Capítulo 15: Chapter 15 The Open Slot
"Everyone head to the auditorium", the P.A announces.
5 minutes later most of the students gather in the auditorium.
Mr. Gagliano steps up and says to the students.
"The open slot is a time for you to either leave early, go play, meet up with friends, what not. I know 20 minutes is short, but this will be a time we'll host small events. There will be small assemblies award ceremonies during this time, but today we have a small competition if you choose to participate.
The rewards are 1 academic credit for the first 100 people to finish. Top 10 get to arrive late and pick a classroom or postpone a test for one day. Stay in the auditorium if you want to join in."
Most students decide to stay and Marconi included. 2 minutes later Mr. Gaglione announces.
"The competition is to see who can memorize and meet the most amount of people in the school. Advantages are already going to social butterflies meeting with new people. You have 10 minutes to write down the names and a small description of everyone you know at this school."
Marconi thinks about speaking with some students, but then just decided to give that up. Edgar, Preston and Tobias see him and they meet up. They are furiously scribbling away, Edgar says "no peeking, it's a competition after all."
Marconi doesn't know much students, so he writes down Edgar, Preston, Tobias, and the few snippets of Vivian and Randal advice he's received. Thinking of Randal Marconi realizes that the Headmaster mentioned the people in the school, not just students and he starts scribbling the teacher names and descriptions. He pulls out a map and starts to write their names and some traits.
Then time is up and everyone hands in their papers.
Tobias cheats because he has that guide he received of student names by the hustler kid. Even the hustler kid participates so the winner will probably between those two. Class is over so Marconi heads out. Edgar, Tobias, and Preston leave as well.
