Leon continued performing, but could not shake the feeling in his heart.
Yet he had to focus. He concentrated on singing, though he was less effective this time....
But then, it was Wolfe's turn.
"That large gun you hold eludes me
What must it feel to have your bullets in my insides?
I can't help but wish I'm guilty (which I'm not)
Let the night make us fully lose our minds"
When Leon first saw these lyrics, he can't help but laugh how on the nose the innuendo was. But once Wolfe sang it in his siren-like voice.....
It's not funny anymore.
It was annoying how silly lyrics like that started to sound so... so beautiful. So exciting.
His other verses were just as impactful, taking away Leon's anxieties for a while. His mind was taken off from the shadows he saw earlier.
There was only Wolfe Fang, and his dangerous voice.
Every note hitting Leon's heart..... and his crotch too.
They have now reached the supposed 'room', and Wolfe/Lupin reached out to lock the door behind him. But it also seemed like a sly way to embrace him.
It took all Leon's willpower not to kiss him the moment he moved close.
And they were supposed to sing in a duet for the chorus while being this close. Leon could not help but snicker mentally.
What were the scriptwriters thinking, claiming none of this is gay? This was overtly gayer than companies during Pride month.
"Oh, it must be the succulent taste of danger
That sweet sweet danger that you bring
A sensation that I have never
Thought would make my heart sing"
Lupin was supposed to purposefully grabbed his gun and caressed it to his cheek. This would cause Detective Holzfaller to catch his breath, and look away once Lupin kisses it.
The song would stop, as a piece of dialogue would be interjected.
"This is my bedroom. In here was the so-called stash of illegally exported alcohol.... You can check what they look like if you want."
He parted from the detective and gestured under his bed.
Holzfaller looked inside. "These are all already half-drunk bottles."
"Yes. They were my family's safe-keeping before the war, you can even see their labels and notes in it." He grinned.
"Therefore, I did not break Volstead. This is my personal stash, and it's quite too few to distribute to the folks in my little soiree, is it not?"
Detective Holzfaller rubbed his chin. "But Rotte says.... Sigh. Fine then, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I will be taking my leave."
"Oh, don't go yet, Detective! An apology is not enough to erase my grievance with you for accusing me as not just a criminal, but a mob boss at that! Haha!"
Detective Holzfaller would hesitate, and sit back on the bed with him wearing a frown. "Then what must I do to settle this grievance?"
"Have a drink with me. It's not against the rules~"
"I do not drink---"
But Lupin had already chugged a bottle of bourbon, and handed it over to him.
"If you don't, I'll be very much aggrieved, you know?" He pouted and looked pitiful. "You breaking into my home and arresting an innocent civilian like me. That's slander."
"I do not want to go so far as to sue you for that. So why don't we become friends and have a drink together?"
Detective Holzfaller would grit his teeth, knowing that he was being blackmailed.
He takes the bottle, and drink.
They would sing the chorus again, as their hands hold over the same bottle.
"Oh, it must be the succulent taste of danger
That sweet sweet danger I can't resist
A sensation that I have never
Felt that could bring me such...... bliss"
If this was truly an openly gay production, they would have kissed in that pause before saying 'bliss'.
But there was only an awkward silence, and so to make up for that silence, Leon Mo did some improvisation.
He took it in himself to move closer to Wolfe's neck, as if about to kiss him.... Then move back away in horror after realizing what he had almost done.
And whispered the 'bliss' in such a desperate and breathy tone.
And the curtains closed after that, signaling the change in scene.
Nobody expected that improv....
But they all loved it!
"Was he going to whisper something to him? Or did he really try to..." Taji blinked.
Director Choi shook his head. "Whatever that was, that will be a permanent fix in all the other performances. Good job, you two. Let Serafina and Cherith go next!"
Wolfe was genuinely shocked with Leon's improv, and so he guessed he would have to act shocked for the rest of the performances too.
"What was that just now, hon?" He teased him after they went out off the stage. "Was the tension too much for you?"
"Yes, and no. I did think the improv is good, but there's another reason why I covered you."
Leon looked at the top floor seats of the theater. If a skilled marksman would go there....
He would be able to aim and shoot perfectly.
"Wolfe Fang, you were almost shot. Follow me."
He grabbed Wolfe by the hand as they go up Gallery or Gods' seats.
Leon looked at the gun he's holding. "Too bad this isn't real. Stay close anyway."
He caught a whiff of something familiar, something he had always smelled back int he Den when his father would take him there.....
"Gun polishing oil." He said. "I smell it this way."
Wolfe was curious about his superior sense of smell, being able to tell apart the smell of polishing oil itself.
But he also heard something too. Footsteps.
"Leon, it's this way!" He hissed. "Leon!"
But Leon would not listen to him, and went inside one of the God's theater boxes.
As he and Wolfe went inside----
The door was slammed shut on them!
"Fuck!" He yelled, trying to pry it open but to no avail.
"I told you it's the other way! I heard it! You wouldn't listen!" Wolfe said.
The others were too busy performing below to hear them, the loudspeakers too loud even fi they shout.
Leon grabbed Wolfe close, and covered his head. "Get down. They might try to shoot you again in the box opposite to us."
They waited, hiding behind the boxes' fully cemented terrace.
There was nothing for hours. Eventually, they even heard the group packing up.
Wolfe tried to stand up. "Maybe they're gone---"
"Get back down!" Leon pulled him back down again. "I'll go check. I'll also try to bust the door open."
He looked around, but there was nothing on sight. The group seemed to have gone out already, there was nobody else and the theater was empty.
He tried the door, but it wouldn't budge.
Leon cursed as he kick it once again. "Shit...."
Wolfe gulped. "We're stuck here, aren't we?"
