章 13: Horde Extermination

The peaceful sound of nature has been interrupted by the sound of something burning through the atmosphere. There are sounds of something hurtling through the sky and piercing through the air.

These are laser shots and missiles being shot everywhere.

The danger posed on these shots are large. It can easily destroy even a building.

And all of these are being shot everywhere.

The beasts living here didn't know what hits them. They are curious, but are unaware how deadly this things are.

Only when some of their kin were vaporized they finally realized what it is. It is too late to react though because the whole area exploded with explosions.

The whole surroundings has been disturbed by loud explosions. It shook the whole area, like an earthquake is happening right now.

Each of the shots are accurate. It makes sure that the building it was installed on is not affected as they continue their massacre.

Those monsters who are nearby the building were taken care of laser turrets and plasma flamethrowers. Those on the far distance were being shot by photon cannons, burst missiles, cluster missiles, and solar bombs.

The whole forest are being razed to the ground by the sheer destruction of this weapons. All because of the order of the one living on the second floor of this dilapidated building.

As this is happening, the savage birds living a bit farther there have felt the distress of their kin. Seeking to take revenge on those who dares kill their flock, they move to the general area where the destruction is occuring.

These birds are known as Savage Birds. Feared by many survivors of this world, they are a flock of ruthless killers who will shred every offenders of their kin to pieces. It is said that if someone sees a Savage Bird, they should just ignore it or run away from it.

These Savage Birds are a bit larger than a hawk. Their speed are more than a nosediving eagle. Their talons are sharp and can easily rend flesh. Their eyes are sharp and their beaks are capable of piercing stones.

The most terrifying thing about them is that they have a telepathic connection to other Savage Birds from a whole kilometer. Most Savage Birds lives in a large flock, easily numbering on the millions. They stay apart on each other at least some meters or more, so they are always connected to each other.

They always go around this world, taking regions and turning it into their territory. Any who dares to kill one of their kind will be met with a swift death.

Only some communities with strong manpower or superpowers can deal with them, though that is still a bit hard and there is a chance of fatalities in their side.

They are truly strong. So the name Savage Bird is just an apt term for them.

They flew through the area of destruction, unaware how outclassed they are.

Despite being birds with terrifying speed and numbers on their side, they are going to face weapons normally outfitted on starships. Trying to face these is like trying to charge on a heavily fortified fortress naked.

Seeing their hostile intents, the turrets pointed on the flying hordes of birds and shoots them down repeatedly. Anytime the birds were killed, more of their kin moves to this place, looking for those who dares offend them.

Bird corpses rained on the skies as they try and fail to launch a strike. Even those who managed to get a bit closer were vaporized by the photon cannons. There are even heat seeking missiles destroying them, turning them into a shower of blood.

Neil can only see bits and pieces of it, being limited to looking at the window. Though it is still a gruesome sight.

The whole forest has just been destroyed. Every Savage Birds in this forest are going to his area. Other Savage Birds seems to have a mind to call others of their flock that are out of their range, which makes more of these Savage Birds to come.

There are some other monsters who are attracted to the commotion his weapons are doing. There are the pack of vicious wolves who are curious and decided to take a look at it. A hive of giant bees are disturbed and some of their soldier bees decided to investigate. There are even the king of this forest itself, the Primal Bear, who easily reaches 3 stories in height.

There are even some zombies, a few goblins, and even some moving skeletons who felt these and are going on the general direction of the destruction.

All of these, and they are unaware that they are only going to their deaths.

Neil watches all of this unfolds, feeling a bit sick at the corpses falling to the sky.

"... Fuck... that's a lot of birds..." He winces as he see a particularly close one falling pass his sight on the window.

He decided to stop looking anymore and let his defense turrets to take care of it.

Though, the sound of each of his security are too loud. The explosions doesn't make it better.

"Can I upgrade this room until it became sound proofed?"

He tries to think about it, but due to the loud noises, he decided to just go with it.

After upgrading the walls for once, the sound outside became a bit muffled. It is still resounding a lot, but it is a lot more bearable than a short while ago.

"Phew. That's much better." He said.

Then he looks at the windows. Then on the door.

He can still hear the explosive sounds, and it's rattling is making him distressed.

"Ugh, maybe I should upgrade everything then. Just for my peace of mind."

He decided to do just that, as his security is continuing on exterminating all hostiles on the vicinity.

The sound on the outside finally became a lot more quieter. He felt very satisfied with that.

"Okay. Now it is not as loud as awhile ago." He said with a nod.

He decided to wait things out, letting his turrets deal with things.

The sun is just setting to the west. Evening is close approaching.

The turrets on the buildings are slowly abating in their actions. The area full of charred corpses are destroyed trees.

The once lush greenery turned into a wasteland. Every living monsters were totally evaporated or burned.

The king of this forest, the Primal Bear, lies on the ground, burned and missing a lot of it's limbs. Despite it's tough skin that it acquired through supernatural means, it isn't a match to the futuristic weapons.

The photon cannon charges it's shot, shooting a concentrated beam at it which finally vaporizes it into nothingness. It even makes a hold on the ground.

Everything that attacks this area has been swiftly destroyed. Giant bees, dire wolves, savage birds, zombies, goblins, all of them are exterminated.

Those who are smart enough on the distance decided to migrate.

The area, for once, became a lot more peaceful. There are no more moans of death on the distance, or howls of beasts.

The day ended, with him just eating his pizzas while trying not to mind the destruction on the outside.
