Chapter 13: Undying Deity

Ainz words cause a commotion. Every being of power, felt a ripple in the stable rules of the universe, causing a shockwave across the cosmos.

Amongst these powerful beings, the gods of Celestia - True Gods - were frightened! They had never sensed such law resonance. No, not even the soul of the world they reside on felt it before as they felt the consciousness of Dominion shivering in uneasiness!

The second group to feel the commotion were entities of different worlds than Dominion that decided to enter suspended animation to delay their fading lifespan, waiting for the chance to reemerge again.

These hidden entities were beyond the scope of Celestia, as they were far stronger than the gods. A sneeze from them could destroy a universe, a wave could end the True Gods and just standing can cause the birth of a universe. They were ancient beings, far older than most things in existence.

The reason for these two groups' shock was because there has never been a case of someone comprehending two opposing laws, at the same time no less. To comprehend just one law, require billions of years, but to comprehend two? The time was no longer calculable.

They were even more shocked when they noticed that the laws were not of a world but of the Chaos, a chaotic but orderly authority that predates everything. What this means is that once this person finishes his enlightenment, he will have complete control over his comprehended laws.

Of course, this does not mean the law of life and death had disappeared, no, it only means it now have a controller.

A controller is a being who comprehend the laws to the level they can approach Chaos.

Many beings could still comprehend the laws of life and death, but they will never be able to reach 100% comprehension until the current controller dies. However, that might be impossible task. Even if that person dies, having control over life and death means they could simple reincarnate themselves, keeping their memories of their past lives, meaning, they will always be the controller of life and death.

Even if by chance this person was to arrive in another universe, they would still remain the controller of these laws because of the level of laws they comprehended. Since it touches Chaos, it means one can control the laws anywhere within it.

Everything emerges from Chaos, and everything will return to Chaos.

'Incredible, brother. Is this what you were talking about when you mention our possible Creator? I would laugh at you if I had not witness this being. To such a being, we are probably nothing but ants…. Would this being, be please in being summoned here? However, with the power it possessed, it could have easily resisted the summoning though, so maybe it accepted it.' The god became deeply concern about many things but mainly the True Gods and what is going to happen to them. He could see that Dominion was slowly kicking them out of the sphere of power, replacing them with Demigod.

Since this god could manipulate spacetime, knowing what would happen is a simple matter for him, but he never expected that he would see such a scene that was outside of what he saw, but thankfully he was a cautious and well-prepared, as he had created a barrier that masked the scene from his sibling's eyes, making them not know which direction the shocking scene was taking place.

However, he couldn't hide this for long, especially from his younger sister and brother, the Goddess of Creation and the God of Destruction.

The God of Spacetime looks down at the scene with awe, 'I will continue observing; hopefully, I can get to see what kind of being this creature is. No matter what he is, I will dedicate myself to him, if he can guarantee my family safety away from this world. I don't care if he kills or tortures me, my family comes first, that's my responsibility as the older brother.'

The god's golden eyes broke through space and time, looking at Ainz.

—------

Oblivious to the shockwave he caused, Ainz's remain above two authorities, one dark, full of sorrow but seem to hide hope of a brighter future. The other one, light, brightness and inching towards darkness, confuses Ainz and cause him to distance himself but in the end delves into it.

Questions that he has struggled with were cleared and answered by something within him. It was cold and detached like an indifference ruler above its people.

His perception of the outside world was cut off, causing Ainz to miss the scene of two powerful and ancient surges of energy descending and merging into his body.

Landing on the ground, the ground around him divided into a yin-yang circle, both life and death were within reach in this circle.

The two energies were black and white, looking like night and day. The black power was the most powerful, as it contained very dark and pure energy that all beings must submit to, as it's the goal of all life, is Death.

The white energy was holy and pure as it contained all the source of life in the world, it could even bring someone on the verge of death back to full health, but it was weaker than the black energy as it struggled with its descent, merging into Ainz body.

Since Ainz was not a living creature and lacked flesh and blood, the energies found themselves inside his bones and changed it miraculously.

Ainz for the first time in eons, felt the sensation of blood flowing through his veins. It was a weird feeling since he was sure he did not have veins, let alone blood.

Looking down, Ainz realizes it was only his imagination, as his bone marrow starts to generate a strange liquid that flows beneath his bones, being mainly black, with a slight amount of white in it.

The sense of detachment and omniscience faded and Ainz woke up from his state and looked around with confusion.

He tried to piece together what he experienced, as he did, he felt a powerful surge of energy come out of his body and shocked him at how potent it was.

As Ainz senses the energy, he becomes confused as he doesn't know how this energy comes about. He had just become immersed in his thoughts, and when he woke up, he became powerful, but how?

Was it this easy to become powerful? So why did it take the inhabitants of Dominion so long to become powerful?

Not only that, Ainz had just thought about merging the two world's mana systems, creating a more powerful and unique system, but now he has two sources of energy in his body. His original mana and this new power that merge deep into his bones become more like the unlimited amount of power that he just thought about.

"There seem to be changes, I seem to get benefits on both sides as I expected, but I can't seem to use the new mana like I wish. It takes a longer time for the mana in my bones to recover, but I seem to have more freedom to use it, not limited to spells." Ainz nodded in satisfaction as he had gotten stronger without all the research that he was expected to do; he even gained control of a power that he had never expected to get, "Life! Who would have thought that an undead would gain control over Life? Hmm, does this make me a god? I have surpassed the limit of what I should be capable of. At my current understanding of death and life, I should have surpassed Hel, the goddess of death." Ainz muse as he remembers that Hel was only capable of control over the death, and it was not as strong as Odin, that secretive god. With his power over life and death, he could probably contend against Hel for control over Hel.

What Ainz was more curious about was if he was still an Overlord? His appearance hasn't changed other than the whiteness of his bones and the power hidden within. He could be like what Aura had said when she was a child, a Godly Undead.

'From this day forth, my race shall be a Godly Undead, hmm! What about Supreme Undead? This would fit my title as the Supreme One of Nazarick better. I will think about it later.'

Shelving the thoughts in his mind, Ainz focused on the issue at hand, how to utilize Life.

Holding his palm out, an invisible energy appeared that only Ainz could see. The energy was brimming with more life force than even the best healing potions he had ever seen.

Ainz looked around and spotted a dead animal not too far away, tossing the energy at it, causing the energy to submerge inside the animal.

Ainz had a demeanor of anticipation, but after waiting for a couple of minutes, he shook his head, " I seem to have misunderstood the Life. I thought with it I can bring something back to life. That is what should happen since death energy creates undead creatures, life energy should resurrect a dead individual. Don't tell me, life energy allows me to create life?" Ainz mumbled and added another thing on his research list.

Ainz flew away, looking for intelligent life to converse about the location of the legendary creatures of Howling Waste.

After Ainz left, the dead animal's eyes flickered open, before scratching its head, wondering why it was still not dead. It had done many things to end its life, but it again lives. Could it be true, it was an immortal creature of legends, could it be a Transcendent Taker?

The creature glances around its surroundings, locking eyes with a bird perch on a tree, before opening its mouth and sucking the soul of the bird out, morphing into the bird and flying in the direction of Ainz.

—-------

Flying for a decent amount, Ainz was lost in thought about how to use his new powers.

Coming out of his contemplation, Ainz looked down and saw an intelligent creature. It was a weird looking 20-meter-long green snake, with a single horn on its head, looking like a spear.

The horn snake was curled around an ancient tree, looking like an ancient flood dragon of myths and legend in the Asian Continent of Earth.

As Ainz saw the horn snake, it looked up as if sensing something. It cast its grass-green eyes over, looking cautiously at the flying skeleton that was approaching it.

Seeing how cautious the horn snake was, Ainz admired it but still felt it was funny. If it were him, he too would feel careful about some unknown being. However, the horn snake was acting extra cautious, making Ainz frown a little. It was acting like he, Ainz Ooal Gown, the kindest, benevolent, generous being in Nazarick would kill it. Doesn't it know he wouldn't kill a fly?

"Haha, don't be alarmed, I simply want to ask for some directions. I will reward you for your help." Ainz laughed but stopped suddenly as if someone had pushed a pause button.

'Wait! Something is wrong! Very wrong!'

'How come I'm able to express myself so well, without being suppressed by my emotional suppression? Could this be the result of the power I have gained? What is this power exactly! It could interfere with my avatar, which is the same thing as interfering with the Yggdrasil system, but has it only removed this restriction? How are my weaknesses against fire and holy magic? Do they still exist?'

"Interesting, very interesting! Haha! Not even Yggdrasil can stop this power, how wonderful! I will have to research its source, to command it at will." Ainz started rambling, scaring the horn snake, making it wonder if the skeleton had gone crazy.

One minute it was introducing itself, the next it was laughing maniacally at who knows what.

"Cough sorry, where was I? Oh, I wish to know if you could tell me the place where the four legendary beasts are located, in return I will give this to you." Ainz put his hand in his inventory, bringing out a crystal bottle, filled with dense golden liquid.

Ainz had not found a use for the blood yet, as all his experiments ended in failure. So, to him, he was giving something of no value away, while gaining information in the process. If IAinz had to categorize what he likes more, he would definitely choose information first and items second.

"You don't have to reward me; there is no one that doesn't know the location of the Four Divine Beast. The Dragons are located in the Primal Oceans, the tigers had taken control of the western part of Howling Waste, the Sunbird had taken residence in the east, a place full of mountains and volcanoes, the tortoise had no particular place of residence as they tend to just sleep thousands of years on end."

The horn snake spoke with a childish naïve voice, not matching its body. "Just so you know, the Sunbird Race was destroyed a long time ago, the reason was that the gods, the new ones, were interested in taking them as their carriage pullers, but the Sunbird refused; thus, they were exterminated, making the Four Divine Beast Race, three."

As he listened, Ainz nodded as he knew what the gods were probably thinking about, they were probably worried about the Sunbird Race, a race that was on par with the gods while not ascending to godhood.

The gods were perhaps afraid of the race's Solar Fruits, a fruit that made them almost invincible. If it were him, he would also eradicate them as well, but since he was interested in seeing a Sunbird, he was disappointed instead.

"Here!" Ainz throws the bottle while secretly wondering what would happen to the horn snake after drinking it.

Seeing that the snake did not catch the bottle but make it drop down on the ground as it still curled up in the tree, not forgetting to be cautious about the skeleton that it looks at him.

"It's safe; you do know that if I wanted to kill you, I could do it? As for what this bottle is, is the blood of a dragon, it should help you, a hybrid, to become a real dragon." Ainz spread his hands as he continues to float in the air, showing an indifferent demeanor. It was as if he was saying, 'If you don't drink it, I will make you!'

Although he acts like that, he was happy as he wanted to know what would happen if the blood of Sebas was to be swallowed by a lifeform in this world, would they die? Or would they get stronger? Ainz was brimming in interest as he waited for the horn snake to eat it.

The horn snake knows that there was a hint of threat in Ainz words, so it didn't want to be forced to drink the blood, so it drank itself, just wishing it wasn't poison.
