Alice tilted her head to look out of the large glass window. The sun was bright. High in the sky to signal mid-day. It was a cheerful blue sky with cotton clouds gliding across the sky accompanied by the soft winds making nature sway.
Her eyes glided down to the grounds below, and the cherry blossom trees were now in full bloom. Pink buds were opening up into a beautiful array of petals. It would become a hot spot and tradition for pictures in front of the academy in a few days now.
The girls who had just been admitted would storm to take a photo to commemorate their feat. Their crisp grey pleated skirts and ruby vests with a crest embroidered to the bottom right. The uniforms of the academy were quite fashionable with the whole ensemble consisting of a white button-up, vest, tie, skirt or slacks, and black shoes.
Alice would remember seeing the INVU uniforms when she was younger, sitting at the counter in the convenience store that her family ran. The students would always walk down the street carrying a prestigious aura that was undeniable. Alice smiled into the hand that she was leaning her head on.
Tilting her head to the right to focus back on the lesson, her vision blurred from staring out the windows too long. The shadows and light bent, and Alice closed her eyes for a second before carefully wiping the tear that fell.
Shifting in her chair, she grabbed her pencil that was teetering off the desk and placed it in the center of her textbook. Alice glanced up again and took in the warm light the lecture hall offered.
Despite that, the room was filled with a dark ambiance that ran along the lines of tiredness and stress. The girls sitting in front of her were still lively perusing on their phones and quietly bickering about a matter that was apparently lipstick shades.
Sighing to herself, she wrote down the notes on the board in her notebook, the words going into one ear and out the other. Alice grabbed stationery products from her pencil bag trying to alleviate her boredom by adding color to the bleak pages.
A small ball and some additional shapes soon turned into a teddy bear. She then added a bunny so that the bear wouldn't be lonely. She paused again when the lecture was going in one ear and out the other.
Her marker hesitated over the paper since she wanted to give her full undivided attention, but the teacher was so horrible at teaching. She wanted to blow her brains out but decided on doodling in her notes instead. At least her unfilled pages of uneventful notes would be pretty.
The class ended after another hour, and Alice stood from her seat. She brushed a hand down her skirt and fixed her tie that had shifted over the hours. Brushing her hair behind her ear, she grabbed her leather briefcase and snapped it shut.
All the briefcases looked the same with the expense of a white block at the bottom with students' names written in bold font. Losing the school briefcase or even taking another's was often because no customization was allowed.
Alice stepped down the stairs to the front and nodded to the professor before leaving. The hallways of most buildings were fully glass which opened up to many courtyards. She made her way down the hall, trying to dodge people.
The newest rumor had spread across the school, and she didn't want to get caught in the crossfire. Her knee-high boots clipped against the tiles, and she smiled slightly at the girls who waved at her.
Sliding the heavy door open, Alice walked into her homeroom. The seat furthest back was already taken by some sleepy individuals. She surveyed the room before slowly making her way to the desk in the front by the wall.
Setting her bag down, she sat and took out her phone to idly browse social media. Her reflection shined back at her, and she squinted. She might as well take a photo with the nice lighting.
The camera clicked. She tilted the camera and clicked again. Alice scrolled through the photos liking the selfies that caught her features the best. Her makeup looked great today, and she smiled in satisfaction when she edited the colors of the photo to emphasize her features.
Her mousey brown hair was tousled, and her green-grey lenses brought out the pink in her makeup. She did a close-up shot of her rose-tinted lips and posted the photos. The comments swarmed in a second later.
Alice had a rather large following and that brought its ups and downs. People tended to watch her every move, but it didn't bother her much since she doesn't tend to do anything anyways.
The loud knocking announced the homeroom teacher's entrance, and the class quieted down. Alice look up and quickly slipped her phone under her thigh.
The teacher was accompanied by the dean, and he stood near the door while the teacher greeted the students at the front. The teacher introduced the dean, and everyone awkwardly followed the lead when the homeroom teacher clapped.
