Nti Anem looked down at Young Mater Fu who was trying to move and back at Ed staring at the boy too. He snapped his finger, allowing for the Fu clan head frozen in place, to regain all his sense and movement. The Fu clan head rushed forward as Nti Anem waved his hand allowing the scribbles on the cave floor and bowls of water to vanish as though never there.
The Fu clan head stared at his son in disbelief. Even though he could not hear what the two were saying, he had seen what had transpired. His son had died and woken up without a scratch. Even his eyes and mouth seared by the fire had been completely healed. What was going on?
"Adie! How do you feel?" he checked his son's body frantically, then turned to the two staring at each other.
"What did you do to him?" he asked.
"He is alive is he not? Let us talk about that compensation," Nti Anem said and the Fu clan head paused. Yes, since his son is alive, he had no reason to not tell them what they needed to know.
"Before coming here, I gave out a message I was meeting you with the clan. If you come out instead of I, they will be waiting. You will have your battle," he said.
"And the others?" Nti Anem asked and the Fu clan head paused.
The Fu young master looked around the cave in confusion. Last he remembered, he had been in the tower. He recognized the faces of those around. Apart from his father, these two were the ones that he fought in the tower. Why was he here? Hearing the other tell his father about compensation, he knew that he had been captured. For them to be able to fight his clan, they must be fearsome people. He looked away from the one who had spoken towards the other seated before him. The moment his eyes settled on his form, he went into a daze. He could not figure out who was in front of him. He knew this face for sure, but something in him felt lost slightly. There was a hint of something that made him relax in his presence. He could not point it out. He just could not help feeling...at peace?
He understood what kind of situation they were in. He should be more on Edge, but he was not. He was not the only one who had noticed his abnormality. His father and Nti Anem could tell something happened when he looked at Ed. This boy was alert and hostile the moment his eyes opened, he was like a cat gearing to pounce, but his entire being relaxed the moment he set eyes on Ed. Nti Anem frowned slightly at this, before looking back at the Fu clan head, who was not thoroughly worried about his son. There is nothing more he wanted than to take his son and leave.
"They are called the three. Very little is known about them," he said.
"Are they strong?" Nti Anem asked.
"No one quite knows. They rarely fight, but they should be," he answered.
"That is quite vague," Nti Anem said
"They are high up on the hierarchy for us to understand. But the three would not be dispensed if the powers that be did not wish it," the Fu clan head explained.
"So, even if they are not strong, killing them will provoke the strong to come. I like this," Nti Anem said.
"Yes, after all, they came for you. You two are their goal, at least he is," he pointed at Ed and Nti Anem nodded.
"Hand over the map," Nti Anem said and the Fu clan head took out an old map from his spatial ring and handed it to Nti Anem. Nti Anem opened it for a look and raised a brow slightly before putting it away.
"You may leave, but there better be an army waiting to kill us out there or I will come for your clan. Don't think hiding in a pocket world can save you," Nti Anem said and the Fu clan head was slightly shaken. These people were dangerous. Everyone paid attention to the boy who took the tomb, they ignore the energy manipulator walking with him.
"I assure you, there will be an army of the seat's strongest waiting to kill you," he said and Nti Anem nodded for them to leave. The Fu clan head threw jade slip into the air and a portal tore into life. He helped his son up, but the boy was strong enough to stand on his own so he did so, but his eyes remained trained on Ed's body, not daring to look up into his eyes, yet reluctant to look away. The Fu clan head dragged him into the portal and it winked shut.
"Ah, I thought he would not leave your side," Nti Anem teased and Ed looked up at him.
"I thought you would be offended," Ed said and he chuckled in response.
"There is very little that offends me," he said and walked closer to Ed.
"You expect me to believe you created life?" he asked Ed.
"You still doubt it when your own eyes saw it?" Ed raised a brow, "You must know a lot about creation,"
"You jest," Nti Anem said and casually leaned on a cave wall beside him.
"I don't think I created life," he said and Nti Anem secretly relaxed, "I noticed something while I trained and wanted to try it,"
"What?" Nti Anem asked.
"The trees in the Fu clan forest became lifelike. It made me wonder if I had injected life in them" Ed said.
"But trees are already alive," Nti Anem responded.
"Then I thought I gave them consciousness," Ed said.
"But trees are already conscious," Nti Anem responded.
"Then I thought, what If I upgraded or changed their level of consciousness somewhat," he said.
"With how fast it happened, it is normal that you did it wrong and they too grew in realization wrong. Instead of becoming trees of greater consciousness, they tried to become human," Nti Anem nodded, but Ed paused.
"I instead thought that I had succeeded and that their growth in consciousness was related to their humanoid form," he said and Nti Anem laughed.
"A higher conscious state does not equal humanity. There are trees that are higher than humans have ever reached consciously," he said and Ed sighed.
"That means if I did it wrong, he would have died," he said.
"He was already dying," Nti Anem chuckled, "But Ed," he called and Ed looked at him.
"You should stop doing godlike things," he said and Ed paused.
"You worry for how much power I would grow in?" Ed asked.
"I worry how lost people are when they tread the path of gods. If your destiny was to be a god, I would not say a word. But Ed, you are human. Every part of you is completely human. As much as I do not care for many things, bad things happen to humans who walk like gods. It caused the war of the first Era," Nti Anem said and Ed's dead face showed a shocked expression for the first time. He had heard of this war, but no one is quite sure what it was really about. Before he could open his mouth to ask, an explosion sounded in the distance.
"The battle I prepared for you is trying to cross my barrier. Since you learnt a lot from cultivating these months, you should go and test your level," he said and Ed stood. They walked out of the cave and took to the sky. They looked at the crowd behind the barrier and Nti Anem paused as Ed moved forward.
"Make sure to not kill them all at once. While you are at it, I will be finding a witch," he said and snapped his finger, destroying the barrier.
