Except he did change it, he succeeded, all they want is to force him to be someone he isn't without actually taking the time to sit down and fix the problem at the source, they are using shortcuts to try and fix his trauma which are built on a foundation of sand which would crumble the moment he realizes the truth, lying to a paranoid person is not the solution to their problems, it merely opens up the chance to make it worse
