章 81: Humanity No More (2)

"I hope the night would remain peaceful... I am really tired. The fire is so warm that it makes me want to fall asleep." The rest little Seraphyne was expecting never came when the sound of children's wails echoed through the night. The little girl hurriedly disintegrated the fire till only smoke was left. Then, she ran and hid under the roots of the same tree. 

[The night feels more dangerous today than yesterday. Will something more evil happen? The moon even failed to shine on the forest, and there were no glowing orbs.]

The chilling atmosphere in the forest was heavy with the terror of the children. The darkness seemed to be conspiring against them, and the night itself whispered secrets of their doom. Little Seraphyne crouched beneath the gnarled tree roots, her small form pressed against the cold, damp earth.

'The smell of soil is heavy. Maybe I'll be able to get used to this smell. Or maybe I'll smell like it when it claims my cold body one day.'
