章 19: BULLSEYE!!!
The sun had reached its zenith as Guru Drona led the students to the weaponry training grounds. The area was vast, filled with various types of magical weaponry, but today, the focus was on archery. A distant tree stood at the edge of the training field, an archery target barely visible on its trunk.
"This," Guru Drona began, pointing to the distant target, "is your challenge for today. The arrows you have are magically enhanced to ensure they reach the target. Your task is to hit the red center of the target. First up, Duryodhana."
Duryodhana stepped forward, confidently gripping his bow. Guru Drona asked, "What do you see?"
Duryodhana squinted at the distant tree. "I can see the tree," he said, pulling back the string and releasing the arrow. It soared through the air and landed at the bottom of the tree, far from the target.
"Next, Yudhisthir," Guru Drona called. Yudhisthir took his position and aimed his arrow.
"What do you see?" Guru Drona repeated.
"I see the target, but not the red mark in the center," Yudhisthir replied. His arrow landed on the periphery of the target.
One by one, students took their turns. Some hit the tree, some hit the target, but none managed to hit the red center. Finally, it was Arjun's turn.
Arjun stepped forward, his eyes full of determination. "What do you see?" Guru Drona asked.
Arjun focused intensely on the target. "I see nothing else but the red center of the target," he replied confidently.
"Then fire the arrow, lad," Guru Drona instructed.
Arjun pulled back his bow, his entire being concentrated on the red center. With a swift motion, he released the arrow. It sliced through the air with a swoosh and struck the target dead center, hitting the bullseye.
The students erupted in applause, and for the first time, Arjun saw Guru Drona smile. "Well done, Arjun," he said, nodding appreciatively. The class was dismissed for the day, and as the students gathered their things, Arjun heard whispers around him.
"Wow, he is so handsome," a group of girls whispered, stealing glances at him.
"That outsider must be taught a lesson," Duryodhana muttered to his group, glaring at Arjun.
With the training over for the day, the students headed to their hostel. The hostel was a wondrous, magical building, seemingly alive with enchantments. The walls were adorned with ever-changing murals depicting legendary battles and mythical creatures. The corridors were lined with floating lanterns that lit up as students walked by, and the common rooms were filled with cozy chairs that adjusted to each student's preference.
Arjun found his room and was pleased to see it was spacious and comfortable. The bed was draped with soft, enchanted sheets that promised a good night's sleep, and the window offered a breathtaking view of the surrounding magical forest. After settling in, he joined his friends for dinner in the grand dining hall.
The dining hall was a marvel in itself. The ceiling was enchanted to show a starry night sky, complete with shooting stars and constellations that moved slowly across the expanse. Long tables were laden with delicious food, much of it familiar but with a magical twist. Plates refilled themselves, and goblets were never empty.
After a satisfying meal, Arjun, Krishna, Bheem, Nakul, Sahdev, and Yudhisthir sat in one of the common rooms, discussing the day's events. They laughed and shared their experiences, the camaraderie among them growing stronger.
Suddenly, an owl swooped into the room and dropped a letter into Krishna's hand. The owl was majestic, with feathers that shimmered in the light, and it vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
Krishna unfolded the letter, his eyes scanning the contents.
