"Balanos!"
It was the same scenery that he had caused many times, but it was the first time he ever did in front of so many others.
However, Sebastian had no time to care about the eyes that were focused on him, using Balanos' energy, he stood at the forefront of the attack.
"HOOOH!"
Sebastian roared.
A translucent green light began covering the area that the beam was attacking.
It didn't take long for it to disappear. Sebastian stood in front of everyone with his entire body smoking from the beam's heat.
"You finally used it! Hahaha!"
The Valian exclaimed and cracked his knuckles.
"It's that armor again…"
The sorcerer frowned as fireballs floated around her.
However, Sebastian didn't care for their reaction.
He slowly turned his head and saw everyone stunned.
Amy, James, Freddie, Willow, and all of the other students and teachers here. Nobody was exempt, they were all stunned.
"T-that armor…"
James muttered.
Like many others here, they had seen the armor before. In the recording sent back to the House of Luna, they all saw it.
"Sebastian, you…"
Even Amy's voice was trembling.
"Oh. So you're the one that he told us to watch out for."
The unknown man spoke. Sebastian turned to look at him and released his energy—or more specifically, Balanos' energy.
—He's too strong.
"..."
If Balanos were to judge the man as someone that strong, then he was, at the very least, an upper-rank Magus.
Sebastian who was only enough to contend against the Valian wearing his armor wouldn't be able to do anything in the face of such power.
But, if he were to give up here…
"That doesn't change anything."
Sebastian held Mile's spear and poured enough energy inside it to make the lightning rampage.
"In the end, I still have to fight them."
—You're really a fool. Wanting to fight a Magus as an Apprentice. Not to mention your broken bones from the Valian's attacks.
If it wasn't for Sebastian healing himself, he wouldn't even be able to stand right now, let alone fight.
"I've always been a fool."
—You've got that right.
"What have you been muttering to yourself about?"
The unknown man asked. Because of the noise from the lightning rampaging around Sebastian, he couldn't hear Sebastian even if he wanted to.
"I'm thinking about how I can send you and your friends back to where you came from."
"Hmph."
The unknown man snorted and raised his hand.
"With just you? Even if you have Soul Armor, you're no match for me. An Apprentice wanting to take down someone at the peak of Magus?"
As much as Sebastian wanted to use his flames, his energy was already depleted. The only reason he could still use lightning was because of the spear. It converted Balanos' energy into lightning.
"Lightning Strike!"
Sebastian made the first move. He completed the footsteps required to successfully use Lightning Strike and appeared in front of the unknown man.
However, the spear stopped a foot away from the unknown man. It was being stopped by some invisible force.
Sebastian leaped back and the ground in front of him suddenly erupted. A spike made of earth shot up. If he hadn't leapt, he would've taken the brunt of that attack.
"You're not just facing a single enemy."
The sorcerer spoke and waved her staff again.
Dozens of swords manifested around Sebastian but before they could fully materialize, Sebastian used Balanos' energy to release a shockwave and dispersed all of them.
"He's able to use a Caster's power…"
The sorcerer frowned.
"Does Soul Armor provide energy too?"
"No, it shouldn't. Soul Armor is strictly a physical augmentation."
The sorcerer answered the unknown man's queries.
"Hmm… This boy is getting more interesting by the second. Unfortunately, I don't have any more time to spare."
"?!"
Sebastian suddenly felt a pressure weigh down on him as he was sent down on one knee.
—Release some of the energy on your surroundings, quickly!
Before the unknown man could make another move, Sebastian accomplished Balanos' order. The pressure lessened greatly.
"Death Throes!"
Sebastian took a step forward and thrust his spear at the unknown man. However, just like before, his spear was stopped by an unknown force.
Sebastian clicked his tongue and retreated. He tried kicking the unknown man too but his foot was stopped as well.
'It can block both physical and energy attacks…'
If that was the case, then Sebastian could only exceed the unknown man's defense or drain him of all his energy, neither of which were possible at the moment.
"Looks like you forgot about me~!"
"?!"
The Valian appeared right in front of Sebastian as he was absorbed in his thoughts and landed a blow on him. If it was before he wore the armor, he would've been blown away but now, he only staggered slightly before countering.
"Grand Judgment!"
A beam of light suddenly charged at the unknown man but as if he was a rock in the middle or a river, the beam couldn't do anything other than go around him.
"Amy!"
"...Sebastian, as much as how shocked I am right now, I'm not going to ask for an explanation yet."
"..."
"Wings of Light."
Like when she had faced the sorcerer before, there was now an aura of light surrounding her and her wings. However, there was a difference. Back then, it was a very faint light, but now it could clearly be seen.
"I'm well-aware of my current strength. As I am now, I'll only be able to defeat the sorcerer in single combat. I'll take the man in the middle while you hurry and defeat the other two."
"Got it."
"..."
Amy didn't want to look at Sebastian. Looking at the armor he was wearing kept reminding her of the images that she had seen.
'Would Sebastian really do something like that…?'
Amy knew about the existence of Soul Weaving. One's Soul Armor wouldn't change from the moment the person is born until death.
It was impossible for another to have the same Soul Armor as Sebastian's too.
However, there was a more important matter that she had to take care of before confronting Sebastian first.
"An Adept thinks she can stall enough time against me to defeat them?"
The unknown man chuckled, "how cute." He raised his hand and a small sphere of blue light manifested.
Amy quickly moved. She flapped her wings and flew. If she was stationary, she was an easier target. Not to mention that the attack could reach the exhausted students and teachers behind her.
As the unknown man continued to try and shoot her down, Sebastian faced off against the sorcerer and the Valian.
While the sorcerer couldn't damage him because of his armor, could still do many other things that proved troublesome.
Sebastian raised his arm and blocked the Valian's consecutive blows.
Each punch of his created a shockwave of wind.
Even though he was covered by the armor, he could still feel his body tingling from the shock produced by the Valian's fists hitting his armor.
As Sebastian planned to counter the Valian by leaping backward to gain some momentum…
"Crap!"
His feet were stuck in the ground.
He slowly began sinking inside and no matter how he pulled, he wasn't able to get out.
"Oop!"
The Valian cheerfully punched Sebastian and put him down on all fours.
Now, all of his limbs were submerged in the ground and he was sinking even more rapidly than before.
The Valian didn't let the opportunity go to waste. He quickly began hitting Sebastian from a safe distance. Though he couldn't attack as fast as before, with each attack, Sebastian sank deeper and deeper.
"Aagghh!"
Sebastian roared as he tried to pull himself out but nothing was working. The spear was also rapidly disappearing and if it wasn't for Sebastian holding onto it, it would've already been underground.
—Use your flames, nothing else will work.
Sebastian had tried to use both Balanos' energy and lightning but neither proved effective against the mushy ground.
However, like his earlier dilemma, there was a reason that he didn't use fire. While Balanos' energy could be converted to lightning with the use of the spear, the same couldn't be said for his fire.
To use fire, he would have to rely on his own energy which was on the verge of going out.
But, there was no time to think about any other strategy. Sebastian manipulated the stigma and set his person on fire.
While the Valian wouldn't be affected with an Apprentice's flames, the ground will.
The mushy ground solidified and allowed Sebastian to escape by breaking through it.
He took a distance from the Valian and the sorcerer and took deep breaths.
—You've taken too much damage, the Soul Armor will fade soon. Use your shadows and leave.
"You know I won't do that…"
—Sebastian, there are plenty of things left you can do but none of them can be done if you're dead. Once the Soul Armor fades, you're going to turn into nothing but a sandbag.
"Save my life and trade it for Amy's and everyone else's? You should know how what I value more than my own life."
—…
Though Sebastian tried to act brave in front of Balanos, he also knew it. He had reached his limit. Even if he were to somehow miraculously beat the Valian and the sorcerer, he wouldn't be able to lay a dent on the unknown man before his Soul Armor disappeared.
"Ahak!"
Beside him, Amy crashed into the ground. There were wounds all over her body but none were fatal.
'She's almost out of energy too…'
The technique she was using to increase her output was draining her energy faster than usual. There was also the fact that in the earlier attack, she had used the most energy to defend against it.
"I've had my fun."
The unknown man spoke and appeared right in front of Sebastian. He pointed his fingers at Sebastian's chest and a beam of light shot through Sebastian.
"Gah…"
Sebastian dropped down on one knee. While his armor wasn't pierced and his body didn't seem to be damaged, he could feel immense pain coming from his chest.
"Sebastian!"
Amy cried out and tried to attack the unknown man but she was sent flying with just a wave of the man's hand.
"Farewell."
The man raised his hand covered in blue light and swung it downward.
"Dragon Devourer."
It was a calm and soft voice.
With all the noise in the surroundings, the voice shouldn't be heard. However, Sebastian and the unknown man heard it clearly.
A giant dragon made out of flames enveloped the unknown man and for the first time, it hit. The attack wasn't stopped by some mysterious force and the man was sent crashing into one of the burning buildings.
Sebastian turned his head at the source of the attack with difficulty. He saw Jonathan approaching him with his one arm ablaze.
"So, you're the killer."
Jonathan swung his hand covered in flames.
