Capítulo 38: A Pledge of Devotion

A certificate of entry to the castle, essentially a pass, was issued by Baron Moey and handed to Wataru. The document was made of soft, smooth parchment, bearing Moey's handwritten signature and crest, and it granted Wataru priority passage at castle gates and checkpoints. Gratefully, Wataru accepted the rare and precious document, carefully placing it into his bag.

"Now then, let's exchange this kaleidoscope for the certificate and your slave's sword," Moey said with a smile.

"Of course. Forgive me, but could I inspect the contents here to make sure everything is in order?" Wataru asked cautiously.

"By all means."

"Ea, could you do the honors? If I try to draw the sword myself, I might accidentally cut myself," Wataru requested.

"Sure," Ea responded confidently.
