Yes but it’s much easier to mess up because you have to create the character and make sure it intertwines seamlessly with the story. With a pre existing character you don’t have to worry about making the character and their history, all you have to focus on is making their interactions seem natural.

I’m gonna be completely honest, the best fics are the ones where the mc has a strong and unexplored backstory before transmigration. The ones were they aren’t that impressed by the system and just see it as a tool.
