章 75: New Revolver

"What brings you two to my humble forge?" The blacksmith, a burly man with a bushy beard and a gruff demeanor, looked up from his work. His eyes took in the newcomers with a shrewd assessment.

"I'm in need of a weapon," Aldwyn said, his voice steady and sure. "A revolver, to be precise. Something reliable and deadly."

The blacksmith grunted in acknowledgment, setting aside his hammer. "Follow me," he said, leading them to the back of the shop. There, he unlocked a heavy wooden chest and pulled out a sleek, black revolver. It gleamed under the torchlight, the metal polished to a mirror-like sheen. "This is the best I have," he said, holding it out to Aldwyn. "It's made from the finest steel, with a dragonbone handle for a firm grip. It's reliable and it won't disappoint."

Aldwyn took the weapon, feeling the cold metal in his hand. It was a thing of beauty, yet it held the promise of brutal power. "What makes it special?" He asked, his eyes never leaving the blacksmith's face.

"Ah, this isn't your ordinary firearm," the blacksmith said, his voice low and filled with reverence. "This is an elemental revolver, my friend. With the right incantation, you can imbue the bullets with the very essence of the elements." He paused, watching Aldwyn's reaction. "But beware, it takes a skilled hand to master such power. The magic is not to be trifled with."

„A weapon that strengthens ordinary bullets with elements? Sounds powerful, but useless in my hands." Aldwyn thought to himself.

Aldwyn's eyes lit up with interest. "And what of shadow magic?" he asked, his tone curious yet cautious. "Could it be attuned to this?"

The blacksmith's gaze sharpened, and he leaned in closer. "It's possible."

„That's what I had hoped, I could use it to strengthen normal bullets with my shadows." He thought as he continued to study the revolver.

Aldwyn looked at him and asked, "Is there a way to buy bullets that have the effects of the elements already stored?"

The blacksmith nodded, his expression turning serious. "Indeed," he said, his voice dropping to a whisper. "But they come at a cost. Each bullet is imbued with the essence of its corresponding element and requires the rarest of materials."

Aldwyn's grip tightened around the revolver, feeling the potential in his hand. "I'm willing to pay," he said, his voice a low murmur that echoed through the dusty chamber. "I need ten of each: fire, frost and lightning. I also need 25 normal bullets, which I can fill up with my own power."

The blacksmith's eyes grew wide. "Very well," he said, his tone measured. "For the elemental bullets, it will be 100 Nexus each, and the normal bullets are 1 Nexus apiece. That makes it 325 Nexus in total."

„Not the cheapest, but I'll need it in the future..." Aldwyn thought to himself.

Aldwyn reached into his bag and pulled out the required banknotes. He placed three crisp hundred-Nexus notes on the counter, followed by a single twenty-Nexus note and a five-Nexus note.

"Ah, excellent," the blacksmith said, his voice gruff as he took the money and tucked it into his apron.

The blacksmith looked at the revolver in Aldwyn's hand. "Let's talk about his price next," he said, his tone turning serious.

For this masterpiece," he began, his eyes glinting with a mix of pride and greed. "I charge you 500 Nexus."

Aldwyn's eyes narrowed, but he didn't argue. Instead, he reached into his bag and pulled out ten fifty Nexus banknotes. He placed them on the counter with a deliberate flourish, the sound of the paper crackling through the air. The blacksmith's gaze was drawn to the wealth laid out before him, and for a brief moment, his eyes gleamed with avarice.

With the deal made, the blacksmith handed over the ammunition and the revolver. The weight of the weapon in his hand was comforting, a constant reminder of the power he wielded. He holstered the revolver at his side, the leather holster feeling snug and familiar against his new coat. It had survived the battles of Helgarde, a silent witness to the destruction that had been wrought.

The elemental bullets were arranged neatly in a velvet pouch, each one emanating a faint hum of power. They were a testament to the blacksmith's skill and the depth of magic that still existed in the world, even amidst the chaos of war and politics. Lila watched with wide eyes as Aldwyn secured the pouch in his bag.

"Now that's done, I'd like to sell something to you." Aldwyn said and summoned something from his bag.

He summoned light and shimmering scales that glowed in different colors.

The blacksmith took the scales with a curious look on his face. He held them up to the light, inspecting their delicate structure. "These are quite unique," he murmured, turning them over in his calloused hands. "Their composition seems...otherworldly." He placed them on the anvil and tapped them gently with his hammer. A series of faint chimes resonated through the shop, the sound waves bouncing off the metal surfaces and filling the air with an eerie melody. "They're highly resistant and they resonate like nothing I've ever seen."

Aldwyn's eyes gleamed as the blacksmith's curiosity grew. "They are indeed," he said, his voice a low rumble. "They're remnants of a creature i killed. I've got thirty-five of them, and I'm looking to sell the whole lot."

The blacksmith's gaze grew more intense. "How much do you want for these?" he asked, his voice thick with interest.

Aldwyn shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "Make me an offer," he said, watching the man's expression closely. He didn't know their value, but he was curious to see how much the blacksmith was willing to pay.

The blacksmith weighed the scales in his hand, his eyes narrowed with calculation. "I'll give you three hundred and fifty nexus for the whole thing," he said in a gruff voice.

Aldwyn nodded thoughtfully, the figure significantly higher than he had anticipated. "Agreed," he said, extending his hand to seal the deal.

The blacksmith's eyes gleamed as he pulled out a leather pouch and counted out the money with a quick, efficient movement. He handed over the 3 hundred Nexus banknotes and the single fifty Nexus note with a flourish. The crisp paper felt surprisingly heavy in Aldwyn's palm, a stark reminder of the value of the scales. He took the money and tucked it away into his bag.

With the transaction complete, Aldwyn summoned the remaining scales from his bag, their ethereal beauty casting a soft glow on the dusty shop floor. He placed them on the counter with a clatter, the sound echoing off the metal weapons that adorned the walls. The blacksmith's eyes widened even further, as if he couldn't believe his luck. His hands trembled slightly as he picked up the scales, his thumbs running over their smooth surfaces.

As Aldwyn watched him, a thought occurred to his mind. "I have a feeling he ripped me off somehow... His reaction is too violent, but anyway, I'm happy with the 350 Nexus."

"But wait," Aldwyn said, a knowing smile playing at the corners of his lips. "I have something else that may pique your interest." He summoned a spherical organ, the size of a tennis ball, with a gel-like consistency that wobbled slightly in his palm. It pulsed with a faint energy that seemed to stain the very air around it.

The blacksmith's eyes widened in astonishment as he took in the pulsing organ. He reached out a cautious hand, and as soon as his calloused fingertips grazed the gel-like surface, a low hum resonated through the shop, resonating with the very air around them. It grew in intensity, filling the room with a vibration that seemed to reach into the very core of his being. Suddenly, the sound transformed into a melody, haunting and beautiful, that seemed to soothe his very soul. The blacksmith's breath hitched, his expression a mix of wonder and apprehension.

"What is this?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"That," Aldwyn said, his smile growing, "Is the heart of the creature. It holds a power unlike anything you've ever seen. It's what gives the scales their unique properties."

The blacksmith's hand hovered over the heart, his eyes never leaving the mesmerizing pulse of energy. "What do you want for it?"

Aldwyn's smile grew colder, his silver eyes gleaming. "Five hundred Nexus."

„I hope I'm not pushing it too far..." He added mentally.

The blacksmith's eyes widened, his breath quickening. "Five hundred Nexus," he echoed, his voice a mix of awe and greed.

Aldwyn nodded, watching the man's reaction with a detached curiosity. "Consider it an investment," he said, his voice low and tempting. "The power contained within is invaluable. Imagine the weapons you could forge, the artifacts you could create."

The blacksmith's eyes lit up at the thought, his greed overpowering his fear. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of banknotes, counting them out with a trembling hand. "Five hundred Nexus," he murmured, his voice a mix of excitement and trepidation.

Aldwyn took the money, feeling the Banknotes in his palm. "Very well," he said, his smile never wavering. "It's yours. Use it wisely."

He placed it carefully in a velvet-lined box, the furrow in his brow deepening as he contemplated the potential before him.

Aldwyn and Lila left the blacksmith. The chill of the air was a welcome change from the stifling heat of the forge.
