Thanks for the chapter it was awesome to read.
Smart. She's going to use her sound affinity to knock him out and even if he manages to stop her it will disorientate him leaving him unbalanced and make his coordination worse. Awesome chapter
I doubt they will kill him. The chances are slim but if they do actually kill him it would be a first. Usually 'protagonists' are saved at the last moment awaken to a new power or are holding back. He is obviously holding back something but man is he arrogant he isn't the strongest mage yet he could easily die by a flick of the current strongests finger let alone whatever non humans are lurking out there Thanks for the chapters.
The paragraph above says the same thing. It's probably the only issue I have with this novel that things are repeated often sometimes between chapters but mostly in the same chapter. It feels like padding and it increases the cost to unlock the chapter whether that is with coins or fast passes.
"Damn it." Draven clicked his tongue, already shifting tactics. His mind raced through options. Physical attacks wouldn't work against these shadows, which meant—"Neither do I," Draven replied, his voice calm, even as his mind calculated the odds. He gripped the hilts of his twin blades tighter, their enchanted metal gleaming faintly in the flickering, unnatural light of the cave. "But we have no choice. If we let these shadows control the shrine, the curse will spread far beyond this town."

I hope he loses a hand or maybe an arm fighting maybe he will learn that while battling is good for growth he should hold some form of hesitation to unexpected events. Sometimes the best thing to do is sit in the background meditate train and come up with strategies for the most unlikely of scenarios.
Despite his words, Lumine was hiding a wide, excited smile behind his hand.

I think Azriels edginess comes from the fact that he is holding his cards close to his chest both from us the readers and the people he interacts with. Once the story progresses and he finds more allies I'm almost certain we'll see a change in attitude. Although personally i don't mind how he is right now actually it's pretty fun to see him struggle on his own playing the character of Azriel. Plotting to destroy the future and possibly cement the death of people closest to him
It seems he isn't dense. He knows Tessa has sound magic and while there is low plausibility it could definitely be her. I'm sure that Arin is off somewhere stealing an opportunity that Alex would have ran into or defeating a rare monster that will give him a great boon but i could see him just leaning against a tree watching them fight like a mysterious final boss you meet at the start of a game. Thanks for the chapter
