Since you were translating this for fun and not exactly earning through it(idk how patreon "bypasses" this requirement but i think it counts as a donation/charity) you were allowed to keep going without the copyright. But now, since you'll be making money through the WN contract, you need to have a translation copyright/approval from the original author. Essentially you're using their source material directly so you need their permission to make money off of it.

They kinda initiate contracts with independent translators, use some bs to lock you out and then switch to using their own people to continue with the rest of the novel.
