章 102: His Father's Disapproval

"I have," she immediately stated.

"Lies," he tsked, "The doctor told me everything I need to know about your health."

She felt herself shrink. There was no use in lying now if he knew about her condition.

"What's going on with you, Lai?" he asked her.

She didn't respond and just tightly clutched the blanket covering her from the waist down. She couldn't tell him. There was no way she could. And it wasn't just her pride that told her not to.

But she didn't want to be a burden to him when he had already helped her so much.

"And I know it's not just about your mother," Bai added, "There's more going on in your life and I know it. I understand that what you're going through may be personal, but I want to help you if I can."

"You don't have to worry," she declared firmly, "I have everything under control."
