The rest of the trip was exactly what Claire needed to recharge after the burnout the last four months had caused. She wished she didn't have to go back and could stay here forever but that wasn't realistic. Real life was waiting for her back in Lexington.

She and Alex didn't get much alone time on the trip, which was regrettable, but whenever Ethan was rushing ahead to look at something they had a few minutes to talk. They held hands everywhere they went too which was nice. She had never been on vacation with a boyfriend before and loved the simple contact.

Since they had almost no privacy they didn't get to kiss much but the cuddling in bed every night since they arrived almost made up for it. However, on New Year's Eve the moment the clock struck midnight he snuck a quick peck on the lips when Ethan was looking at the countdown on TV.
