 "Don't be stupid, Elsie," Jace snapped back.

 "I'll consider who I want to kill first." The blade was kept away by Nixie. The mad woman folded her knife back, then tucked it behind her waist. "Enjoy your last day." With a hyperbolic motion, he gave a distant kiss, then waddled like a photomodel out of this room.

 "Shit," Jace snorted as he jerked his head, looking at me intensely. His shoulders were heaving, a sign that he was catching his breath. "You should get out of here, Elsie."

 I shook my head, biting my lower lip. "How could I leave you!"

 "I can handle them."

 "And I'd leave you to them so easily like a lump of bait? Not!" I acted stubbornly, shaking my head, rejecting his decision. Besides, how am I supposed to get out of here? Is he starting to lose his logical mind??
