Old. I've put up with it, and it's not like I'm going to stop reading. But they all seem to speak the same as the protagonist. I mean, at least it's distinctive enough, but when they get together to throw out praise, it seems like they take their time spelling it out. It just doesn't feel very natural. There's something there that, at least to me, makes it feel artificial. (Not enough to not read the story, but enough to be uncomfortably noticeable.)
