Brian left the guild feeling satisfied. He hasn't found the people who'll provide the supply for his alchemy shop yet. However, Ogz will handle that after he proposed something that is very aligned with what he wants.
Their talk went for ages. The people who were working are now coming back to their homes.
What Ogz proposed to him is that they would create their own agency or that a group of gatherers that will partner only with Nova Initia. Leading as the founder of this agency, Ogz will be the one who'll handle all these tasks concerning his company's suppliers.
How Ogz would handle it is through building up connections and hiring people himself rather than Boss Bry who'll need to visit the guild once in a while. All Brian needs to do is provide the gold coins so their agency can find people.
The name of the agency Ogz is planning to create is 'Finest Nova Provider'. The main purpose of its existence is for Nova, but it doesn't mean their agency cannot accept other clients who'll ask for their service later on. Brian may not need them to work for his Nova always so he accepted the condition that their group can do other task. Nova is just the first priority.
Nova Provider doesn't limit themselves in the Collecto Guild. They can go and recruit someone from other guilds like the Hunting Guild or even create missions for those at the Adventurer's Guild.
So for their first assignment as Nova Provider, Brian has given Ogz 200 gold to use and do what he was supposed to do. Gathering people who'll gather for his alchemy shop.
Now that was done, he needs to look for possible candidates for the third Nova employee. He can't depend on Samon to be there.
…But at the same time, someone like Samon should be the best candidate for an alchemy master.
Brian came home after fetching Paia from her lessons. It may be his imagination, but Paia appears different compared to when he left her here. Although it doesn't seem to affect her in a bad way so Brian left it alone.
It just made sense to him the changes after Paia happily shared during their dinner how she started learning magic from Risa. She even showed a small fire akin to a lighter on her index finger. It was small, but Brian already knows her daughter has more talent in magic compared to him.
*Knock Knock*
"Hm? Who's here this late at night?"
He just finished reading a bedtime story to Paia when suddenly they were disturbed by a polite knock at their door. Thankfully, Paia is already fast asleep before she could hear it.
"Sorry for disturbing you."
"May I… help you?"
What made Brian swallow his words for a moment is because the person who visited this late at night was a familiar person. They never met before, but the other party's face should be a hot topic for the people of Soliel during these past weeks.
A hairstyle that made him remember someone yet this person was much older and more refine looking compared to the Gargantuan he met.
If he remembers, this man's name is Steron. The man the whole Avian kingdom is looking for.
"I heard a stupid kid with stupid hair came here the other day. Do you perhaps know where he is right now?"
'Why is this big shot looking for Samon? And he really does not have the right to say stupid hair because he is rocking one himself.'
"ah- It's disrespectful to ask without introducing myself first. I'm Steron- You probably already know a little bit about me. But what you need to know is Samon is my student. He probably cursed me a lot."
"Yeah, he did… Unfortunately, I don't know where he is right now."
"Is that the case? I guess it can't be helped then. Sorry for disturbing you once again."
Steron was friendlier than he thought. The description those Avian knights kept spreading around didn't really reflect his first impression of him except his appearance. High-ranking magicians especially alchemy masters are known to be haughty because of their status. But Brian doesn't see any of it from this old man.
What he sees through is space magic that almost instantly teleported him away from the doorstep of Brian's house. It was not the first time Brian saw high-rank space magic, but it's still amazing to know someone who knows how.
Being a Grandmaster Alchemist surely relates to Steron also being a high-ranking mage or vice versa. Brian estimate Steron could cast Rank 9 magic. However, he doesn't know what he specializes in.
Brian was just about to go back after entertaining the unexpected guest when out of nowhere, a ruckus was happening where his shops were located.
"Someone is stealing in my property?!"
It was a deep dark night, perfect for conducting shady business. Bringing a small mithril dagger customized for him, he slowly walks toward where the noise was coming from.
His body may not handle tedious battles, but his experience can at least give him one strike that can end a battle before it could even start.
The instinct of the knight considered to be the strongest was still within him. Putting their guard down because he got a sickly body is the biggest mistake an enemy can do to him.
'Tonight is really busy.' Brian cannot help but complain since he was about to sleep.
What he was hearing is coming from his alchemy shop. Putting the dagger down, the person he met doesn't have any shady business going on- or does he?
"Did he already leave?"
"What the hell are you doing here? How did you even enter?"
Speaking of the devil, the man they were discussing a while ago is here for some reason. There were many things wrong with why he found Samon inside his ship.
Firstly, why is Samon acting like he was hiding from a scary person. Brian can guess that person must be his teacher, but that leads to the next problem.
"System, you're security measure didn't work."
<System: Nova Alchemy Store is just a level 1 shop. It cannot stop anything capable of Rank 4 and above strength>
And for the last problem, it's almost midnight. The cleaning feature of his shops is about to start. This feature is known to be the deadliest thing in mankind.
So without asking more questions, Brian pushes out Samon from the shop.
"Why you're sweating too much Bry. It should be a cold night."
"It's better for you to not know."
Brian never imagined escaping death from his own shops because it was about to do some self-cleaning in itself. Only demented children can come up with a story like that.
"So care explaining yourself…"
"Hehe~ this place is a good hiding spot from Teach. If I just add more concealing formation then nothing will ever see me here."
"Why am I not surprised…"
He never thought he will ever see Samon so soon. Especially in this kind of situation. But if there was any person capable of ending up here, it would be the guy acting like he's embarrassed about what he had done.
"I've decided Bry! From now on, I'll work for you!"
"Let me guess. So you can hide from your teacher."
"A little bit of yes- maybe a lot of it, but also I've decided! I'm going to live the life I want. A life where I don't need to train or hear the old man's yap for 24/7!"
This should be a touching scene where Brian will feel moved. Yet, there was nothing to be moved at all. Rather, he felt sad seeing this was the motivation he had. Knowing Samon was a hundred percent serious just makes it even more miserable.
"I'm prepared to leave my life back in my home. So Bry- No, Boss Bry! Let me work for you!"
"I guess that's really what you want, huh…"
"…!"
A third party intrudes on the conversation between the two. Appearing like a ghost, Steron who Brian thought left had returned carrying a visible killing intent with him. It brought Brian and Samon on their knees.
The friendly old man vibe was all gone. Steron is now a figure to be feared and respected. Brian doubt he can beat this person at his peak strength. The best he could do was leave the fight alive, and even that is barely possible from what Brian is experiencing now.
Inhaling air became a burden. It's been quite long, but now Brian remembers what having his life on the line feels like once again.
Samon really did bring trouble right at his doorsteps. And this trouble is more than what Brian can handle currently.
I appreciate all the support the book is receiving so far. With that being said I'm going back to 7 chapters/week schedule instead of 4-5 chapters a week.
