章 73: Persephone & Zeus II
A week passed
Zeus and Persephone watched together everyday, eventually Persephone got really into it. At this point, Zeus and Persephone were both 15 years old. They had stupid greetings now.
Zeus hugged Persephone from behind and said "Hello Nakama." Persephone cringed and said "You're such a loser!" she giggled and said "Why do I like you?" Zeus touched his nose and said "Because, I'm extraordinarily handsome?"
Persephone giggled and hummed "Maybe my secret concoction worked?" Zeus patted his chest and said "I can safely say that I only had 1 extra arm grow from my body!" Persephone giggled and said "Hmm, maybe we should get more patients.."
Zeus said seriously "Impossible! Only I can be the most handsome! Or you'll run away with some hooligan!" Persephone poked his chest and said "The only hooligan here is you!" Zeus grinned and said "Aiyo! Your tarnishing my reputation!"
Persephone giggled and said "What reputation?" before Zeus could answer, a big guy pushed him aside and said "Scram, loser." he grabbed Persephone's chin and said "You're pretty beautiful. Come with me from now on."
Persephone slapped his hand in disgust and said "You? In your dreams." the guy grabbed her arm and sneered "I'm afraid you don't have an option." Zeus growled and said "Get your disgusting paws off her!" he kicked the back of the guy's knee and made him fall to his knees before grabbing his face and slamming him into the ground.
Persephone backed off and Zeus sneered as he stared at the guy's eyes in between Zeus' fingers. Zeus said "You scared now? Where did you get the balls to even look at my girlfriend?"
Zeus lifted his head up and smashed it against a locker as he said "If I see you again, I'll break those dog paws of yours, do you believe it?" he had a cruel smile on his face and the guy nodded, Zeus kicked him and spat "Get the fuck out of my sight."
Zeus turned around and brought Persephone away quickly.
They hid in an empty classroom and Zeus looked out the door before letting out a breath of relief and saying "Hopefully no one saw that! That old man will beat my ass for sure if he finds out.." Persephone sighed and said "Zeus!"
Zeus turned around confused and Persephone held his face as she said "You're becoming like him, don't you realize?" Zeus trembled and said "I'm not! I was protecting you! That-" Persephone kissed him and said "I know. Just relax okay, I don't want you to do something you might regret."
Zeus hugged her and said "What did I do to deserve you?" Persephone giggled and said "Any girl would fall for superman~" Zeus chuckled and said "We have a bit of time before class..." Persephone blushed and said "Only a little.."
Zeus grinned and kissed her, they made out. (Perverts! They're just youngsters!)
A year slowly passed
Zeus and Persephone had watched the entire series by now and could only wait for more. Persephone said "Just read the manga." but Zeus refused and said "I started with the anime, I'll finish with the anime!" Persephone rolled her eyes and said "So dramatic~"
Zeus grinned and they walked into school together. Someone bumped into Zeus, causing him to wince. The person said "Sorry." and ran off. Persephone sighed and said "Something to say?" Zeus looked away and said "It was only a little yesterday. It didn't even hurt.."
Persephone pulled out her phone and Zeus pleaded "Persephone please don't." She paused and said "I-" Zeus begged "Please." she finally sighed and put her phone away, Zeus smiled and kissed her saying "Aiyo, that's my caring, loving, beautiful, exceptional girlfriend!"
Persephone smiled and said "One more time and even if you get on your knees and beg me I will still call them. Understand?" Zeus nodded like a chicken pecking rice and Persephone pulled out a tiny plastic bottle saying "New concoction! Version 2.0! Portable edition!"
Zeus gasped and said "Same effects!?" Persephone giggled and said "Even better results!" she dragged Zeus away and squirted some in her hands before lifting his shirt, she was startled. These were even worse than the last time! And she could see that there were marks that were days old.
She took a deep breath and maintained her smile as she smeared the cream on his bruises. Zeus grabbed her hands and rubbed them on his face as he said "Ahhh. How much more handsome can I get now?"
Persephone giggled and wrapped her hands around his waist before rubbing his back. Zeus smiled and looked down as he said "I love you." Persephone looked up and said "I love you too, baby." Zeus leaned over and kissed her lips softly.
Persephone took her hands back and wiped them on his shirt, Zeus chuckled and said "You haven't come up with a towel yet?" Persephone giggled and said "It's in the works~" Zeus grinned and held her hand as they talked and walked to class.
After a while
Zeus and Persephone were eating lunch and Persephone went to the bathroom. She looked around and entered the stall before locking it and pulling out her phone, she dialed a number and said "Hello? I'd like to report an abuse case?"
In the cafeteria
Zeus was eating his food and reading a book on his phone. A guy saw Zeus and grit his teeth, it had been a year since Zeus beat the shit out of him. He never forgot and the contrary, it only fueled his anger.
He got a couple friend with him and brought them behind Zeus before slamming the tray of food into his face.
The entire cafeteria was silent and looked over at the commotion.
Zeus had food all over his face and clothes. He was angry, very, very angry. He stood up and wiped his face with a napkin before saying "You really want to die, eh?" the big guy sneered and said "I brought friends this time. I won't stop until you beg me!"
Zeus chuckled and said "A few more flies and you're confident?" he shot out his fist and punched the big guy in the face. The other 3 guys all punched and kicked at Zeus.
Zeus took a punch in the stomach and spit out air before gritting his teeth and shooting out his leg and kicking the guy, who punched him in the side of the knee.
Zeus sidestepped another punch and threw a punch at another guy before kicking the last one between his legs. He turned to the guy who punched him and kneed him in the face, before punching another one in the face.
Zeus' knuckles were bloody and he stood above the big guy who started everything and said "You remember what I said a year ago? Its time to make good on my promise." Zeus stomped on the guy's hands before punching him in the face repeatedly.
Eventually a teacher grabbed Zeus and held him back saying "Enough!" Zeus stopped and sneered at the big guy on the ground. Persephone ran in and saw Zeus, she ran over and said "Are you okay?!"
Zeus nodded and Persephone let out a breath of relief. The teacher coughed and Persephone looked around before noticing the situation and saying "Oh! Sorry." The teacher sighed and dragged Zeus away, Persephone followed after them and another teacher brought the 4 guys that Zeus beat up to the nurse.
Zeus was brought to the Principal's office and the teacher explained the situation to him. Zeus was sitting in a chair with his arms crossed, he was defending himself. He didn't see anything wrong with his actions.
Persephone on the other hand was sitting outside of the office, biting her nails, extremely nervous.
The principal finally said "Call your father, have him come pick you up." Zeus called him and said "Come get me." there was a pause and Zeus said "I beat 4 guys into the hospital." there was a loud shout over the phone and Zeus held it away from his ear.
Zeus just hung up after his dad finished screaming and said "Can I go now?" the principal nodded and Zeus left the office.
Zeus came out and let out a breath. Persephone said nervously "What happened?" Zeus smiled wryly "Sent me home, I don't know for how long though.." Persephone paled, that was even worse! Zeus chuckled and said "Don't worry, I'll just come and visit you everyday~"
Persephone smiled sadly and the door was kicked open. Zeus' dad grabbed Zeus' arm and dragged him away after giving Persephone a deep look. Zeus waved at Persephone and left.
Persephone ran back to the bathroom and threw up, she fucked up. She said she wouldn't call the police and she did, she was planning to have Zeus stay over at her house tonight so that he wouldn't know until tomorrow but now he was right in the middle of everything!
She called her mom and sobbed as she told her everything.
Meanwhile
Zeus was sitting in the car, looking out the window when he noticed police lights. The car stopped at the house and there was a police car outside Zeus' house.
Zeus got out of the car with his dad and his dad said "What." the police officer said "You're being arrested for domestic abuse." Zeus' dad scoffed and said "Why proof do you have? I'll just take it to court." The police officer shrugged and said "I just came to take you in. Go to court, I don't care."
And just like that
Zeus' dad went to court to fight against his charges. Before the trial, Zeus' dad confronted Zeus and said in a tone colder than ice "If you squeal, I will make sure your little girlfriend never sees the sun again, do you believe it?!"
Zeus trembled and said "Leave her out of this! I called the cops on you not her!" Zeus' dad sneered and said "Unlike you, I'm not a fucking idiot. I know who called and who didn't. I constantly have my eyes on you, or did you forget that?"
Zeus clenched his fists and said "Okay! You win." Zeus' dad shoved him out of the room and said "You won't escape me. Not in this life, or the next!" Zeus trembled and walked away.
A while later
Zeus was sitting in the witness stand and a lawyer was questioning him "Is it true that your father beats you? Of course, if he has threatened you to keep silent you can say that as well. You're safe here." Zeus grit his teeth and said "It's not true."
The lawyer said "We have proof of bruises and scars on your body though." Zeus said "I did it myself. The claims are false."
And just like that, the jury concluded that Zeus' father was innocent.
Zeus' father moved away and sent Zeus to a different school, far away from Persephone. Eventually the beatings got worse and Zeus ran away, after a year passed. He dropped out of school and got a stable job, rented a shitty apartment and worked for 2 more years.
One day
Zeus knocked on a house door, smoking a cigarette. The door opened and a woman opened it before saying "Zeus?! It's you?" Zeus smiled and said "Hey Aunty, is Persephone here?" Persephone's mother teared up and shook her head as she said while sobbing "She... She died!"
Zeus froze in spot, completely stunned as he mumbled absentmindedly "What happened.." Persephone's mother cried and collapsed to the ground as she said "She got hit by a drunk driver!" Zeus was rooted to the spot and felt the world spin around him.
Zeus mumbled "Drunk driver?" before laughing and walking away, a heavy rain rolling in.
He walked the streets he used to walk with her, knowing exactly what happened. He grinned viciously and walked into a pawn shop, when he walked out he looked in a certain direction and caressed a black object in his jacket pocket before walking off into the night.
Zeus took out a key and opened the house door. A place he never thought he would return to. He walked inside to see his father sitting at the table reading a newspaper, he looked over and said "Look who came back."
Zeus was ice-cold as he said "Did you kill her?" Zeus' dad sneered "The little rat? I heard she got hit by a drunk driver." Zeus growled "Drunk driver my ass! I know it was you! You said you wouldn't touch her!"
Zeus' dad sneered "That was before you ran away. A real shame for the little girl though, she had quite the life ahead of her, loving family, excellent grades, I heard she even wanted to be a doctor." Zeus' eye turned fiercely as he said "Did you do it or not."
Zeus' dad sneered "I know you're not that stupid. You want me to say it? Yes, I did. Now go to your room before I break your legs." Zeus grinned and walked over as he said "Actually I have a better Idea."
Zeus' dad narrowed his eyes and Zeus said madly "How about I send you to your next life instead?" as he pulled out the gun and fired point blank. 'Bang!' There was a bullet hole in his father's chest.
Zeus' father's eyes were wide open as he looked at Zeus incredulously. Zeus pointed the gun to his head and said "You shouldn't have touched her old man.." he grinned and said "You're going to be killed by your own son, do you believe it?"
Zeus was done with words and pulled the trigger another 5 times, unloading the revolver and murdering his own father. He wiped the entire gun and tossed it into his father's lap before walking out the door and disappearing into the night.
2 weeks later
Zeus continued his routine or watching One Piece, the only thing that made him feel good anymore. He watched it several times over, thinking about the times he was watching with Persephone. It was his only connection to her now, the only thing that made him happy.
This was the night he got hit by the truck and sent to the One piece world.
Flashback over~ (A long one eh?)
Zeus was jolted out of his memories when he heard a soft grunt. He looked down and saw that Persephone opened her eyes, he immediately picked her up and kissed her lips. Persephone was startled but quickly closed her eyes, assuming Zeus was asleep again.
They separated and Zeus said "Hey you." Persephone's eyes shot open and she looked at Zeus incredibly stammering "Y-YOU!"
Zeus leaned over and kissed her again before saying "In love? A cute girl once gave me one of her concoctions, It made me incredibly handsome" Persephone cried and choked out through tears "Superman!!" before throwing herself at him and crying loudly on his shoulder.
Zeus hugged and rubbed her back with one arm as he said "I love you Persephone." Persephone cried tears of joy and wiped her tears with his bandages. Zeus chuckled and said "You're still the same."
Persephone kneeled on the bed and her eyes were puffy and red as she pulled out a jar. Zeus trembled and fell back, staring at the ceiling as he said "Exactly the same..." he smiled and teared up "I missed you so much.."
Persephone teared up and wrapped her arms around his neck as she rest on his chest and cried, Zeus held her and Bonney with both arms and smiled before closing his eyes to rest.
