His fourth years were seventeen-year-olds in their rebellious phase; about to hit their OWLs, but utterly unwilling to work ahead and prepare for them. If the first year was an introduction to the broadest and shallowest scope of the class, and the second year was a dual-introduction of dangerous magical creatures and counter-charm theory, then the third year was a bit monster focused. Which meant the fourth year was counter-curse introductory class. That meant the Fourth Years were in for a hellish surprise as he dumped a half-dozen books, two of which were on introductory to Arithmancy, and they started getting into the nitty-gritties of what curses were, how counter-curses functioned, and how to deal with dark-magic wound contamination. Which directly segwayed into Healing Magic as a sub-unit, but that was for later in the year.

Well, he wanted to figure out Runic Tattoos, but he found himself slowly growing somewhat bored with his current lifestyle. Even then, his potions craft had expanded to a moderate level of proficiency, but sadly it was a school of magic that was learned over the course of years; the most powerful and insane of potions needing to be brewed for several months and managed intently by a master of their craft over that period. It just wasn't possible for him to cram that amount of practical skill into two-hours of study a day, while also needing to procure his own reagents, supplies, regulating him to quick-brews and not the masterful representations of the crafts.

He needed to draw in the ambient energies, from where they came, he did not know, nor did he exactly care to find the source or root of magic. He was far keener on simply understanding how to cast magic first, then to understand where it sprang from and all its mysteries. He pulled this energy into his alien biology, feeding it through the metaphysical channels along his soul that overlayed his body. They were the same channels that the Eldritch Energies of his Patron coursed. The ambient magic and energy warped and twisted along Eldritch Runes pressed into his soul and mind, it screamed in a tortured melody as his Patron's gaze licked along its endless possibilities, and as it was hammered into obedience by the Trapezohedron's domineering nature, it became meek, if energetic. Held in a stable state of low entropy, like a plastic explosive ready requiring nothing more than activation energy or a catalyst to explode.
