I'd say skip all the in-between battles, but give a general descriptor of the bracket battles like who lost to who, how they lost, and what Pokemon were involved, and do actual descriptions for all the "major" battles involving key fighters in the league battles like Gary and Leaf.

I can't help but feel deja vu when I think of the last set of "yo" gifs in this story.
