章 213: Ch 228: Blood Milkshake

My stomach cramped more painfully. "Would you mind?" I asked, rubbing my belly.

Darlene set the soup bowl on the tray and then she disappeared. Relatively convenient, she returned with Kai from the door. He shut the door and then came to my bedside and sat.

"What is it, my love?" Kai inquired when he saw me rubbing my belly.

"Something's wrong!" I gritted in pain. "My stomach is cramping horribly."

Kai caressed my stomach and then he ordered. "Darlene, find Rome, and have him make a vanilla milkshake."

"Yes, Master, right away," Darlene responded respectfully before she vanished right there.

"Is the baby ok?" I asked, worrying as Kai kept rubbing my belly.

"The baby will be fine," he fluffed my pillows, saying. "He or she is letting you know it's not fulfilled with what you've been eating."

"What is that supposed to signify?" I ask, baffled. "I've been trying to eat, but it's difficult when I feel nauseated."

Kai knowingly smiled when Rome and Darlene came into the room without knocking. Rome handed Kai the milkshake with a lid. I watched as he opened the lid and then he bit his wrist. My lips cringed when I heard his flesh breaking open. This strong odor of blood penetrated my nose. It smelled so sweet that I was repulsed by it. Yet at the same time, I craved a taste.

I watched as Kai poured his blood into the milkshake. Using the straw, he stirred it into the blended ice cream before he shut the lid and handed it to me.

"I'm not drinking that!" I push it away, virtually raising my tone.

Kai smiled, "You have to for the baby. Our baby is very dominant with his or her instincts. Therefore, the baby needs blood."

"How can mothers go without giving their unborn vamp babies blood, but yet I have to drink it?" I asked, keeping the cup away.

"Because the vampire father isn't involved with the pregnancy. I'm involved with the pregnancy and you have to remember. This vamp baby is an alpha and he needs blood," Kai explained and his words sent a shockwave into my ears.

"He?" I repeated and cringed in severe pain.

Kai knowingly smiled and rubbed my stomach to try to comfort me. "I'm pretty sure we're having a boy because of how dominant our baby is. Having higher dominance, most likely means it's a boy."

I asked, snapping sarcastically, "What makes you an expert?"

Dismissing my snappiness, Kai heartily replies. "Vampire fathers can at times sense these things over a vampiress mother or human mom like you. That's how Ace knew he was having a son, over Rose. And I can sense a powerful vamp baby."

"This is unreal!" I said, seizing the cup. "I can't drink blood."

Suddenly, my stomach cramped tightly enough that I leaned forward and screamed. It felt like I was in labor, but it was too early for that. I was only eleven weeks pregnant. Again, I pushed the cup into Kai's hand, refusing to drink it.

"You have to drink it, Princess," Rome interjected, standing at the bedside. "The baby is hurting from not getting any blood."

"This is insane!" I screamed as sweat soaked my forehead.

Darlene hustled to the bathroom and came back out with a damp washcloth. Kai took it from her and dabbed it on my forehead once he laid me on the pillows.

"You need to drink the milkshake or else the cramping is only going to get worse," Kai gently told me while he cooled me off.

I sat up and took the milkshake again. I couldn't believe my actions. My aversion to ever consuming blood has been compromised by the love I have for my unborn baby. Conquered by motherly love, this time, I pinched the straw to my lips and sucked the milkshake in. A slight taste of blood skimmed my tongue before the chilly feeling entered my throat. I kept sipping while Kai stroked my back. Somewhere from there, that coldness went into my belly. Instantly, the cramping stopped and I felt fully replenished. Under one minute, I sipped that whole milkshake empty. Then I gave it to Kai weirdly smiling at me.

"Well, I'd say that's what you needed," he said, shaking the empty cup to be sure I finished every morsel.

I hiccuped and they raised their brows at me with shocker eye gaping expressions.

"Not another word or else," I warned, but they laughed at my false threat.

"I'm glad you feel better. You should rest now," Kai kissed my head, chuckling. Then he covered me up when Rome and Darlene left the room with the cup. After Kai tucked me in, he kicked off his shoes and took his shirt off. Then he crawled over to his bedside and laid down with me between the blankets. I rolled his way and saw he got himself comfy beside me.

"Do you really think we're having a boy?" I asked and he caressed my jaw with his thumb.

"Not entirely, but it's a good speculation," he replied, smiling. "Before too long we'll know for sure."

"I can't wait to know for sure," I smiled tiredly. "When do I see Dr. Riley again?"

Kai informed me, "She wanted to see you when you're twelve weeks. So I made an appointment for you to see Dr. Riley next Monday."

"Will you come with me?" I asked, looking into his tame eyes.

He leaned over and kissed my lips sweetly. "Of course," he uttered. "Get some rest."

I cuddled on his bare chest and he held me.

On Wednesday's sunrise, I felt well enough to attend college. Kai wasn't in bed when I got up to gather my clothes. To my guess, he was working again. As I was moving around my closet, I noticed I felt better than ever. Who would've known that a blood milkshake would do the trick? It was uncanny to think I drank Kai's blood, but in my defeat to sacrifice my humanity, it was what the vamp baby needed.

In a jiffy, I was ready, and at the campus to attend my classes. Before class started, Billy handed me three papers with important notes highlighted on them. "I copied my notes for you from yesterday's class," he said, sitting beside me.

"Thanks, Billy," I thanked him.

That's when the Professor came hustling in. For once he was the one that was six minutes late.

"Alright class, take out yesterday's notes. And we'll go from where we left off from Tuesday," he announced and I was surely grateful Billy was nice enough to make copies for me from his notebook.
