章 14: Chapter 13 - Surfacing Flower
Inside the stone building where the Kizamaru clan leader was located, there were two bloody figures kneeling before him. The old man was stroking his short grey beard.
"So, what you're telling is that the Nakuhina has been exterminated and those two arre the sole survivors? Then what do you know of that kid, what sort of history does he have with them?"
The old man asked in a calm voice.
"We truly do not know, when we were raiding their village for medicine those two appeared. Seeing their clansmen killed, they were told to flee, and shortly after we followed them. After we caught up to them, we asked for the location of the medicine they refused to tell us. Soon we started to clash and he showed up, killing one of us. With odds in their favor, we decided to retreat for now until he parted ways with them. Since then, we've been following them ever since."
The old man looked up at a hooded figured.
"What do you make of their story?"
"Lord, I see no reason why they would lie. Considering what we've heard from those girls it may be true that they've come here to seek shelter and reunite with their brother. If the marriage proposal went through, we'd need to help them out, but seeing as how their brother ended up dead, their plan went up in flames.
The only thing we don't know is who that boy is and what connection he has to those girls. He may be one of their fiances, and he's covering them both for protection. Without his protection, they would just be two girls with no clan nor backing, meaning we could easily absorb them into our clan. But, we know nothing of him nor where he came from."
The old man nodded at the hooded figures explanation.
"Indeed, and we cannot keep them here for too long. You've been loyal to me since I was a child, what do you think I should do?"
The old man asked.
"We take the girls, and toss him out. Those two are very talented at such a young age, definitely will be able to bear smart and talented children. With them, our bloodline will be strengthened and you would no longer have to look for a daughter for your sons! Then, we can begin expanding as we've planned ten years ago."
The old man stopped stroking his short beard and nodded his head.
"You're right, he already indirectly told us that his clan was weak, which is why they fled here. Even if we toss him out, his clan cannot retaliate against us, and even if they do we'll just eliminate them all. Proceed with this plan, those young brats should be sleeping right now."
At the same time this conversation was going on, Ernie was leaning against the stone wall inside the room.
Hina and Himari were looking at him with curious eyes.
"What do you plan on doing after we leave here?"
Hina asked Ernie.
"I don't know, I still need to find my father so maybe i'll continue to be a wandering mercenary."
"What if he's dead, or you never find him?"
Himari asked.
What she said wasn't rude or anything, because he could technically be dead. But, Ernie wasn't actually looking for this father, so this never really bothered him in the first place.
The memories in his head showed his father leaving that cave years ago, and since he never returned something must have happened to him.
"Well, I plan to create me own clan eventually. I don't really care if we rise in power, I just want to help guide the new generation that is to come, ya know?"
Hina and Himari's eyes grew big.
"What about continuing the lineage of your previous clan? Don't you care about that at all? I'm sure your ancestors would turn in their grave if you ditched your clan to create a new one."
Himari replied.
Hina elbowed her in the shoulder.
"He doesn't have a clan right now, remember it's only him and his dad left in the world. Just like us, he has no place to call home, so if he wants to create a new one, then he can."
"Oh… right."
Ernie gazed at the two of them and shook his head.
"What about the two of you? Do you plan on recreating your clan?"
Hina and Himari both shook their head.
"That would be a difficult task, no man would marry us knowing the child would continue on our clans lineage. It's strange for a man to marry a woman, rather than a woman marry a man."
Hina told Ernie.
"How about…"
Ernie stopped mid sentence as he turned his attention to the door, he felt a chilling bloodlust.
He started making hand signs as he slammed his palm against the floor.
"Ice Release: Frostbite!"
Boom!
The front door opened wide as a figure was about to enter, but two ice snakes had their jaws wide open about to clamp down on the person's body.
Ernie saw the sword in the figures hand and knew something was up, no one would just release bloodlust like that.
After the two ice snakes bite into the figures body, ice started to cover their body slowly, limiting their movement. After a few seconds, they were an ice statue.
"Ernie!"
Ernie looked back towards Hina and Himari.
"What? I know you felt it too! We need to get out of here."
Hina and Himari both nodded.
"Why are they attacking us?"
Hina asked.
Ernie shook his head.
"I don't know."
After they left the building, they soon found themselves surrounded by ten ninja.
"I did not expect you to kill one of our elite ninja within seconds. Even if you did catch him off guard, that feat alone gives you my respect."
A voice said.
Ernie looked up and saw a hooded figure standing above the building where the clan leader was located.
"It wasn't much. Next time, send someone more skilled."
The hooded figure laughed.
"You don't think you are escaping, do you? I mean, you're surrounded. It's 3 against the entire clan, just give up now."
"Hina you take the left, i'll take the right and Ernie go forward. If we die, we die together!"
Himari said.
Hina nodded her head.
Ernie chuckled.
He grabbed both of them by the wrist.
"Taking advantage of a few kids, don't you find that disgusting? You're right, it will be hard to get out of this situation if I was your average shinobi."
Ernie looked at Hina then Himari.
"You trust me?"
He asked him.
Hina nodded her head and so did Himari.
"Give it up! There is no escape!"
The hooded figure shouted.
Ernie snorted.
Closing his eyes, veins started to surface around his eye sockets, while a stream of blood fell down his cheek.
As Ernie looked up towards the hooded figure again, his eyes were changed. They were still blue in color, but there was a pattern that looked like a flower within his eyes.
"Until we meet again."
Ernie said as his body froze in place along with Hina and Himari's.
The hooded figure appeared in front of the ice statues and touched them. When his finger touched the ice statue, frost started to appear on his finger so he quickly removed it.
"What is this?"
One of the ninja asked.
The hooded figure looked toward the entrance.
"Search the area, they couldn't have gone too far."
He noticed the stream of blood on Ernie's face, clearly whatever technique he used took a lot out of him.
Somewhere outside of the Kizamaru clan, Ernie and the girls appeared in one of their old resting spots.
Himari looked around turning her head side to side wondering where they were and how they got there.
"Himari!"
Hina shouted causing Himari to look at her.
There she saw Ernie with blood streams coming from his closed eyes as he lay in Hina's arms.
"Ernie!"
Himari yelled out.
"What's going on?"
Himari asked as she looked towards Hina.
Hina shook her head.
"I don't know. Somehow, we made it back to where we were two days ago. This is a great distance apart from the Kizamaru clan, even if they try to come after us, they'll waste an entire day getting here."
Ernie coughed, but his eyes were still shut.
"Sigh, blinded once more."
Ernie said softly in a weakened voice.
"Ernie, are you ok? How did you manage to take us so far?"
After coughing a few more times, Ernie finally managed to talk.
"I just did a simple exchange, that sculpture I made of us a few days ago traded spots with us. I used a technique that allows me to trade places with any object made of my ice. Granted, I did not know if it would work with more than one person. But, it did. Now, let me rest."
With that, Ernie started to sleep.
Inside the cave where Aito and Yui were, Aito looked towards the Kizamaru clan then towards the direction they came from.
"Weird. That mark I put on Ernie after we left the clan is now telling me he's back there…"
Yui heard Aito and looked in the same direction he was looking.
"Impossible! How'd he end up all the way over there?"
"I don't even know…"

FishThatsBlue Let's say Ernie freezes a tree 2 miles away, and travels 2 miles east. Using his technique, he can return to where the tree he froze was located, but the tree will now be where Ernie was. However, this has its ups and downs.
