章 19: No foundations at all

This golden glow became stronger and stronger until it was suddenly released into the sky.

I was caught off guard by this sudden question from Elder Tian, but I calmly said, "I was just cultivating. Is something wrong?"

"You were just cultivating?" Elder Tian repeated in a voice that seemed to have a trace of bitterness in it.

I slowly gave a nod, but there was still a confused look on my face as I looked at Elder Tian.

Elder Tian didn't say anything, but it was awkward as he looked at me with a serious look on his face.

Eventually, that look turned into a look of shock before he finally couldn't take it and said, "You're in the peak of the Qi Gathering Realm?"

I gave a nod again to confirm this before asking, "Is something wrong?"

Elder Tian didn't say anything, but the look on his face changed several times before he looked at me like I was some kind of monster.

I still couldn't understand why he was looking at me like this, so I just said, "If you don't need anything else, I'll go and rest now."

But before I could turn to leave, Elder Tian suddenly reached his hand out to grab me by the shoulder. As he held me by the shoulder, he said, "How did you do it? How did you reach the Peak Qi Gathering Realm in just a few minutes?"

This put me in an awkward position since it wasn't as if I could say that I had a system that suddenly gave me this cultivation. But it was a good thing that I was quite good at making excuses.

With a confused look, I asked, "Cultivation technique? I don't have a cultivation technique."

I just gave a shrug before saying, "I really don't have one."

Elder Tian reached out to grab my wrist without a single word and then he placed his fingers on my wrist as if he was reading my pulse.

After a moment of silence, he looked at me with a completely shocked look on his face, "You…You don't have any foundations at all. So you really don't have a cultivation technique…But how is it possible that you reached the Qi Gathering Realm?"

I didn't know what to say, so I just said, "I'm a genius?"

Elder Tian looked like he really wanted to beat me when he heard this, but he didn't refute it.

Instead, he just said, "If you can really reach the Peak Qi Gathering Realm without a cultivation technique, you might really be considered a genius…"

Then he muttered something that I couldn't understand, "Perhaps he might even be able to match the young miss…"

I raised a brow to look at him, but Elder Tian just ignored me.

After being lost in thought for a bit, Elder Tian suddenly looked at me and pulled a book out of thin air before saying, "This is the basic cultivation technique of our Falling Star Sect. Study it and see how far you can reach with this."

He didn't say anything else as he suddenly turned to leave, as if there was something that he had to do.

I just looked down at the book that he gave me before suddenly revealing a smile.

A cultivation technique!

This was the thing that I had been missing now that I had become a cultivator.

I had been thinking about how to get one from the sect, but I never thought that Elder Tian would give me one right away.
