章 96: Taking over part 1
Max had a simple objective to insure minimal losses to him and his people. He was not going to do all the work himself. Why did he groomed all those people if they will just sit back and rest? There was no reason of doing this. Because of that Max wanted to do one thing. To get rid of the majority of the mage apprentices of the enemy. Those mages had the highest chances to kill his created elites. He was not interested in that. To many resources went into making those guys. It was not worth losing anyone of them. If his knights or mages die from the hands of knight apprentices, then it is fate. He will not be a nanny of those people. They need to grow up as warriors in battle. This will be not the first and not the last fight they will need to take part in war. War is a question of life and death. It is not a joke. Also, Max wanted Valeria to take command and learn how to lead people because she will grow up to be a very strong warrior in the future and if she wanted to take revenge of those people that killed her family and maybe take over the Valeria country in the future, she needed to be able to be a leader. Thats why Max gave her the authority over his elite squad as his second in command.
Max teleported over and shot pyro blasts to the enemy mage apprentices that were standing together. If it was any other enemy those mages will be in a good position, but with a teleporting target that is shooting area affect skills over and over again it was a disaster. Most of the mage apprentices made a few protective shields that were destroyed quickly by the superior power of Max. Max was a mage level figure. Mage apprentices could maybe defend against him with a better teamwork, but none of those mage apprentices thought that they will have to work all together against one target. It was something that have never happened to them before. Because they were attacked from multiple directions the barrier had been cracked after a few dozen seconds of bombardment because of the asynchronic work of those apprentices. As the barrier collapsed in one place there were multiple mage apprentices that were killed and injured. After their first mess up all their formation fell apart, and they all fell to Max's attacks short time after. Not much was left of those mage apprentices. Most of them were evaporated by the pyro blast skill. After finishing his job Max teleported back and screamed: "Valeria you take the command. Soldiers! Kill everyone you can. Do not pursue them for a long distance. Not over ten kilometres. After you finish here come back for the next commands. Off you go."
The soldiers that were running after the king and could not catch him all this time sounded a collective battle cry. The cavalry ran forward and engaged in battle with the enemy troops that did not have horses. Valeria got all the elite squad that was built from 100 mage apprentice and 900 knights horses so they will not be at the back and get the maximum amount of action possible. The force got separated into teams and they just started to decimate the enemy forces. The enemy knight apprentices could not do much against knight powerhouses. With the aid of mages from behind it was a total massacre. The lucky enemy troops got killed instantly. The ones that did not die right away suffered the hell of fire or arrows hitting them while they were stuck in mud. Of course, there was a special team that got the enemy killed after they were stunned by a zap. Those troops were destroying everything around them and riding the horses into more enemy troops. The other troops from Alexandria were less lucky. They engaged in hard battles against enemies that had different power levels. Sometimes the fight was equal, and both sides were suffering heavy losses. Sometimes the quality of Alexandria's troops was better, but most of the time it was the opposite picture that was unfolding. The combined army had troops from a level two country. The difference was not huge, but it was big enough for the enemy troops to kill a lot of the soldiers that came at them. After Alexanderia's troops got the point that they did not hold any advantage over the other army without the special elite squad that decimated everything and everyone they came across. Soon those troops just joined the special squad groups of twenty that were built from 2 mage apprentices and 18 knight in formation. When they heard the command from Valeria that saw the big losses that those troops were taking for no real reason. When a lot of knight apprentices covered the back of those mage apprentices and knights the speed of killing decreased, but the number of soldiers killed at the side of Max's force decreased drastically. The fight continued for a few more hours. Thousands were killed from both sides. Valeria's troop stopped after around three hours of chase after the enemy. The fight was won. If she had to take an educated guess Valeria would say the enemy forces lost around twenty thousand people and Max's forces lost around four of five. It was a very good result, but Valeria thought that with better leadership from her and Max less people from their side will die.
Max did not really care about it. He knew that the fight was won after he killed the enemy mage apprentices. Most of the enemy knights were killed at the gates of Alexandria.
Max understood that he could generally make any knight apprentice even with a shit aptitude into a knight with enough alchemic help. That's why the troops that fell did not really bother him. People needed to grow. He already did more than enough for everyone. They needed to grow into warriors and do things and not wait for him to do everything for them. Thats why he just came back to the city walls and waited for the forces to return for further instructions.
