章 10: CHAPTER 10: Xiaowen's thoughts
Scene: Lin Family Home, Dining Room
"Xiao'er, time to eat" Ning Erlang called out, setting the dining table. Jin Lin is already sitting on the dining table head. Lin Shauran is at the university at the moment so he is not around.
"Qin Ran is not around?" Asked Lin Jin when he saw only Xiaowen came down to eat.
"Ah, she called me and said she will be at the internet cafe near her school to do some research." Ning Erlang replied casually.
Xiaowen looked at her mother.
"I wonder why Jiě jiě has to go to a cafe to do some research. Wen Dei High library has all the resources for research purposes. It is also open until 9 p.m. to accommodate classes who are doing their evening revisions." Xiaowen commented.
Ning Erlang looked at her younger daughter with a frown, brows creasing. " I don't know. That's what she told me when she called me this afternoon. Perhaps she didn't know."
"That would be impossible that is the first thing our school mention in our orientation. However, the school doesn't prohibit using the cafe outside. It is just that..." Xiaowen frowned, as though thinking if it is appropriate for her to tell her parents something.
"What?" Ning Erlang asked.
"Most delinquents from Qin Ran's class 8 usually spend their time there goof around. I am just concern that Qin Ran will be influenced by them and get distracted from her studies."
Ning Erlang brows creased even more. She shouldn't have allowed Qin Ran to stay out late.
"Let me call her back home. She shouldn't be with people that will influence her to do wayward things." Ning Erlang said, standing up to grab her phone.
"Let's eat first. Maybe you are overthinking too much." Lin Jin said. He looked at his daughter. "Watch your sister well. If she indeed spends too much time with delinquents and her grades are not good, then that's when telling us so we can correct her ways. Right now, let's eat."
Xiaowen looked down at her plate and quietly started eating.
Scene: Inet 8, Internet cafe across Wen Dei High
Qin Ran looked at the time and saw that it is 30 minutes to 9 pm. She stretched out her hand and was quite happy for her achievements tonight. She not only reached the 12th level, she even completed a 200k yuan worth assignment. All she needs to do is to wait for the money to be transferred to her personal account and buy her own laptop.
She sneered thinking about what evil seeds Xiaowen must have spewed right now to plant doubts in Ning Erlang's mind.
But she really doesn't care about what her mother thinks about her. She already spent one lifetime feeling hurt about it. She knows that no matter what she does, Ning Erlang would always rather see her as a bad seed.
However, she wants to portray a good daughter for at least 2 years. The moment she is an adult, she would move out.
