*Brynn*
When Anthony left Brynn in her tiny cave cell, she at first felt an intense sense of relief that he was gone. She could still feel his hands on her wrists … his breath on her neck. In the time it took him to drag her from William’s cell to her own, she feared her skin might actually catch fire from pure hatred.
In her meeting with Cedric, she’d come to the conclusion that the Alpha was cruel only when cruelty was the simplest means to an end he desired. He used brutality to get what he wanted because it was a fast-acting, effective tool.
But Cedric had been willing to let William go when he thought his departure would be the end of William’s aspirations. It was only when he realized William was still in the forest, biding his time, that Cedric made the decision to hunt him down.
He didn’t go after William out of spite or some overt need for revenge. Cedric only acted when he knew that William was a definitive threat to his station.
