章 249: Roots

"I see… I'll get to the job just leave the souls to me." Her face was devoid of any expression aside from a fake smile, she had stopped thinking all together.

"Well, remember the deal ok." Adam conjured a Glassball set on a golden platform in his palm. It had countless specks of lights swimming inside it while the bluish markings on the clear glass shined dimly. These were the souls of the humans and monsters, the ones who committed deplorable acts under Vult's banner in the future.

'These people are different from the past ones, by the laws that future shouldn't exist—since time was turned back—thus souls by an extension also shouldn't exist.' But when he passed the judgment he bound those souls to him, and thus the past—or now present versions—were created by the world to fill in the gaps with the divinity he provided.

In a sense, he made two Vult. One would punished by Celestine, and he was taking the matters with the second one in his own hands. With the way of his hand, the ball floated over to the Goddess. Carefully examining the artifact, Nore spoke after a moment of hesitation. If she was doing this, it should be done properly.

"Should I send them to the Northern Snow Elf tribe?" Her question was met with a smile and an inquiry.

"Are those animals still around?" She could only smile wryly, they were her most devoted followers at one point but things were now different.

"After you vanquished the Demon King and 90% of the Northern tribe—the most powerful in history because of their ferocious warriors and competent leaders—they abolished all of his laws and now run things with a new system. Any Halflings born in the territory—the sign of the Demon King—are turned into public service stations for everyone to vent their anger, or as they call it Appeasing the Calamity. In recent times they even opened brothels across the world, letting everyone use the half—!" There was more information to let him know of the merit(and suffering) of this decision, but he shushed her.

"I don't need to know the intricacies… just make them suffer for me will you?" He asked with a smile, but Nore nodded in cold sweat. Adam still didn't like anything that involved the Demon King, and it was understandable with the history they had.

"Then off I go." Adam said before leaving, but even after a few years of him leaving no one from the Upper realm—be that god or angel—approached the spot he stood upon.

That was the level of fear he commanded among them, as they know how many Gods died in his pursuit of Godhood while making up petty reasons to justify the murder(such as looking at him or roaming within his divine sense's range, etc.). It had reached the point where Gods decided to stop descending into the mortal worlds, as that could very well be the last thing they did.

'Well, I can't deny that meeting him is terrifying. And I am the chief deity for crying out loud.' Whenever Nore closed her eyes that indifferent face bathed in the golden blood of the Gods that wanted to subdue him flashed through her mind, it truly was nightmarish, as that was when she understood that if he wanted to he could kill her too.

'But he is different somehow…' The last time she saw him truly smile was when she first met him, after that, it just went downhill. Now he seemed to have regained that smile to some degree.

Even then if asked, Nore would prefer the indifferent attitude he had formed during his stay here. That ruthlessness was something that only brewed fear in everyone's heart, but for her, there was more.

'It excites me when he looks at me like he just noticed shit at the side of the road… Hng~... I nearly came at that moment...' She felt blood rush between her legs, the divinity that he gave her—as per the deal—was still inside her, and it continued to heat up her body throwing her urges all over the place.

It made her wonder: Can a God's Divinity be this pure?

Divinity is formed by the faith of the Mortal, and these Mortals have their own motives for praying. Some may do it to get their means, some do it with impure intentions, while some will devout themselves completely without questions, and some ask for everything and do nothing else.

So, how can the amalgamation of these extreme emotions be pure? It was simple, Divinity was never supposed to be pure as it was the convergence of desires—be they good or bad. What mattered was that when enough of them gathered it gave birth to a God, someone who had the duty to guide his people.

Then why was Adam's Divinity Pure? That was because there was only one emotion shared between the denizens of this universe—whether mortal or Divine—when it came to the Deity named Adam, and that was fear.

"I-I should get back to work…. Focus focus!!" And they dared not think about him in any other degree.

But to their ignorance, Adam had never accepted the Divinity that he was given by this world. The source of it was from far beyond this world, or any other that he had been to.

And even he had trouble understanding this source, because its presence was always shrouded in a veil of mystery, and as much as he wished to, he could never look past it.

But he knew that there was something beyond it.

"Who is thinking about me now?" Adam had been scratching at his ears again, but it was soon forgotten with the new stream of thoughts entering his brain.

'Hopefully, that is enough of a punishment,' Adam sunk into the comfy couch with a plate full of chicken; it had been a few days since he left the matter in Nore's hands, but the thought remained with him.

Having them remember their actions, and letting it happen to them. It was the best thing he could think of as punishment. If he gave them dicks, those bastards will no doubt start enjoying themselves—as there were beautiful creatures there all around(If you could ignore the third leg).

'Well, I made sure they don't. Programming their souls to change their brain and body upon their conception should help in making it more serious.' He made sure that they felt intense pleasure in their activities and provided the same for their partners.

But also hate this down to their very soul, and can never break from this turmoil. And knowing those Northern bastards, there was no way these guys would catch any rest with conditions like these. Honestly, he went a little too far, but that was the punishment he thought was correct for people like them.

"Moving on…" With that settled, he decided to leave it behind. He had many important things to do, or not really as he was munching on the crispy chicken with his feet on the table.

"The shop has been rather silent these weeks." During that time he had redecorated the hall a few times, pushing the ceiling high and adding a chandelier, but then brought it back to normal. It didn't match his style and made him uncomfortable.

Currently, the room is decorated similarly to the first time he changed things around, but with more paintings and vases that he made in the meantime. The simple design was something he liked, and with some modest decorations (not modest at all) it was perfect.

'Sometimes, going back to the roots is the correct answer… hmm…' Pondering over his words, he shook his head. If he was talking about roots, then he can probably never go back to it.

Adam had lost a lot of his memories and barely remembered anything of importance from his home world, then came that cursed world—and he would die before thinking of it as his roots even though it technically was.

In a way, the true start for him was this shop, and it was the only viable option for him. He was happy when he got it, but later he had doubts about how it worked and where it would take him (regarding his goal). But now he tried to not let it steer him into a ditch, and if this shop was his start then the root should be where it all started.

Closing his eyes for a second he nodded, it was time.

"I guess I can use a walk," This provided him with his next destination. Reaching the door, he was about to open it but the door was pushed from the other side as a figure appeared before him with bells ringing.

"Hello Mister~! How have you been?"
