Capítulo 29: 1st Lifetime: Mission (Not) Accomplished
Ivan, Elizabeth, and Gabriel bounded over when they heard Victoria's laughter. Glancing at her fallen figure, Gabriel pointed at Victoria. "What is she doing?" There was a stupefied expression on his face.
"Laughing, can't you see?" Nicholas' face grew darker and darker until his expression couldn't be seen anymore. He turned to Mai. "Can't you do something about this... thing?"
Mai laughed and helped Victoria up. Victoria, on the other hand, had to lean on Mai's shoulders for her to stay upright. "He's," Victoria still couldn't speak. After a while, she calmed down and continued. "He was called," she chuckled and wiped a tear away, "Elijah!"
The other three shared a glance before they cracked up as well, and Mai couldn't help but to glance at Nicholas' fearsome expression. Even without looking at him, you'd be able to tell his bad mood.
"Enough!" He yelled.
The giggling stopped, and everyone's eyes fell on him. He was heaving in his anger. "Don't you guys want to know how it happened?"
Victoria glanced at Ivan. "We're dead. We aren't supposed to be able to know." She giggled.
Nicholas raised his arms up in the air. "Then I won't say it!" He stormed off, leaving the six of them behind.
"He's a very short-tempered fellow, isn't he?" Heith commented as he watched Nicholas leave. Mai nodded. After Nicholas was no longer in their sights, Mai and Heith described to the others what had occurred during their time at the Revolution.
"So what're we supposed to do now?" Gabriel was confused, not understanding the next step to the plan.
"Just wait. The day the Revolution begins their mission is the day we counterattack," Mai firmly said.
They all nodded, their faces grim.

The days passed by like the crawl of a snail. Everyone became more and more tense as the days went on, despite them not having to do anything. However, Mai was convinced that she wanted to see how their households apprehend the Revolution's people for herself. She needed to know if her plan truly worked. She needed to know if nobody was harmed.
After days of begging and haggling, Mai finally got her wish- she (and the rest of the children) were secretly brought to the branch that Nicholas and Mai had gone to by Heith. This time, however, they no longer wore their disguises. Soon, the fated time arrived, and the King's soldiers marched in the streets.
The children watched with bated breath and tense expressions. For some reason, Mai felt a tightening in her chest- there was something wrong. With each synchronized step of the King's army, Mai's heart thumped stronger. When the army reached the branch building of the Revolution, Mai's heart skipped a beat.
She broke out into a run, sprinting down the street towards the building. She skidded to a halt when she saw a scene that ripped her heart into two- Ava was on the ground, blood pouring from her wounds.
"No," Mai whispered, terror reflecting from her eyes. The army cruelly grabbed each member, pushing them onto the ground. "It wasn't supposed to be like this," Mai slowly shook her head. "It wasn't-"
"Maria!" Nicholas called out from behind her. He followed her and was just in time to see the man- Ross- grab Mai.
Mai had enough time to turn her head before she was hauled into the air by Ross. "Stop!" He screamed, catching the attention of the soldiers. "Or I'll kill her!"
