"Say, how do we divide the spoil?" Daniel squatted beside the corpses of the wolves with a dangerous gleam on his eyes. Then he looked at Barseagle.
Liz crossed her arm. "It should be depending on the contribution. However, captain did most of the work. We would have died if not for his assistance."
"Not me..." Ian gave out a smile. "Every head of lesser werewolf is worth 100 contribution points, right? Then, I'll take this one since it was my solo kill."
Ian went to the severed head of the werewolf he killed. He picked it up and threw it to the Barseagle. "Record this for me."
Barseagle caught the head in the air without batting an eye and nodded with a smile. "Sincr you've killed it without my help. It is only natural to get this spoil. You can also take its blood and do what you want to the body as you see fit. There's no doubt that you can make clothes out of the body of werewolves. Their bones are also good materials for crafting bow and arrows."
Then Barseagle turned his head at the three. Daniel looks uncomfortable at the thought that he won't get contribution points. But he also understood that he failed the test. It is already good if he doesn't get kick out of the team. What's more, earn contribution points? That's even more unlike.
'I still want to stay to this team and climb the ladder in the army. I should just make myself look obedient.' With that, Daniel pushed the thought of contribution points out of his mind.
Kate and Liz looked at their captain, waiting for his decision.
"The contribution points can't be credited to you three given your poor performance this time. To be honest, I can't expect newcomers like you to defeat 8 feet werewolves. The disparity of strength and speed is just there. No doubt about it." Barseagle's expression turned to difficult to read. "The problem is... Ian managed to do it. And he is the same lesser vampires like you."
"But captain, Ian has awakened weird bone claws. It's not fair to compare him to us." With a pout, Daniel couldn't help but complain.
"Yes, Ian's bone claws is an unknown variable in the battle which why he managed to take down his opponent." Kate looked concern. She believed that if the werewolf knew Ian's boneclaws beforehand. The outcome of the battle would be different.
Liz patted Kate shoulder and shook her head at her. "There's no excuses. Ian was smart enough to not reveal his bone claws at the start. Credit should be given where it's due."
Even though he was part of the topic. Ian didn't even join the conversation. For he jnew that the less he talk, the less he needs to explain regarding his secrets. For now, he just let them say whatever they want to say as long as they don't ask him about his bone claws.
"Don't worry I didn't say that I would remove you guys from the team." Barseagle chuckled as he could read the worries of the three. "You just won't get contribution points at most. But I'm not stingy, you guys can drink the blood of the werewolves I killed for yourself."
Daniel, Kate, and Liz tense shoulder visibly relaxed as they heard that they could still stay on the team.
"Great!" Daniel cheered up, then he crouched, bit the chest of the corpse and began to suck its blood dry.
Ian watched with interest. The way of blood cultivation is like this. Suck the blood of creatures, refine the blood using the blood core in the body. This will increase the volume of blood which would increase the chances of being able to purifying the blood to ascend to higher life level.
Unfortunately, according to his memories, the original lacks blood core. This cut off his path of blood cultivation and removed the possibility to purify his blood. Even becoming a true vampire, what's more, a higher vampire is almost impossible in this life.
Ian felt unlucky to be transmigrated to such body. However, having a blood core actually depends on luck and genetics in the first place. Almost 40% of vampire race doesn't have blood core. He's not alone.
Fortunately, he had his golden finger with him or he would have already despaired. The strongest body customization system is his reliance to reach the peak of this world. Fate had closed a door to him but also opened a window.
Just like that, Liz and Kate did the same as Daniel. They drank the blood of dead werewolves in few gulps. As they did so, the injuries in their body that was already recovering rapidly became even more faster. Their pale countenance vaguely revealed a trace of energy. Their faces were filled with euphoria.
This was the process of blood cultivation. Drink blood to increase blood volume, thus, get replenish blood and energy. Once the blood volume reach a certain level, undergo blood saturation, purify and ascend to the next level. In the case of the three, jump from lesser vampire to true vampire!
Of course, Kate, Liz, and Daniel's blood volume was currently far from reaching saturation.
"Why don't you drink blood?" Barseagle looked at Ian. "You should replenish your energy. Our mission isn't over yet."
'Why should I? I don't have a blood core...' Ian secretly thought. However, he can't actually say this.
After all, without a blood core. How did he manage to awaken a blood ability "Bone Claws?"
He won't be able to explain. Now, he could only continue the misunderstanding and pretend that he had blood core. Not to mention, it's not impossible to customize an even better artificial blood core with his system in the future, right? As long as there's enough biomass, it might be feasible!
So, under captain Barseagle's gaze, Ian squatted to the body with a grin on his face. "I like flesh more than blood." Anyway, he needs to eat flesh for biomass.
'This kid still has such hobby.' Barseagle watched as Ian feasted upon the body of the werewolf.
Ian bit the raw flesh, chumped the hard bones with his sharp teeth, and drank the blood. Initially, he inwardly felt disgusted. However, he discovered that he seems to enjoy the feeling of eating flesh? Doe he actually has such a weird hobby? Or is it a side effect of being a vampire? Or maybe due to the existence of the system?
Ian didn't have time to think too much. He devoured every pieces of the corpse from bones, muscle, organs, blood, etc...
It was a bloody gore scene that made even Barseagle and other a bit uncomfortable. Although eating flesh isn't that unusual in the Curtained Imperium. Most vampires only opted for blood.
DING!
