章 12: Only God Knows
"One more step, I'll make sure your boss wouldn't come out alive from this place." As soon as the crowd heard Luke's threat, they immediately paused in their tracks and no longer dared to advance to Luke.
Seeing they were so obedient to be commanded upon when he threatens them, Luke breathed out relief.
"Hand over our boss!" One of the men's yelled demandingly.
"Why should I? Why don't we make a deal?" Luke offered. He knows that their patience wasn't big and could snap at any moment. Thus, he didn't wish to taunt them any further and offered an option in which both parties in a win-win situation.
"What deal?"
"Let me get out from this place first, and then I'll hand over your boss when I reach a safe distance. How's that sound?" Luke explained.
"Heh? How can we know that you'll not betray us by immediately escaped with our boss on ur palm the moment you stepped outside this district." The man retorted.
"That's the only way. If you don't want, then I'll just break your boss neck and try to engage in a fight with all of you." Luke argued as he tightens Liyan's neck pressure, causing the latter to frown in pain.
Seeing Luke was really trying to kill their boss, the man bellowed, "Wait! Wait! Alright, we'll listen to your request. But if you dare to lie to us, we'll haunt you for the rest of your life!"
Luke was about to respond when a scornful laugh sounded, "Why should you guys make a shady deal with him. Let's just beat the shit out of him."
Everyone's attention immediately turned to him, with the crowd exclaimed in surprise, "Ridik!"
Luke also turned, and he glares hopefully at the man. It was the same person who launched a sneaky attack on him a minute ago.
"Urgh...I'm so scared of being glared at like that." Ridick mocked how Luke looking at him and continued, "Why should we afraid of one guy? If we're fast enough, we can corner him before he managed to snap your boss neck."
'Fool!' Luke thought to himself. If he were planned to snap Liyan's neck from the start, he wouldn't hesitate to kill him right now. But as a human who hasn't plucked human lives, Luke couldn't kill Liyan easily like he just said toward the mob.
'This man really has a deep resentment toward Liyan. If It was another guy who shares the situation as him now, he'd probably kill Liyan at the spot before the mob able to stop him.'
Seeing Liyan's gang members getting slightly convinced by Ridik's suggestion, Luke knows he can't stay any longer and immediately threw Liyan's body fiercely in the crowd's direction before stormed out of his way to the road he took previously.
Seeing Liyan's group members were busy inspecting Liyan's body instead of chasing Luke, Ridik cursed under his breath, "What a bunch of worthless scum."

As he sprints, Luke tried not to look back, knowing it would slow his pace. He only dares to reduce his speed upon spotted a glimmer of light from the sun. That means he's already close to the main road, where many skyscrapers no longer obstruct the area.
Once he arrived at the pedestal street, many pairs of eyes immediately turned to him. Slightly bewildered by many stares that directed over him, Luke inspected his appearance.
Tattered hoddie, a ripped pair of jeans, and a few bloodstains on some part of his clothes. This was the current him.
'No wonder people are looking at me strangely.' Luke thought inwardly before silently lowered his head, trying not to caught people's attention and starts walking while recalling the battle earlier.
'That was awesome! I could now beat a gang leader with my current power. Whereas, if it were in the past, I could only probably scurried away in fear after meeting such a guy.' Luke thought to himself in satisfaction.
He didn't know what's happening, but the moment he fights, it was as if his own body starts moving by itself reflectively. It's also occurred during the fighting between him and Johny.
"What could it be?" Luke mumbled in confusion before a thing crossed his mind. Instantly, he summoned the system.

'It's more than I thought. It looks like another power-up would be coming soon!' Luke thought excitedly as his EXP increased to 115.
His eyes just then fell on the HP bar, which shows 15/20.
'I wonder would I die, the moment the number reached zero?'
In the MMORPG game he usually played, his character would die immediately once its health points reached 0. But later on, it could be revived or spawn automatically by itself. However, this was the real world. And Luke had a hunch that the outcome would be different from the game.
'Only God knows'
Knowing thinking it would make his head dizzy, Luke brushed that thought and checked the time on his wristwatch. His eyes widened at the realization it was already 8 o'clock. He must hurry or else his mother would arrive at home sooner than him, upon thinking about his mother's angry expression. Luke hastened his pace.
