After Makayla overheard the conversation between the people she lived with for over her whole life and called her parents she knew she had overstayed her welcome and did what everyone else in her position would do. She ran away.
Makayla thought she was coming home to meet worried family members and was thinking of what to tell them but she was just overreacting and too expectant from people who had never cared for her like parents should.
Makayla cried so bitterly and was utterly confused because she didn't have a place to stay and was aimless. She did even start thinking about where to stay and was just walking down the road till something unexpected happened.
"Such a pretty girl. Where are you going" said a man. "Do you want to join us for the night pretty girl" said another man. Makayla knew they were not good people and started walking very fast but the men noticed it and started walking behind her. She noticed it and increased her speed but the men weren't giving up and was still on her heels.
So she started running but she couldn't outrun them so they caught her eventually. "So you were trying to run away from us" said one man why the other man was holding her with a very tight grip. "Let go of meeeee !! I want to go home please" Makayla said while sobbing. She was thinking of the so many things that can happen at that moment and was praying that someone would help her. "We don't bite baby" one of the man said. Makayla was trying to get out of their grip but to no avail so she continued shouting and screaming for help. " there's no need for your shouts, no one's gonna hear you it's already late" and both men started laughing.
At that moment a man who was passing by heard her cries and decided to trace it. When he did he was surprised with the scene before him. He saw a girl held hostage by some goons and he immediately went toward, beat them up and chased them away. He helped her up and helped her out of the alley. "Do you know your way from here of u need my assistance" the man asked. " No thank you sir, you have already done enough for me" Makayla said gratefully.
And they both went their separate ways. While Makayla was walking aimlessly she thought to herself saying" my journey of survival has begun and I will be a very strong opponent because I'm not going to give up".
The more Makayla walked the more the environment started looking familiar. She was still doubtful but she still continued walking and before she knew it she recognized a familiar building.
"Mom!! Dad!! Makayla is here" Richard was outside the house playing was the first to see her and immediately started calling his parents to come out.
Richard's parents wasted no time and immediately ran outside to grab Makayla in so she couldn't escape in order for them to execute their plans.
" where have you been mama, we have been looking everywhere for you" said Richard's mother who hates her the most in the house and the most cunning in the family. "Where you lost" Richard's father chimed in as soon as his wife finished talking. " yes" answered Makayla who was firstly shocked because she has never been called by a pet name in the house before and secondly she couldn't tell them what really happened and the fact that she overheard their conversation earlier that day.
Mr and mrs Shane did not let Makayla out of their sight for even a bit. Makayla was not too suspicious because the time they said had passed unknowingly to her the dealers planned changed due to a bad car so the time was apparently rescheduled. So when the time was around 10:30pm. Mrs Shane told Makayla to fill her to get something at a shop. Makayla found it weird for she would have just told her to get it like she always does but there's no much enlightenment one could get at that young age. So she agreed to go with her.
On their way, Makayla felt shivers all over her body and the atmosphere started getting creepy and then she suspected something was amiss but before she realized it her nose was covered with a handkerchief and as soon as she inhaled the chemical on it so lost consciousness.
Meanwhile Mrs Shane who was getting excited that her plans were working quickly called Mr Shane and he came out from a nearby bush. Seems he had been trailing them all along. They both carried an unconscious Makayla into a small truck and started taking her to the location they agreed with the dealer. When they got there they discussed the amount and was able to sell her off for $300. Mr and mrs Shane was so happy that they got rid of Makayla and for a good sum of money and with that they went home to their beloved son Richard. And since then they never heard of Makayla again. They were not worried about being caught for selling a child who is not even up to 18 yet and without her consent.
But where they even wrong when she was not even their biological child and they were forced to care for her since she was a baby, took her to school at least and gave her a place to stay...
