章 16: Sandbar

February 5, 1941

General Barredo went back to Zarasai. He didn't say why he's going but Jane told us that our 'CO' called for him. Oh boy... I can't wait to hear the next condescending order from that politician…

"Ah finally!" Romel said as General Barredo enters the mayor's office

"General Barredo, reporting!" he said saluting

"Yes. Yes. At ease. Now sit down so I can begin briefing you"

"So what's the next move, Mr. Johnson?"

"That's commander to you, general. I thought you military folk were trained to respect the chain of command. Regardless, I would like to commend you and your men for accomplishing your last mission despite that minor setback"

"I appreciate the compliment but who were those Imperials? I don't believe regular frontline infantry can pull off the kind of stunt they did"

"They are Imperial Special Forces. That is all you need to know, general"

"No shit they're specialized troops! I want to know who they are and how they operate"

"We are not entirely sure. Based on the insignia on their uniforms, however, we believe these men are Ausbruch"

"Ausbruch?"

"They never participated in the Gallian invasion, general. They were an Imperial tank division and a major threat 5 years ago. They caused many setbacks on Operation Northern Cross"

"I heard about Operation Northern Cross… It was supposed to be a diversion while Operation Cygnus was the real offensive"

"Not entirely true. That was what happened after Ausbruch destroyed all hope for Operation Northern Cross to succeed in its original objective. So the roles of both operations were switched"

"So Federation propaganda made a few modifications to the actual story… Why am I not surprised?"

"Regardless, we are veering off-topic. Let us return to discussing your next mission which is in Bergano. Your objective is to take an Imperial Port near the city in order for the navy to have a foothold on the Adriatic Sea"

"That's at the border between the Empire and Zwolle"

"That is correct"

"Why there? Zwolle is neutral in this conflict. What are you planning? The countries around the Adriatic have been neutral since 1935. Nobody will like the idea of Federation troops blockading a neutral part of Europa besides, do we even have permission to position our troops dangerously close to their territories?"

"Those countries are not neutral anymore, general. The Empire made sure of that"

"Think this through! Even if the political backlash of deploying troops in neutral countries doesn't exist, the Empire won't just let us have our way! Mark my words! They will retaliate either by invading the neutral countries or doing some other sneaky tactic!"

"General. You know nothing of the placement of all the pieces in this chessboard hence I suggest you simply listen to my orders"

"Chessboard?! This is more than just moving board game pieces! This is entirely different from your 'broad' view! This is too ambitious!"

"Operation Cygnus and Operation Northern Cross were considered to be too ambitious as well. Focusing on advancing troops rather than consolidating control of conquered territories, many in parliament, alone, called it a flawed plan but look at what happened! I will do the planning, general. You will act and follow my orders. Simple and clean. You are in no position to question my authority. Am I clear?"

General Barredo grunts. "… Fine"

"That is not the proper response, general"

"… Yes sir…"

"Good. To continue, the port is built on an island off the coast. Therefore, your men must capture the nearby hotel in order to properly advance into the port. You will have air and naval support throughout the operation"

"So how do we reach the port?"

"Reconnaissance photos shows a sandbar that your men can use however, it is only available during low tide"

"At least it's better than using landing crafts… What time does the low tide set in and for how long?"

"From what intel we could gather, low tide begins at 7am and ends at around 9am. Your men have a two hour window, at best, to cross the sandbar"

"Two hours… Crossing that sandbar won't be easy…"

"I don't care how you do it. I just want that port taken. Now, off with you! We have limited time"

"Understood"

February 7, 1941

Nothing to do today, again. I decided to get some sunlight and out of that stuffy barracks. After grabbing some food at the mess hall, I've heard a commission nearby. Curious, I approached the crowd. I see this private handing out newspapers to everyone. Huh… Been a while since I've read a newspaper.

Seems to be mostly good news in the paper… According to these journalists, all the major frontlines managed to make significant gains in the last month.

The 69th in the south managed to enter the town of Lecca, the 97th have begun their siege of Mozd, and the 101st reach the desert city of Al-Abwa in what used to be Fhirald territory. There was even a column about the last engagement we were in; 'Federation forces capture Herford'.

But what intrigued me was the recent developments in the other neutral countries south of Empire. Hazerbrouck, Terneuzen, and Meppel were invaded and all fell just a week ago… I didn't know that the Empire was also invading these countries while keeping the Federation at bay… Meanwhile, Derft, Ostende, and Arras suddenly announced their support of the Empire just the other day… Looks like this war's gonna last a little longer…

A lot is happening right now and I must say that I was quite engrossed at reading the newspaper. I guess with all the stress in the battlefield, reading feels like one of those small comforts that I've taken for granted throughout peacetime.

"Denzel" someone said tapping my back

"Huh?! What?!" I responded jolting "Edna?"

"Sorry. I didn't notice you were so absorbed into reading"

"I-It's no big deal. What's going on?"

"General Barredo is back. We're needed at the War Tent"

"Ok. I'll be right there"

"Ah Denzel" the general said as I enter the tent "That's everyone. Now we can begin the briefing"

"So where will our Edinburgh overlords send us to next?" Desmond said with a sarcastic tone

"Bergano. We're tasked with capturing a port there"

"Bergano? Isn't that down south? Why are we being sent? Can't they send the other, much closer, Federation units there?"

"Don't ask me about those details… Romel is planning something but he refuses to tell me"

"But why there?" Franko asked "The port is a good asset but that area of Europa is supposed to be a neutral zone. We'll be breaking international law if we make any mistake there"

"I know that… I tried to warn Romel but he wouldn't listen to me"

"So we're just going to follow orders?" Aria said sarcastically

"You have a better idea?" Edna responded

"How about we don't act like mindless puppets of this politician?"

"Why am I not surprised that you, of all people, would suggest risking another court martial to-"

"HEY!" General Barredo shouted "I'm the one giving the briefing. If you don't have anything useful to add or ask then shut your fucking traps!"

"What's the plan, general?" Jane asked

The general clears his throat. "The port is built on an island off the coast and only way through is by crossing a sandbar during low tide"

"A sandbar?" Sonia said "That'll leave us open to enemy fire"

"Yes I know. But it's hell of a lot safer than using landing craft to land ashore. Anyhow, before we can even think of walking on that sandbar, we have to take control of a nearby hotel first. Expect close quarters combat so keep your guard up"

"Do we have support?" I asked

"We have the naval and air support. They'll keep the port's artillery and whatever Imperial ships at bay while we advance"

"What of the hotel?" Rain asked

The general brings out a sketch of the hotel's floorplan. "The bulk of the army will secure the perimeter around the hotel. The building is 5 stories tall. After we take the lobby, we'll divide the units into several squads to simultaneously secure all the rooms. 4 squads will each take the basement, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors while our squad will be divided to secure the 4th and 5th floors. There are 2 staircases on opposite ends of every floor, these are the only ways to get down without jumping out the window. We'll utilize a pincer maneuver and trap the remaining Imperials. Though the 5th floor is a bit of a different story since there's only one way up and down from there so expect the Imperials to be much more entrenched on that floor"

"What time is the operation?" Aster asked

"We attack on the day after tomorrow at 2am"

"2am? That's pretty late"

"I know. But it's the only way for us to capture the hotel before the low tide sets in"

"What time does the low tide set in?"

"Estimate around 7am but we have no idea how long it'll last so we have to move quickly. When the hotel falls, all units are to immediately regroup at the lobby to begin crossing the sandbar. Our tanks can't float on water afterall…"

"So no rest until that port's ours?"

"Yes. So you have today to rest up. We march to Lecca at 8am tomorrow. Understood?"

"Yes sir" everyone replied

"Good. Now go get some rest"

February 11, 1941

We arrived at Bergano at around 2pm. The 69th managed to take the town just yesterday so that saves us the trouble of taking the town before the port. This works well for us since that road trip wasn't exactly relaxing…

At around midnight, we left town for the port. Compared to the other roads in Imperial territory, this one is much darker than usual and with the moon being covered by the clouds, our only source of light were the flashlights from a few scouts. We couldn't risk getting spotted so we had to cross through a dark road with only the flashlights of a couple of scouts to guide us along the way. It took about an hour and a half but we managed to get into position without being detected. The general ordered the tanks to stay behind us as we position ourselves by a park.

"Denzel, radio" General Barredo whispered as I hand him my radio "Red 1, this is Squad D, do you copy?"

"This is Red 1" Sora replied "I read you loud and clear"

"We're in position. Waiting on your go"

"Copy. Standby for bombing run"

As the general returns my radio, we all crouch and clench our guns, ready to dash towards the hotel. My heart started racing as I gripped my rifle tightly. I did the breathe in, breathe out exercise Jane taught me the other day but I could still feel my anxiety creeping its way into my heart.

After about 5 minutes, I could hear the faint sound of plane engines in the distance and it took less than a minute for me to spot their silhouettes in the sky as they break through the clouds and drop their bombs around the building.

"That's our window!" General Barredo shouted, standing up "GO! GO! GO!"

The tanks' lights spring to life as all of us charge towards the hotel. The bombing disoriented most of our enemies but a couple of them managed to man the machineguns.

Their suppressive fire caused all of us to go prone and allow the tanks to move ahead of us.

"Use the tanks as cover!" General Barredo commanded as me, Isaac, Renee, and Drifa hide behind Marian's tank

The tanks open fire, destroying some of the hotel's walls.

"LANCERS!" Roswell shouted as 2 of our tanks are destroyed

The explosions sent a couple of our men flying. I can see that some of them are still alive, shouting "MEDIC!" while writhing in pain.

"Denzel! Duval! Kutner!" General Barredo shouted "Press the attack!"

I heard the general but it didn't process in my mind as an order… I was so focused on those men who were lying on the open road shouting for someone to help them. My breathing became heavy and sporadic and I began to have tunnel vision.

Without thinking, I slinged my rifle and ran towards one of the wounded. I quickly grabbed his uniform and began to drag him behind Marian's tank. With shots flying around me, I drew my M1911 but continued to drag the wounded man with one arm.

After pulling the man the safety, I began to apply pressure on his wound as I shout for a medic.

"Morphine…!" the soldiers said grabbing my arm "I need morphine, man!"

I was panicking a bit but after patting my pockets a few times, I managed to grab the syringe.

"You're going to be alright!" I said applying the morphine "I need a medic!"

After calling for a medic for god knows how many times, one finally arrived and relieved me but there were still more downed soldiers over there, still alive and in a lot of pain, but before I could rush in to rescue them, General Barredo grabbed my shoulder.

"Goddamn it, Denzel!" he shouted

"But sir!" I replied

"What did I tell you before?!"

"Sir! With all due respect-"

"That's enough lip from you! YOU WILL FOLLOW ORDERS! AM I CLEAR?!"

"Y-Yes sir…"

"Good! Castder, Jane, Doss! You take care of those men!"

At least the general still valued their lives… With the others taking care of the wounded, I finally managed to get it together and continue the mission.

I regrouped with Roswell, Aria, Rain, Desmond, and Franko by a hole in the wall at the side of the hotel.

"They got MGs stationed by the check-in counters!" Franko said "Roswell, Pop smoke! Aria, Denzel, you go with Roswell and clear the first floor! Desmond, Rain! You're coming with me to the 2nd floor!"

Roswell throws a smoke grenade and, within minutes, envelopes the 1st floor lobby with a thick blanket of smoke. We wasted no time in rushing towards the smoke. The Imperials were somewhat disoriented, I could hear them coughing. That made it easier for us to gun them down through the smoke.

Taking the lobby was the easiest part. We managed to secure it in less than 5 minutes though the fighting is far from over as the area around the hotel and the hotel's upper floors aren't clear yet. We regrouped at the lobby to catch a bit of breath as the other soldiers run up the two staircases to the upper floors.

"Good work" General Barredo said "Claes, Castder, Sonia, Jane, Crocker, and Arnaud. You'll clear the 4th floor! Franko, Duval, Martens, Denzel, and Rain! You will clear the 5th floor! The rest of the squad will support the other units in clearing the surrounding area! Am I clear?"

"Yes sir" we responded

"Then let's get to it, people!"

5th floor

Running up the stairs was easier said than done. We had to be careful when making the transition per floor as we'll be exposed for a second from the hallway as we go from staircase to staircase. Luckily, we managed to reach the 5th floor hallway without any casualties.

As we set foot on the 5th floor, the Imperials were ready with a makeshift machinegun nest at the hallway. Me and Aster quickly jumped into a corner while the others took cover downstairs as the enemy machinegun lays down heavy fire down the hallway.

Aster went against the wall and tried to return fire but a bullet grazes his left arm. It was too risky to even break cover and the machinegun is too far for a grenade to reach…

"Aster!" I said as Aster covers his wound using a handkerchief with the Empire's emblem "You ok?"

"I'm good" he replied "Fuckers got this place locked down alright"

"No kidding…"

"Grenades aren't gonna do, are they?"

"I don't think so… The enemy seems too far down the hall…"

I stopped for a moment as I heard the sound of plane engines outside. A crazy idea just flew through my mind. I quickly grabbed my radio.

"Red 1. Red 1" I said "This is Squad D, do you copy?"

"This is Red 1" Sora replied "What's up? Is the hotel ours?"

"Not yet. Listen. I need you drop a bomb on the hotel's top floor, the part closest to the beach!"

"Sorry. No can do. Our payload is too strong. We'll cause more damage on our side than theirs…"

"Shit! But can your machineguns do the trick?"

"What are you trying to do?"

"We're pinned down by a machinegun nest at the end of the hallway on the top floor! We can't advance!"

"Top floor huh… By any chance, is there a door leading to a balcony outside?"

"Door? Uh… Let me check…"

I quickly put my radio down.

"What are you planning?" Aster asked

"Aster" I said, ignoring his question "Do you have a mirror or something?"

"A mirror? No"

"Damn it…!"

I then turned to the others hiding under the stairs. "Hey! Does anyone have a mirror?"

Rain then picks up a small hand mirror and slides it towards me.

I grab the mirror and slowly exposed it to the hallway. It took some adjusting but I managed to spot a door behind the machinegun nest and I could see part of the night sky outside. I quickly brought out my radio again.

"Red 1! This is Squad D! The door in the balcony leads to the hallway!"

Honestly, I wasn't exactly sure if I was right. All I saw was a door and maybe what looks like the night sky. I basically gambled my chances.

"Confirmed" Sora replied "I'll turn around for a strafing run. Get to cover"

"Roger that!"

I then turned to Aster. "Go prone"

"What?"

"Go prone! I've just called in an airstrike on our floor!"

"You what?!"

"Everyone!" I shouted at the stairs "Keep your heads down!"

Me and Aster quickly go prone as I hear Sora on my radio. "Firing for effect!"

Not even a second later, machinegun bullets started flying through the 5th floor. I could see the round fly through the hallway and punch holes on most parts of the wall.

Once the bullets stopped flying, I quickly checked the hallway with Rain's mirror. The machinegun nest was neutralized. The enemy soldiers were sprawled against the makeshift barricades.

"Machinegun's neutralized!" I shouted as me and Aster charged forward

An Imperial scout and shocktrooper break cover but we easily gun them down as they appear before us.

Once we reach the end of the hallway, we spot several Imperial soldiers but they quickly dropped their weapons and raised their hands.

"Keep those hands up!" Aster shouted as the others arrive

"Rain. Martens" Franko commanded "Secure those soldiers"

"Hey Rain" I said giving her mirror back "Thanks"

Rain nods before proceeding to tie up the surrendering Imperials.

Although the 5th floor was cleared, the other floors were still occupied by the enemy so we had to help the other squads. It took a while but the hotel was finally ours by 4am.

To our surprise, the low tide came earlier than we thought! By the time we regrouped and started marching through the sandbar, the low tide had already set in and seeing that sandbar from the beach, we have a lot of ground to cross before reaching the vicinity of that port. But that wasn't the end of our problems in this fight…

Our formation was very dangerous if you ask me… The tanks, all except Marian's 7TP being Shermans, were crossing the sandbar in a straight line and that's not mentioning the heavy crossfire being thrown in our direction which forced all of us to use the tanks for cover. It's already bad enough tanks are called 'metal coffins' sometimes and this formation isn't helping alleviate my anxiety. At least the navy's finally here to help keep those port guns away from us…

The first few minutes was relatively good as the tanks provided excellent cover from the enemy's machineguns but as we were kind of halfway through the sandbar, I could hear a faint sound from the clouds above us… The sound is hard to articulate into words but the best way I can describe it is that it kind of sounds similar to a crashing plane…

"Hey" I said, turning to Aria, who was next to me "Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" she replied as that weird sound got louder "You mean that weird plane noise?"

"Yeah…"

Before I could make sense of the noise, my questions are immediately answered when several Imperial Junkers Ju 87s dive through the clouds and unleash a barrage of machinegun fire on the two tanks ahead of us.

We all instinctively dove to the ground as the enemy planes drop a bomb or two and destroy the leading Sherman in our formation. The other planes would have destroyed the other Sherman and Marian's 7TP if our own Spitfires didn't intervene, shooting down several enemy planes.

Almost immediately, I could hear soldiers screaming in pain and shouting for a medic. My breathing became heavy and my heart started beating faster again… I was about to run out of cover to help the fallen soldiers but General Barredo grabbed me by the shoulder.

"Oh no you don't!" he said

"But sir…!"

"Focus on the goddamn mission! Now give me the goddamn radio!"

"Y-Yes sir…" I replied handing over my radio

"What's the hold up? Well, get moving! We're sitting ducks here!"

He then returns my radio as the Sherman in front of us turns to the left. The tank tilts a bit to its side. We were about to follow suit but the Sherman suddenly explodes in front of us. I look to the left and spot an Imperial T-34 by the coast.

"TANK!" Marian shouted from the radio as her 7TP aims and fires at the enemy tank, destroying it.

She then turns her tank to the right and begins to move forward but a column of water bursts from near the shore. It was another tank but this time, it was an EWII-era Imperial Assault Tank.

Marian responds accordingly but the tank's frontal armor managed to resist the attack.

"Goddamn it!" General Barredo shouted "Ainsworth! Can you fire a shot?"

"I'll try sir!" Abel responded as he sets up his mortar

"Pierce! Pietro! Keep that tank busy!"

Both lancers nod as they aim their lances and fire at the enemy tank, quickly reloading after each shot. Their rockets weren't that accurate but they were precise enough to cause the enemy tank to move a bit, giving enough time for Abel to fire a mortar shell.

His attack is a direct hit and damages the enemy tank's treads, disabling it.

"Everyone!" Marian said over the radio "Take cover by the destroyed Shermans! I'm taking that tank out!"

As we hide behind the destroyed tanks, Marian kicks the pedal to the metal and breezes through the sandbar and, upon seeing the blue glow of the exhaust, fires her cannon. It was a direct hit and destroys the enemy tank.

With the enemy tanks destroyed, we were cleared to continue moving forward but the enemy Ju 87s shook us back into reality… Two of them unleashed a barrage on our position before being shot down by our own Spitfires. Nobody got shot, thank god, but battle was far from over…

I noticed that the waves were starting to touch my boots.

"General!" I said as General Barredo looks down on our boots

"Shit!" he said "Give me the radio"

"Yes sir!"

"HMS Ocean! This is General Hanz Barredo! Requesting barrage on Waco eight-one, Azimuth 35, Range 28!"

"We copy, general! Barrage-salvo H-E, Waco eight-one, Azimuth 35, Range 28... On the way!"

Within seconds, the battleship fired a salvo on the enemy machinegun nests. The bombardment didn't completely eliminate the enemy crossfire but, at least, it was enough to reduce the danger of simply rushing through the sandbar. Without a second thought, General Barredo got out of cover and ordered an all-out attack.

Following his order, we all break from cover and started running towards the island as fast as we could since the water was already covering most of sandbar. Almost immediately, pillars of water started splashing all around us.

"Artillery!" General Barredo shouted "Don't stop! Keep Moving!"

After crossing the sandbar, General Barredo splits us into 2 teams. I was grouped together with Luis, Sonia, Isaac, Lynette, and Renee to capture the radar station while the others clear the port itself and, for some reason, I'm squad leader… again.

Using a small patch of woods, we managed to reach the vicinity of our objective. The area between us and the station was mostly rocky with boulders and big rocks scattered in the ground and a couple of hastily dug foxholes.

We all hid behind the trees as the Imperial soldiers began to open fire. We were pinned down by heavy machinegun fire though we could still return fire from time to time. I tried throwing a grenade but I didn't have the arm strength to throw it close enough to the enemy foxhole.

"Isaac!" I said "Can you throw a grenade on that foxhole over there?"

"I'll try!" he replied as he brought out a grenade "Cover me!"

"On my go!" I said reloading my rifle "GO!"

I focused most of my shots on the target foxhole while Isaac threw his grenade, looking like a baseball player while he's at it.

It was a good throw as the grenade clears the enemy soldiers in the target foxhole. This gave me an opportunity to run to a boulder. I signaled the others to advance carefully. Renee immediately emerged from cover and ran to the recently cleared foxhole while laughing maniacally.

Isaac was next and he made a beeline to my position but halfway through, he collapses to the ground. I instinctively stood up but a bullet flying past my ear shocked me back to reality. I was about to mindlessly run to Isaac, ignoring the heavy enemy fire. As my breathing becomes heavy, my right eye is blinded a bit by a bright light.

It was coming from Luis. Using his signaling gear, he signaled to me, via Morse code, that it was an Imperial sniper. With my own signaling gear, I asked if he could shoot the sniper. He affirmed and told me that he'll use the tree to provide overwatch. I responded that I'll draw enemy fire to myself so he could do what needed to be done.

Luis then climbs the three. Upon reaching a stable branch, he signaled that he was ready. I reloaded my rifle and started opening fire on an enemy foxhole. As the enemy soldiers emerge from cover, Luis manages to land headshot after headshot on the Imperials, including the sniper that shot Isaac.

I must say that I'm quite impressed that a guy with one eye managed to act like a sniper using only a rifle's iron sights. Makes me curious on who Luis was before all this.

With Luis providing effective overwatch and Renee & Sonia taking over an enemy machinegun nest, it was much safer to run to Isaac.

Isaac was screaming in pain as I grab him by the arms and began to drag him back to where I was. Though the Imperials were persistent in trying to take me down as bullets were still flying around me from time to time.

I managed to drag Isaac to safety but a bullet managed to hit my left arm. Though injured, I used my last morphine shot on Isaac. I applied pressure on the gunshot wound on his lower torso as Lynette arrives.

"How's he holding up?" she asked

"He's bleeding bad" I answered

"Ah damn it… I'm a weapons engineer but I know a couple of first aid techniques. Go! I got this"

"Ok. Isaac. You're going to be ok"

I then ran towards Renee and Sonia's position. Unsurprisingly, Renee was having a blast using that MG34 to keep the enemy soldiers at bay.

"Sonia" I said "You and me are going to take that station!"

"Right!" she replied

"Renee"

Renee didn't respond

"Renee!" I said tapping her shoulder

"Oy!" she replied "I'm having a moment here! What do you want?"

"Uh…"

"Spit it out already ya wanker! I was having fun!"

"Well… Uh… Just provide cover fire to me and Sonia while we advance to the station"

"That's what I was doing you bloke!"

"Right… Give me one of your satchel charges"

"Here! Now let me have some fun!"

I really can never get used to this split personality thing of hers… At least she's not completely insubordinate.

Anyway, thanks to Luis and Renee, me and Sonia managed to reach the door to the station. It was tightly locked so I blasted the door open with the satchel charge.

As me and Sonia broke through the door, we came face to face with 2 Imperial soldiers, both holding their hands up.

"We surrender" one of them said

"Get down!" I shouted as the Imperials continue to stand "I said get down!"

But the Imperials suddenly charged towards both of us. I tried to shoot but the Imperial managed to grab my rifle and pushed me to the wall. He was way stronger than me as he was able to put my rifle against my neck and started to choke me with it.

I never really had much upper arm strength so I had a hard time wresting control of my rifle. I knew that I couldn't overpower this soldier with my arms so I decided to take a gamble. While my left hand continues to hold the rifle, my right hand lets go of it. This allowed the Imperial to choke me much harder while I desperately reached for my pistol.

I quickly grabbed it and just pulled the trigger as my vision was becoming blurry. I managed to shoot the soldier in the leg. The pain was enough for me to break free from the choke hold and whip him in the head with my pistol. He collapses to the ground as I aim my pistol to his face. At the same time, Sonia manages to overpower her opponent and kicks him to the ground before aiming her Thompson.

"Wait! Wait!" the Imperial said as he raised his arms "I-I surrender!"

This again? To be honest, I was enraged upon hearing his surrender. Part of me wanted to kill the man for what he tried to do but my hand was shaking and my breathing started getting faster and faster. To my surprise, images of that incident 5 years ago began to flash before my eyes but despite the looming feeling of distress, I felt the rage more. I could easily shoot this man right now and there would be no repercussions… But I didn't…

"You piece of shit!" I shouted as I smacked him with my pistol and placed it directly on his forehead.

"Please!" he begged

"Denzel!" Sonia said

I stared my rage fueled eyes directly into the Imperial's. I wanted to show him how enraged I was.

It was at that moment that Luis entered the station.

"Luis!" I said "Secure this fucker!"

I stood up as Luis complies. I then took my radio out.

"General Barredo" I said "Radio station is secured"

"Copy" he replied "Port's as good as ours! Good work!"

And true enough, within half an hour, the remaining Imperials surrendered and the port was ours.
