章 1: Chapter 1: Transmigrated; Got A System

"Darn it, why did he sacrifice his life for her? He did not deserve death, she does not even feel remorseful by his death," Yue Ning fumed in anger, as she dropped her phone to the table.

She was in a bad mood. She had been following a novel for the past one year, only for the author to end it in the worst possible way.

Yue Ning is your average twenty-seven-year-old unmarried lady. She works in a bank, and is fairly paid.

After work, she comes home to binge read, as she is an avid reader.

She had been following this particular novel by a popular author, and she had inadvertently loved the character of the second male lead.

She had been hoping that the second male lead gets to see the love of the sister of the female lead, but the author decided to kill off the second male lead, ending the story in the process.

"No, I have to vent my anger," she was adamant as she picked up her phone, typed a long review, a negative one by the way, before she finally laid on her bed.

"If I ever have an opportunity to be the second female lead, I will protect him," she commented sleepily before falling back to the bed.

The next morning, Yue Ning woke up with a loud yawn as she stretched lazily.

She opened her eyes, only to be stunned by the decor of the room. It was entirely different from what she was used to waking up to.

She panicked immediately as she left the bed.

"Where am I? Was I kidnapped? That can't be possible, I have strong senses, I should know if I am being moved, so where am I?" She questioned loudly as she paced around the big room.

Ding!

[System activation ready!]

"What the?" She could not complete her statement before she ended up unconscious on the floor.

After what seemed to be an eternity, Yue Ning opened her eyes slowly, she was still on the floor.

"What happened?" She questioned no one in particular as she held the back of her head in pain.

[System activation completed!]

[The system has been merged with the host!]

She continued hearing those words, and she felt annoyed by the incessant ringing in her ears.

"Who, or should I say, what the hell are you?" Yue Ning questioned in anger.

'I am System 101…'

"Good, you are a system, you should know where I am, have I been kidnapped?" Yue Ning did not give enough time for the system to complete its introduction before cutting him off with her question.

The system could only sigh before responding, 'you are in the world of the last novel you read before sleeping.'

'The last novel I read before sleeping,' she mused to herself, before her eyes brightened on the spot.

"Do you mean I am in the world of 'I will never let you go?' Am I truly in this world?" She questioned loudly, her eyes trembling by her side due to excitement.

'Yes you are, your soul has been transmigrated into the body of the second female lead who also bears the same name as you,' the system explained to her, and oh how happy she was.

"Yes!" She yelled, jumping in excitement.

After finally letting out her happy feelings, she suddenly remembered that she had a system, and she was unaware of its functions.

"Since you are a system, I should know what your functions are," Yue Ning took a seat on the bed while she placed her hands on her chin.

'Host, like I was saying earlier, before you so rudely interrupted me…'

"Holding grudges now, aren't we?" Yue Ning cut the system again, and the system became frustrated.

"Alright, I'm sorry, please continue," Yue Ning chuckled.

'I am System 101, and I am here to guide you in helping the second male lead, you have been transmigrated into the novel to stop the second male lead from dying,' the system paused, it only continued when it was certain Yue Ning was paying rapt attention.

'As your system, your job is to read novels…'

"Novels? Easy-peasy," again, the system was interrupted by Yue Ning.

'I would appreciate it if you let me speak, you need to know what is required of you,' the system was pissed. It had no idea as to why it was bound to such a rude host.

"I am sorry, you can carry on," actually, the fault was not with Yue Ning.

She was thrilled with the fact that she was living a life in her favorite novel, as the second female lead who just happened to have the same name as she.

'There are three levels, and in each level, there are missions, completing each mission gives you point which you can use to unlock various skills, which will be necessary in your major mission, saving the second male lead.'

'Beginner, intermediate, advanced, these are the levels, and in each level, there is a minimum of twenty-five missions, it gets tougher as you advance.'

'Host, please say command,' the system requested

"Command!" Yue Ning immediately commented.

All of a sudden, a white holographic board appeared in front of her, and she yelped in excitement.

"It is just as they described in novels," she commented while a sigh escaped her lips.

'Host, these are your stats,' the system', s statement brought her out of her excitement.

'Host, would you like to read the notification?' The system asked.

"Not now, I want to see the skills which are available for me, I hope to know if they will be useful in saving the second male lead," Yue Ning rejected the system's offer, while she gave her request.

'I am sorry, host, but you do not have enough points to check the skills, complete missions, then you will be able to unlock the skills bars,' truly, the system did not lie.

The skills bar still looked blurry. She exhaled on seeing this.

"I thought you said I have to read novels to earn points, what is with missions?" Yue Ning squinted her eyes as she questioned the system.

'Reading novels is a part of your mission, the system reserves the right to give you missions unrelated to novels, they are known as bonus missions,' the system explained.

'Why do I feel like I have been scammed?' Yue Ning thought to herself.

"Okay, there is no time, what is my first mission?" Yue Ning rubbed her hands together as she inquired about the system.

'Host, I must give you a warning, your biggest mission is to save the second male lead from his tragic end, once you are done, you can return to your world, failure to do so has consequences,' the system warned.

Yue Ning was speechless. Was the system scaring her or what?
