章 86: The Main Tournament (2)
Soon after Song Qian Long made his initial announcement, we heard a knock on our room's door. I originally thought it was one of the other teams coming to seek trouble, but when Feng Mian opened the door, a young man in butler-clothes was standing there, holding what looked like a piece of paper, rolled up into a scroll.
He had blonde hair and blue eyes. Quite handsome, to be honest. He gave a clearly rehearsed smile, and spoke.
"Greetings, team members of The Chaotic Tranquility. I have come here to deliver your tournament bracket, and a basic outline of how today's competition will function."
"Oh, uh, come in?" Feng Mian said hesitantly after taking the paper, unsure of what to do next. She glanced back at me for answers, and I nodded.
However, contrary to my expectations, the butler shook his head. "I could not disturb you like that. I have delivered the item; my mission here is complete."

In this chapter, I introduced some new characters, that become pretty important later on in this volume and also in the next. For one, most of you probably remember who Xuan Yang is - Xuan Ying (Xuan Kai's father)'s brother. In other words, Xuan Kai's uncle. He is also the father of Xuan Kun. And before you ask, no, he was not the one that had that talk with Xuan Kun a few chapters back, before the Advancement Exams even started. That was someone else, who I will introduce soon. That aside, Xuan Yang certainly played a big part in the assassination of Xuan Kai's parents. Details to come in the next volume!
As for Yu Ao, well, you all know who he is. The friendly Yu family patriarch that calls Xuan Kai his son-in-law. Not much else needs to be said...
Moving on, Li Hai Tang. This was a truly new character - his name has not come up even once before in this series. He is the Li family patriarch, and despite his kind looks has quite the evil and sinister heart. For one, he has lusted after the Qing family patriarch for quite a while now, though she turned him down at every turn. Satisfying!!
And finally, last but not least, Qing Xin. Cute name, right? She's basically Qing Yue with Yu An Xue's personality, but older. However, unlike Yu An Xue, she has this cold attittude to everyone, even her own family. Yu An Xue at least opens up somewhat to people she's really close with (for example, her sister, or Xuan Kai), and her cold attitude turns into this shy, meek personality. It seems the only person who she's actually close to is Qing Yue, her daughter. It is only when she is with her daughter that she shows her motherly, loving side. You'll see later on, there will be a pretty touching scene between the two of them, mother and daughter. By the way, personally, I quite like this character. Oops, I wrote a shit ton for the afterword again. Ahh...I need to fix this bad habit of mine.
