章 2: Chapter Two:

Hudson:

Watching her eat a piece of cheese, my mind wandered over to the fact that she was my mate. If I am always being honest, I always loved her. She stuck by my side no matter what, and that is why I chose her to be my secretary. Also it was to keep her within my grasp. The day our parents died, she held me tightly. Guilt ate at me, the fact was that I should have been the one holding her. Damn blood suckers, I thought to myself. No matter how cold I was to her, she was warmer. She had the ability to talk anyone down before they entered my office. As far as I knew, everyone cherished her. Grayson liked her a bit too much, and when I saw him hanging all over her I knew I had to make my move. If I didn't do anything, he would swoop her out from underneath my feet. Smiling to myself, the sex we just had was amazing. Dazed as hell, the wolf in me howled as her hand touched mine.

"Are you okay, my alpha?" She inquired sweetly, sitting down on my lap. "I am so happy that I am yours." Yawning, she rested her head on my chest. My lips parted to speak, cute snores told me that she was sleeping. Carrying her, the thought of her taking me home after my attack made me cringe. If the daze of her becoming my mate wasn't distracting me, then I would have sensed that vampire. Watching her tear apart my attacker turned me on, her white fur staining red.

"I made your bed." Latia announced playfully, holding the bloody sheets. "You two must have had fun. I am just warning you with all seriousness. The other female wolves will want to kill her, they have all had a major crush on you. Also the vampire leader is on the other line, and he doesn't sound too pleased." Snatching my cell phone from her, a worn icy tone sent chills up my spine.

"I thought we wouldn't kill each other anymore." Theros shouted furiously into his end, vampires wailing behind him. "How dare you let your Luna do that?" My eyebrow twitched, a snarl curling on my lips.

"Maybe you shouldn't send someone to kill me!" I snarled tiredly, her body resting against my chest. "Then she wouldn't have had to protect me." A confused huh echoed on his side of the phone, someone whispering something to him. Clearing his throat, his tone softened.

"I am sorry about my rogue subject." He apologized sarcastically, not the best apology in my honest opinion. "Next time think before you kill." Click, his end went silent. She stirred in my arms, Latia shifted uncomfortably behind me.

"Do you want me to prepare the Luna ceremony for this weekend?" She offered politely, putting the sheets on the counter. "Grayson rejected me today." Her face fell, tears welling up in her eyes. Sitting across from me, she buried her head in her palms. Rage boiled in my veins, Evie stirred in my arms. Her fingers gripped my shirt, Latia sobbing violently.

"Do you want me to do anything about it?" I offered through gritted teeth, her head shaking. "You didn't accept it did you?" Clenching the sheets tightly, she shook her head no. Of course she denied him his rejection.

"I don't want you to do anything about it." She expressed numbly, walking away. "Just enjoy her and protect her, 'kay. She is my friend, you know." Carrying her to bed, she snuggled against my chest. The sweet smell of honeysuckle wafted up my nose, my mind racing away. Yawning, exhaustion won me over.

My eyes fluttered open, and she wasn't next to me. Throwing on my usual outfit of a black t-shirt and black jeans, I rushed downstairs. She was holding a sobbing Latia, bacon sizzling on the stove. Sliding her a cinnamon roll, Latia cheered up a bit. A soft blush rose to my cheeks, her red plaid shirt dress hugged her hourglass figure. Smiling lovingly at me, a bunch of paperwork sat in front of her.

"Good morning, Alpha." She mused playfully, sliding me a plate of eggs and bacon. "I did my work for the morning, and I have to run some errands." She skipped out of the house, hopping into her car. Something was wrong, anger running wild in her head. The tires screamed as she drove onto the dirt road in the direction of Grayson's house, panic gripping my mind. Running into the garage, my trembling hands shoved my black helmet over my head. Kicking the kickstand up, my all black motorcycle roared to life. How could she be so stupid! Dirt flew around me, the air rushing around me. Cold sweat dripped off of my brow, her car was parked outside of his one bedroom trailer. My cock grew hard as her foot kicked the door down, Grayson slammed into her. Her foot slammed into his stomach, a tree falling on his head.

"How dare you try to reject her, you fucking freak! You hurt my friend, so I am going to hurt you." She threatened powerfully, grabbing him by his throat. "You will try to like her, and at least give her a damn chance. I am Alpha Hudson's mate. Get over it." She dropped him to the ground, her long hair swaying in the breeze. Claws grew from his hands, choosing to swipe at her ankle. Noticing his attack, she grabbed his arm. Getting down to his level, the crack of his bone snapping in half echoed in the morning air. An ivory tip stuck out of his arm, my inner wolf howling for her.

"I don't love her." He declared desperately, reaching for her with her other hand. "I love you, and did when we dated." Her fists clenched tightly, blood dripping onto the ground. Shaking her head, she stood up. Fresh tears streamed down her cheeks, a broken smile shattering my heart.

"You broke up with me, remember?" She snapped icily, trying to fight the tears. "You left me the day my parents died, and told me that you couldn't handle the baggage. So fuck you! Treat her well or I will kill you if she gets hurt more." She was trying to unlock her car, Grayson towered over her. A silver blade shimmered in his hand, her foot knocking it out of his hand.

"Your parents were right about you." He taunted cruelly, his gray eyes darkening. "They were right to call you a loser, and a failure all of the time. They paired me with you to improve yourself, and learn obedience like the good dog you should be." Enough was enough, her body collapsing to her knees. Parking the bike, she looked relieved as I rushed to her side.

"You don't deserve my sister." I barked bitterly, scooping her up. "And you managed to break Evie again. Great job man." Tears streamed down her cheeks, her finger gripping my sleeve. She never told me about her home life, guilt eating me raw. Everyday she bounded by my side with the warmest smile.

"Well, I don't want her." He grumbled rudely, smashing her car up. Glass shattered everywhere, her trembling body leaping out of my arms. Calmly she cleared up her car, the damn thing totaled from his unnecessary attack.

"I hate him." She whispered darkly, melting into my arms. "I am so sorry for being a burden." Wandering back to the day he broke up with her, she just lay in her room for weeks not even coming out to eat. Not knowing what to do, I just waited outside her door day and night. Kissing her forehead, she held my waist as we rode back. Saying nothing she went straight up to the office, Latia was working at the deli. Sitting at the desk, my wolf felt sad for her. Burying her head into her arms, the mental bruises began to show. I took a couple of steps to talk to her, Latia bursting into the room with a huge grin plastered on her face.

"Everything is ready for this weekend." She announced cheerfully, her face falling at the sight of Evie. "Is she okay?" Before I could answer, Evie popped her head up. Shooting Latia the fake smile that always fooled me, she looked away sheepishly. Her exterior said that she was okay, but the way her fingers played with the hem of her dress told me otherwise. Come to think of it, she did that all of the time.

"I am perfectly fine." She chirped cheerfully, her sudden change alarming. "Thank you for getting everything ready." Sadness glinted in her eyes, my heart shattering. Latia stayed for a while, not knowing what just happened. Latia skipped off, a tired expression flashing on Evie's face.

"You are not okay." I uttered in disbelief, locking the door behind Latia. "You don't have to hide anything from me. You can talk to me if you need to." Cocking her head, her lips parted to speak.

"I didn't want anyone to know." She explained weakly, her fingers trembling. "Everyday they insulted me from the moment I woke up to the time I went to bed. I made sure to hide it, so no one had to worry about me. Don't worry about me, 'kay." Smiling sadly, I picked up my bike keys. Unlocking the door, my beta James stopped me. His blonde hair was slicked back, his blue eyes twinkling. Dusting off his black business suit, his eyes fell on the broken Evelyn.

"Taking her somewhere?" He inquired curiously, holding a pile of files in his hands. "Go on. I can handle your load for a day. She looks like she needs it. I haven't seen her this broken since that day." Thanking him silently, my hand hovered in front of her face. Surprise widened her eyes. She wasn't going to hide away this time, not under my watch.

"Let's take off for the day." I blurted out anxiously, her hand taking mine. "I want to show you something."
