章 14: Between the warm coldness

"Yeah, you're right, Mooni… I'm glad you protected me from that monster." Shin thanks you as he closes the system by clicking the button on the digital goggles.
"It's nothing to thank you for, it's the least… and I needed to talk to you a bit too." Mooni replies, and she adds that she wants to talk to him personally.
Shin asks, and she replies that she needs some time in the bathroom first to urinate, too.
"Ah… okay, I won't look." Shin replies with a somewhat shy expression, and he sits down in the closed corner of the bathroom without looking at Mooni.
While Shin waited for Mooni to urinate on the same spot where he was urinating, he began to look at the call history he had missed.
Since he'd been asleep for a long time, he was curious to know if anyone had called him… and there was nothing like a sudden glance to find out who was calling him.
After a while, Shin scrolled down the list of recent missed calls and there it was, Emi Nanoa.
Missed call at 5:47 in the morning.
"What the hell, what did she want to talk to me about?" Shin laments and wonders what his mother wants with him, and scrunches up his face in thought.
But without thinking too much, he calls his mother and waits for her to answer.
"Hi son, good morning, how are you my studious son?" Emi greets her son with cute compliments, but he's a little annoyed that he doesn't feel more at ease listening to these compliments.
"Eh… I'm fine, Mom, you don't have to talk like that, okay? You can call me by my name." Shin replies, mumbling a little and feeling a little embarrassed that he can't speak very well after that.
Emi starts to giggle a little and answers her son calmly.
"It's okay Shin, I'm not going to keep complimenting you like this… I realize you've grown up, but you know what?" Emi replies, but she then asks her son a question, and he listens without understanding the reason for the question.
"What? What are you talking about?" Shin asks as he stretches his leg out on the bathroom floor and turns his head slightly to the side.
At that moment, Emi is eating a yakisoba that she had ordered at the restaurant, and she then says a few things.
"To a mother, in her eyes you'll always be a baby to her... no matter how big you are." Emi said, and she then hung up without giving any more answers.
Shin was at a loss for words after that and put his cell phone down.
His mind remained in thought after that, because he felt that his mind was so confused and different… and yet so different compared to his mother's.
He doesn't quite understand why they look the way they do, because it doesn't make sense in his head.
Perhaps when his mother has some free time, he'll be able to ask her more questions in the future… his mind is focused on just one thing.
"It's taking a while to pee, isn't it, dear Mooni?" Shin said with a neutral expression because he was waiting too long.
"I HAVEN'T PEED FOR DAYS, I'M SORRY!" Mooni shouts and she flushes the toilet and leaves.
Mooni appears to be washing her hands at the sink, breathing heavily from urinating too much in that toilet.
She was currently wearing ordinary clothes consisting of small dark blue jeans with a light blue jacket, and a black cropped top while her belly stuck out.
She was different from the last time Shin had seen her in that alleyway being almost massacred against Fearen.
In the alley, she was wearing only a white bikini, with her hair tied up in a ponytail.
Her large wounds, which contained scratches and punctures, had disappeared over her body.
The boy observed this without understanding much, and the more he observed… the more it became a reason to be caught in the act by her.
"Relax, those wounds didn't do any good." Mooni said, and she walked over to Shin to help him.
She puts her hand close to Shin's face, signifying that she wants to help him up off the ground. He holds her hand with all his strength, and she lifts him as if he were a feather from a bird.
"Shin Nanoa, after that day... you must remember that I touched my two fingers to your forehead, right?" Mooni asks, turning his head as he places his hand on his chin with a smile.
He remembers her touch on his forehead, and it felt different… there was a slight burning sensation when he felt it.
Shin places his hand on his forehead and two small balls glow.
A small burning sensation begins to appear on his forehead, but… this burning sensation doesn't bother Shin at all.
It's making him as calm as if he were flying over the densest clouds in the sky.
"Do you feel an energy coming over you?" Mooni asks, placing her hand on his chest.
Bright white smoke begins to rise from her hand, and it enters Shin's skin.
Shin's hair begins to change to snowy white, giving him a cold sensation.
A balance between warmth and cold was struck between the two of them.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Mooni Sato... your future Vinx companion." She says hello to Shin, and he looks at her with his black eyes, the color of outer space.
The two of them suddenly close their eyes and feel their two energies intersecting in their bodies.
