarian didn't mean to be rude, but he never heard of a mass murderer being a film student... and a very good artist as well. He then continued so Liu Xiaodan wouldn't be bothered by those words. "Ehem, well. You're really good; I'll give you that.

"Right, we have old reels for movies in the back. The prison had never gathered its inmates for a film showing again since a riot happened the last time. If you want to watch some of those masterpieces, I can ask the guards to let you use the audio-visual."

He then paused as his face paled all of a sudden. "Though I wouldn't recommend you going there alone. There were..."

Before he could finish, he spotted a small figure in his peripheral vision. He only needed to turn his head a little before getting a view of the six-year-old who was also perusing the sketches on the table.

The librarian swallowed his saliva and chuckled as he looked back at Liu Xiaodan. "I think you're going to be fine..."

...

"They let you use the audio-visual room? It's been years since someone made use of that..." Tang Mingming hummed as he walked with Liu Xiaodan towards the audio-visual room.

Liu Xiaodan was pushing a trolley with the old projector and three old film reels tightly encased in containers. The librarian let him deal with the reels on his own since he was trusted not to destroy media of art.

He was a cinematography student; he knew how much those reels were worth.

"Yeah, I'm surprised, too. These films had been out of circulation for a long time. I'm really happy, getting to screen them even once." Liu Xiaodan was walking with Tang Mingming, but he saw Guangru running ahead as if excited for a screening.

The child even stopped and waved at his father before jumping in his spot, urging him to hurry. Liu Xiaodan then sighed. "Why would ghosts be excited to see movies?"
