章 18: Chapter 15
After the wonderful breakfast, Yu Yingyi decided to walk around a bit more before moving onto a new area, she still needed to create a good reputation for herself among the people.
That's when a sudden feathery object flew her way, Yu Yingyi immediately recognized what it was and caught it swiftly. It was a shuttlecock, the thing badminton players used to hit with their rackets. However, the shuttlecock looked handmade.
That was when sounds of running could be heard, Yu Yingyi looked up and saw boys and girls between the age of eight to ten looking at her.
"Excuse me, sir, can we have it back?" one of the kids asked.
Yu Yingyi smiled, back when she was a kid, she grew up playing badminton and stopped playing to focus on architecture. There was no doubt she could've been a pro if she continued plater, she decided to have some fun.
"Of course, but try to catch this," said Yu Yingyi as she threw the shuttlecock in the air, but there was a slight twist to it.
When it was about to land in the kid's palms, it suddenly went the other direction and dropped on the floor.
"Huh?" The kid muttered looking dazed.
But the other kids were impressed at what Yu Yingyi did, even a young girl spoke up.
"That was cool! What did you do?" the young girl asked.
"I can't tell you since it's a trick of mine, but if you let me play with you guys, maybe I'll tell you all and teach you it," said Yu Yingyi.
The eight kid's eyes sparkled, including the kid who was dazed, all this time they've been playing with just the eight of them. Finally, they were going to have someone else play with them, and the person seemed to be really cool too!
"Fine, but you have to promise to teach us it." said the young girl.
"I promise."
"Pinky promise?"
"Pinky promise."
Just like that, a deal was formed. With this, her reputation would grow since the kids would definitely attract attention since they were loud and people would check it out.
The kids led Yu Yingyi to an empty area, it seemed that the kids had been playing here for a long time seeing how familiar they were with each other and how familiar they were with the area.
It was a good thing, but also a bad thing since this area didn't have any supervision at all. Plus, it was 4 girls and 4 boys, it was even. if the girls were ever in trouble, the boys could help them out, how cute.
"Excuse me, what is your name?" a young girl asked.
"You can call me Yingyi, what's your name?" Yu Yingyi asked.
'I'm Chun Hua and here's your racket. They said they want to play against you to see if you were actually good." said Chun Hua.
"Would you mind telling me who "they" were?" asked Yu Yingyi.
"The boys."
"Haha, that's to be expected, boys are always competitive, but they chose the wrong opponent to go against." Yu Yingyi said adding a small chuckle in the end.
Chun Hua was confused but followed behind Yingyi to where he was going to play.
"So, it's going to be a four against one?" Yu Yingyi asked.
"Of course! If you are actually that good, it should be easy to take on the four of us."
"Then I guess it's going to be a four against one since I'm actually THAT good." said Yu Yingyi emphasizing the "that part."
"Hmph, we'll see."
Yu Yingyi was handed a racket, it's been a while since she's touched one, it gave her a nostalgic feeling.
When the game started, Yu Yingyi was losing, the kids were starting to doubt her, but that was only because her body hasn't gotten used to the sudden athleticism and quick movements she was trying to create.
Due to the loud noises, Yu Yingyi noticed people gather in the corner of her eyes and started to worry. If this went on, she would have no pride to face the imperial family again, no way was she going to lose against kids!
Yu Yingyi gripped the racket tighter and...PACK. After a while, it was the first time she hit the shuttlecock. It flew up in the air and dropped quickly, the kid thought it was just a regular hit but it was the same thing as before. Before it could land on the net of the racket, it suddenly moved in another direction and dropped to the ground.
"Eh?" A surprised noise came out of the kid again.
"Whatever happened before, that was all my warm-up, the real fun begins now."
Needless to say, Yu Yingyi obliterated the competition, showing no mercy even if they were kids.
During the battle, many people started gathering, partly due to the loud noises but everyone else came due to the name "Prince Yingyi" being mentioned.
'It seems like word got out faster than I thought it was.'
While Yu Yingyi was playing with the kids, she could hear the talking going around.
"Is that Prince Yingyi?"
"I think so, despite being married to a princess, he remains humble and plays with kids in the poor environment."
"Ah, I wished I could marry someone just like him."
Yu Yingyi mentally cheered when she heard the talk, her reputation was slowly growing among the people and it would soon spread throughout the city.
She wanted to make her name a name that made people smile, a name people would gain hope when they heard, she wanted to become a symbol for the people who lived in a poor environment.
The atmosphere was delightful, everyone had a smile on their face, people were enjoying the battle between them. There were even people who would volunteer to play and try to beat the prince but failed.
In this area, "Prince Yingyi" didn't exist, only "Yingyi" existed. After all, she was just a normal human being just like everyone.
In the end, no one was able to defeat Yu Yingyi, she was simply too good.
She was now called the Prince of Badminton in this area.
