"I'm telling you it's either Metropolis or Gotham. Villains love it in those cities, " said Byakko as he and Shazam floated above the shore of Metropolis.
Shazam laughed at the statement. "It's not that bad, right?"
"Huh, not that bad. Batman and Supes have the kind of villains that make my skin crawl. If someone told me the Joker was in love with Batman you know what I'd say?"
Shazam retrained his laughter long enough to ask."W-w-what?"
"No shit." was Byakko's reply. Shazam momentarily lost his balance and almost fell to the ground. Some snickers could be heard from Flash through the coms. And if you listened closely you could hear the caped crusader glaring.
"And Superman's case is worse"
"Why?"
"His stalker is rich"
Shazam and Flash both lost it and bursted out with laughter.
"Enough!! we have a mission to focus on" said Batman through the come in a sharp somewhat exasperated tone.
"You're vexed because I'm right if any-" Byakko pauses as he senses a shift in the air. He sniffed a few times and his ear twitched.
"That's strange, a storm is coming," he said after a few seconds.
"What's strange about that?" inquired Shazam as he floated near him
"You're pulsing with magic, can't you feel it? The massive spike of mystic energy affecting the atmosphere a few miles out and heading this way. That must be what's affecting the storm. However, The question is whether this is a blatant attack or a distraction" said Byakko as his eyes narrowed. Small pulses of energy left his body and traveled outward toward what he sensed.
"Hmmm, unfortunately, we don't have Cyborg to check the weather satellites in that area to very what's going on" added Flash
"No need I checked, Byakko's is right a storm has formed a few miles out, and as an added effect of the storm a tidal wave is heading in this direction. All these signs point to an attack of some kind as the weather forecast for today as well as ht information from the various marine and weather research institutes pointed towards a cloudy, but sun-filled day"
Byakko narrowed his eyes, which began to glow. He focused on the ocean and detected a cluster of life energy moving toward the shore, it could have been excused for fish or other marine animals that travel in packs, but how the cluster was structured was similar to formations used by armies.
"We've got incoming," he said into the coms his tone serious.
"How far out?" inquired Batman.
"Under the tidal wave caused by the storm. They're using it as a cover or to boldly announce their presence. At this point, we could assume with some certainty the enemy can control the weather or just the element of water, but that alone wouldn't cause this effect."
Batman grunted in response as the total wave grew larger and got closer to the shore. "Can you stop it?" he asked Byakko. If a tidal wave of that size were to hit the city the damage and potential loss of life would be high.
Byakko's serious demeanor dropped for a second as he smirked."Of course, the wind beat water and day of the week." he said as he flew higher up. The wind began to condense around him. Within moments a translucent tiger-shaped wind beast forms from a combination of his wind and energy. Air currents were visibly swirling around its body.
He thrust his hands forward and the beast charged.
~ROAR~
As it charges, its roar sends visible shockwaves, distorting the air around it. The attack crashed into and destroyed the tidal wave, but it continued, with the same, if not more ferocity, as it blasted the area Byakko sensed the abundance of lifeforce from. There was a massive but controlled shockwave upon impact as he contained the force with his wind control.
Byakko narrowed his eyes as he felt the attack potency was reduced at the last minute. The water in the area suddenly parted. On the sea floor was an army now visible thanks to the parted sea. Leading the army was Ocean Master.
Ocean-Master dons a purple suit of armor with a cape. The suit of armor consists of spaulders, protecting his shoulders, and fingerless gauntlets and greaves, covering his forearms and shins, respectively. He walks barefoot. He also has a belt adjoined by an upside-down crescent moon, and wears a helmet that covers his face, leaving only his mouth visible. His eyes are covered by two round opaque red lenses. His suit of armor has an aquatic motif and features protuberances shaped like fins on the greaves and shreds and rips on the base of the cape, making it resemble a caudal fin. Underneath the armor, he wears a black jumpsuit.
A golden trident in his hand gave off an energy that had Byakko's instincts buzzing. The Trident has several special effects; it bestows immense power and authority over the seas upon its holder. The first Trident of Neptune was created by the cyclopes using materials which include adamantine and Neptune's substance/essence. It can shape/shape through use and bring forth water, bolts, and forcefields. The Trident of Neptune is one of Neptune's weapons that can be utilized by his servants; the last known bearer of the Trident was Queen Atlanta... well not anymore.
"I'm surprised the surface has warriors of your caliber God-Spawn. Never the less this weapon is more than enough to harm you...as It is did the other god spawn that dared to try and air my half-breed bastard brother in usurping what is rightfully mine." he said with fury towards the end.
Byakko's eyes widened and his eyes began to glow gold and a low growl could be heard a he spoke. "Where...is...Diana" he said as his teeth began to elongate and his claws began to grow.
Ocean-master chucked at his rage. But his chuckle only served to piss Byakko off even more. "She dead by now God-kin, I fed her and your friends to the Kraken. Once it's done feeding it shall come to the surface to aid in my rightful conquest," he said with glee.
"Now enough talk," he said as he slammed the trident down and the water further split showing the full scope of the invasion force. He pointed the trident forward. " CHARGE"
As the army charged further, the league prepared for the confrontation...for the most part.
"He's MINE," said a low beastly voice as Byakko now in his full transformed state more beast than man, roared unleashing a blast of wind that temporarily halted the army. "You guys handle the army.
Ocean-Master unleashed a beam of lighting from the trident's tip, but it crashed against a rotating shield of winds. His eyes widened in surprise as he finally took in the visage of the being he was facing. These cold, slitted amber eyes bore into his soul, and it infuriated him. How dare this beast look at him that way?
He leaped at Byakko, rising to the necessary height, and swung his trident down. But yet again the barrier blocked his blow. Byakko gave him no time to come up with a counter as he flexed the wind barrier unleashing a repelling force that tossed the Atlantean back down into the water below. But before he could crash into the water he recovered and landed on the surface showing advanced water manipulation as he stood on the surface of the water and gazed up at his adversary with a snarl on his face.
"Are you angry God-kin, did I feed your mate to the Kraken?" he said trying to get a reaction from that icy gaze. Byakko said nothing, then suddenly he darted downward toward Ocean-Mater. Who manages to block the slash of those deadly claws? Rotate the trident and fall into a rhythm with Byakko where he repositioned himself on the water's surface after he blocked the blow and the impact pushed him back, Byakko would attack again.
He needed to break this flow. It put him at a disadvantage. He continued to try and taunt the beast. "Come now it that it, she mewled you know...she begged for mercy as I-" Ocean-Master stopped talking and he felt the hairs on his neck stand up, all his senses screamed of dread.
He looked at the face of the adversary that inspired those feelings in his being. And what he said were needle-thin slits that glowed a fierce gold, yet it gave of now warmth, but a predatory chill that promised nothing but pain.
"You talk too much," said Byakko barely above a whisper yet the wind obeyed and carried his voice to one it was meant for. Ocean-Master's eyes widened as he felt the eerie calm that voice projected. Byakko glanced behind and then refocused his gaze on his opponent. "We're far enough. No more holding back."
Cruel reality dawned on the newly crowned Atlantean King. His opponent was never blinded by rage. But instead focused it and drove him further out to sea, away from his people so he could not give commands, and away from the city where the god-kins attack would do collateral damage.
Ocean-Master screams in rage and leaps at this cur that ruins his grand invasion in mere moments. His trident responds to his rage and glows a light gold as it crackles with electricity. Byakko nearly raised his brow and swiped his left-clawed hand downward. The air ripples and compresses, creating visible distortions before exploding outward in a circular shockwave that meets the Atlantean's charge head-on and the clash of elements began.
