The disciples of the Scarlet Sun Sect weren't able to do a single thing to the invaders that attacked their sect. The only thing that they could do was try to run as far as possible from these invaders.

The elders were doing what they could to fight back, but they found that it was hard for them to fight back.

They found that these invaders were all just as powerful as them, if not even more powerful than them.

They couldn't fight any of these invaders head on and had to use whatever they could just to hold on. 

As for who these invaders were…

It wasn't hard for them to figure out since there was only one group that had been heading towards their Scarlet Sun Sect in the first place. There was only one group that these invaders could have come from.
