章 92: Staking Claim
YaoYao went to collect the different infrastructure map at the Ministry of Urban Planning before going back to HK office. She blamed it on her bad luck when once again the first person she saw upon arrival is Liliah.
"Someone is being arrogant coming to work so late just because she is working under a big company and the most reputable architect. How despicable?"she was trying to provoked me I could tell.
I disregard her remark and wanted to go straight to the project room where I know Felix will be waiting for the various infrastructure plans rolled up in my arms. Liliah however has other ideas, she move to block my path.
"I am still your senior in this firm. You think you can just bypass me? You must be sleeping your way up since I know you are an orphan so show some respect. You won't be able to stay long if you behave like this,"she reprimanded me.
I tried to avoid trouble,"Good morning to you Liliah. Hope you have a great day. I am quite busy myself so if you don't mind I really must get these plans to Felix."
A calculated glint crossed Liliah eyes,"So these are important for the Emperor Empire project is that it? Give them to me and I'll pass it to Felix. Why don't you call in today sick? I will help you to assist Felix today."
Liliah stretch out to take the rolls from my arms but I dodged,"No thank you. I am not sick. I better go in before Felix come looking for me."
Suddenly I was pushed from the back. To stop myself from falling on the floor flat on my face, I brace myself with my hands and knees. Everything in my arms flew everywhere on the floor.
"Tsk....tsk.....so clumsy. I told you to pass them to me. Look at what you have done,"Liliah start to pick the rolls on the floor.
Ding! As if I was not embarrassed enough, the elevator arrived on our floor with guest.
I wanted to push myself up but my knees hurt.
"What are you doing on the floor?" a familiar voice rang out the reception area.
My head snapped up immediately and our gaze met. Steven.
"Erhm....there was an accident,"I simply said.
"Accident with her,"he indicate with his head towards Liliah.
"Kind of,"I replied.
Steven came and scoop me off the floor.
"No, put me down. I can walk. It's just that my knees hurt and we are in the office,"I whispered the last part.
Liliah look at the new arrival who step through the elevator. She took a double take to analyse the man. Besides being a handsome devil and an amazing body built, nothing speaks power or money on him. Liliah couldn't shake of the feeling that he is a man of authority even though he seems harmless in a simple sky blue shirt and a pair of khaki pants. On second thought, maybe not if he is close to YaoYao.
Liliah walk closer to the pair with all the plans in her arms now,"Hi, I am an architect at HK. I saw YaoYao came up with a lot of things in her arms and offered to help but she refused. She clumsily feel down on her own, I am just helping to pick up her things."
"Really...?"one of his brow raised in the enquiry. "So why did you only pick up the plans and not her bag?"
"Oh, I am an architect after all. Plans are as important as our life so the first thing I reach for is of course, all the paper rolls,"Liliah put on her seductive smile.
Andrew voice cut through the conversation,"Mr. Steven! You are here! I just received a call from the security and came out to welcome you right away. What can we do for you?"
Andrew noticed YaoYao in Steven's arms while he was finishing his welcome speech,"What happened?"
Steven answered in an unfriendly tone,"My girl had an accident right at your reception. I just need to put her down on the couch so I can check her knees. By the way Andrew, I thought HK works by the principle of Creating for People?"
"Yes, most definitely. We put people needs first and foremost in our mind. Not only in our creation, but it is our employee values to first be caring to understand what people really want,"Andrew answered.
"Right, your architect just told me that those paper rolls in her arms are more precious that an injured colleague. I doubt your employees hold the same value as you," Steven explained.
Andrew throw a dead glare at Liliah,"She is not really an architect with us. We were forced to give her an extended two years contract after her internship because of her family influence. The Tang are quite renowned locally for a few residential projects. Basically she has no quality and no credential so we just let her sit in the office to fulfilled our end of the bargain to maintain a good relationship with the client. She has no project in hand so she can't be considered as an architect of our company."
Steven declared to Andrew,"Ah.... she is just a decoration. No wonder she can't prioritise what is more important in an accident. If that is the case, you better make sure she is far from YaoYao. I let you and your decoration off this time but I won't tolerate the second time anything that might happen to YaoYao while she is in your care."
Steven put YaoYao down on the couch at the reception area and check her knees. Liliah was stunt by what was said and the act put up by Andrew. Every architect in the company avoided her like a plague, she knew she was not signed on as an official architect but HK has a reputation to hold. It is impossible for a senior partner like Andrew to give away her secret like that. Who exactly was this man?
After Steven was satisfied with his inspection and YaoYao reassurance, he fished out a key and a mini tag loop together from his pocket,"I forgot to pass these to you this morning. It is for the apartment access. I have moved your things there so you don't need to go back to the hotel. I will need to fly back to City S for a day to make certain arrangement and will be back in no time okay. I'll message you the password for the door so you won't forget."
He gave her a kiss and left the office. Andrew grab all the plans from Liliah hands and pick up YaoYao bag then escort her to Felix project room.
