章 146: The Ants May Come in Swarms, But A Lion Will Not Fall

"Nothing…?"

Deimos looked at the people surrounding her with a skeptical gaze. They followed her all the way to this place to avenge someone yet they don't want her to do anything?

"That's right. You see, it wouldn't have been much of a problem if all you did was send him to prison, but you even decided to interfere with our work in getting him out."

The woman began explaining.

"It wouldn't have been a problem for us normally, but you left us no choice but to resort to this."

'Interfered with their work… Wait?!'

"Who are you people?!"

"You still don't know?"

In response to Deimos' flustered shout, the woman unzipped the front of her shirt and revealed the top of her chest. Branded on her breasts was a blue rose. The snake-like man also showed his thigh to show the mark.

"A snake-like man who wears weird clothes, a man resembling a golden lion, and a feisty woman with two different strands of hair..."

It was only then that Deimos put two in two together. She had heard of them once before, but she didn't even think she would be able to use that information someday.

"...Blue Rose's mysterious and most powerful 3rd squad…"

"So you have heard of us~ Ehehe!" The snake-like man laughed again.

She had thought they were fools during their earlier confrontation but now that she knew about their identities, she could only feel fear. All the hairs on her body were standing up and it took all she had to stop herself from shivering.

The tales surrounding the 3rd squad were few and they were considered myth, but, who else would be able to defeat her so easily and fit the descriptions so well?

The last she had heard of them was four years ago, they had rampaged in the city for an unknown reason. However, nobody had actually seen them and provided proof so it was just brushed off as people seeing things.

'If they want to, they can destroy the current House of Luna with just them…'

The House of Luna wasn't weak—it was just that after Bryan and Markus' disappearance, their overall power could only be half of what they originally had. Even with Amy becoming a Caster infinitely nearing Magus, they still hadn't reached their former glory.

However, that didn't mean that they could be stepped on by anyone. As of now, only the House of Sol could contend with them in terms of power.

But even with the House of Sol into the equation, it was still a far cry from being able to outmatch Blue Rose's 3rd squad. The rumors surrounding them were that outrageous.

"So, what will you do?"

The woman talked once again. Judging by her tone, the moment Deimos gave her refusal, her life was forfeit. She could already feel their energy gathering around them.

'They aren't Magi, they're only Casters but… what is this difference in power?!'

There will always be disparity even among peers of the same rank. The house heads are at a minimum, Casters. But, among the previous four house heads, Jonathan was stronger than Markus. It was just a matter of experience and accumulated power.

If Markus could be likened to a bull, Jonathan was like a stampede.

However, the disparity wasn't that large. But if Deimos were to compare herself to the three surrounding her, she was like a toddler facing an experienced fighter.

"...I won't interfere any longer."

Deimos' energy slowly began to recede into her body. The three members of Blue Rose all waited until she was completely defenseless before leaving.

Once they were out of sight, Deimos' legs gave out and her breathing turned erratic.

She felt like she had been through a great battle and finally felt relief. The fatigue she experienced was no joke and if this alley were a safe place, she'd have slept on the ground without any qualms.

"I must… tell the mistress…"

Deimos stood up and forced herself to walk.

"So, what do ya say?"

Sebastian narrowed his eyes at the man in front of him. He was currently surrounded by around ten men, they all looked like the average thug.

'I guess they're part of the 'stupid' that Liz told me about.'

Rex had a lot of influence inside the prison, so much that not even the guards dared to cause trouble with him and his crew. Sebastian found out about this once he got back from talking with the old man.

Looking at the people around him, they didn't look strong. Inheritors, even when limited by energy like them now, still had a special atmosphere around them compared to normal people. It didn't matter if they were weak or strong, everyone had it.

But, if one was strong, then that special atmosphere is even more apparent. Rex, for example, although Sebastian didn't have the ability to sense energy that well currently, he took one look at Rex and roughly already knew his power.

A weak Inheritor could potentially hide among the weak, but a strong one is like trying to hide a lion in a flock of sheep. It was inevitable for those looking to see. The men in front of him were in the truest sense, 'weak'.

"Bastard, are you even listening?"

The man in front of Sebastian growled.

"Ah, no. What did you want again?"

Sebastian had already heard them the first time but why would he give them the time of day? It was better to waste their time as much as possible.

"I said, word's been goin' around that you're carryin' a knife from the guards."

"I guess that is true, yes."

"Then, hand it over and you won't get hurt."

"..."

Sebastian looked at the man in front of him like he was a fool.

"What are ya looking at me like that for, huh?!"

The man tried to intimidate Sebastian but seeing as how it wasn't working, he swung his fist. Sebastian moved his head to the left, barely dodging the fist and then hit the man square in the chest.

"Kahak—!"

The man fell to his knees and clutched his chest.

"Get 'im!"

The other men who were gathering around him began to charge at him. Sebastian calmly looked at the nearest person, dodged the incoming fist by twisting his body, then hit him in the face with the back of his hand.

Sebastian was strong. Far stronger than the average adult. Just the back of his hand managed to send the man down on the floor.

Seeing that, two of the men made a joint attack and were preparing to tackle him instead. Sebastian, with his legs still tied by chains, jumped on the shoulders of one of the men, then shoved his elbow onto the man's head.

Once he was disoriented, Sebastian moved like a snake and twisted his legs and sent the man crashing into the second one. It wasn't enough to knock them out, but it was enough to take them out of the fight for a few seconds.

After landing on the ground, someone managed to hold him from behind and another punched his face. Sebastian spat out some saliva onto the man's face after getting hit and then slammed his head onto the man to his back.

The other man, still blinded by his saliva, was an easy target. Sebastian leaped and kicked the man with both of his legs in the stomach hard enough to make him groan on the floor.

With that, two of them were out of commission. The others who were hit were still getting back up.

Eight of them were left, but Sebastian looked at the scene of them all approaching calmly. The punch that landed on his cheek didn't even sting.

Sebastian took a deep breath and raised his fists beside his eyes and his arms close to his body. He began bouncing to keep his blood pumping and charged forward. He didn't wait to be encircled by the incoming enemies.

He arrived in front of the nearest man and after dodging the fist by crouching, landed a flurry of punches at the man's stomach and then finally, a hit to under his chin. He crouched once more to dodge another incoming attack and landed two solid hits to the man's head before ending it with a punch at the man's face.

Four more.

Two of the remaining four were holding shanks made from rocks and cloth. Sebastian didn't have the dagger on his person but it wasn't a problem. He tackled a man to the ground, stood up, and then charged the next man with his shoulder.

With the two who weren't holding weapons down and the next man using a shank running at him, Sebastian moved quickly. He watched as the shank neared his body before holding the man's hand, hitting his joint above the elbow, and then stabbing the shank into his body.

"AAGH!"

Sebastian dodged the next man's shank by a narrow margin but someone grabbed his leg and allowed the man another attack. Sebastian kicked the man's hand who grabbed his leg and managed to get free but the shank had already hit him in the chest. It was just a minor cut, but it did hit him.

The man who was stabbed was panicking and trying his best to stop the blood but Sebastian purposefully stabbed somewhere he wouldn't die.

He looked at the remaining three who managed to gather themselves. The one holding a shank was the first man that Sebastian had attacked.

Seeing that only three of them were left, they felt fear. They began looking for escape routes but would Sebastian let them?

It only took him an instant. He charged at them, stopped their joint attack, and turned their own attacks against the other. The two men ended up being sent flying with his strength and the remaining man holding a shank was left bloodied on the floor. His face was beaten up so much that even his own mother wouldn't recognize him at the moment.

Sebastian stood up and began wiping the blood of his fists. He looked to one direction and saw three prisoners looking at him like they were looking at a monster.

In all fairness, Sebastian at that moment truly looked like a monster. There were ten bodies scattered around him, blood was splattered all over the ground and walls, and the man responsible for it was nonchalantly standing in the middle covered in blood, trying to wipe his hands clean.

Sebastian took a step in the prisoners' directions and they began running. He took one last glance at the ten men who were beaten down by him before leaving.
