The reason Yun Shan or Yun Yun could not enter is beacuse they weren't accepted/deemed worthy. Which is another form of nonesense, since Yun Yun is way more talented than Nalan Yanran.

Iirc, that gate was left behind the 1st Sect Master, a Dou Zun lvl Powerhouse. It's his inheritence. But it is said to be way too dangerous as even Dou Kings can die easily or even Dou Emperors have a chance dying.

But Hun Tiandis Slaughtering Blade was a Grade stronger, so he used the only technique He has on par with it. In GTW Xiao Yan Just used His Lotus attacks again, because He has developed stronger techniques.
